Yup absolutely a must read. I really enjoyed Hart's book and Foley's first book. Not sure which one I like better though. Hart's book was definitely an eye opener.

I still say that Mick Foley's book was the best wrestling book ever, but I would be lieing if I said that I didn't enjoy Bret's. HBK's was okay, but came off a little too self serving for my interests.

I picked up the Edge DVD last night ... watching disc one now. It's hard to believe that Edge has been in WWE for 10 years now ... seems like he debuted just the other day. Really, Edge is pretty underrated in the ring.

Yeah HBK's book was surprisingly good. As for self serving I think Bret Hart goes above and beyond that in his. From him throwing everyone in his family under the bus (minus Owen) to him thinking he was better than some of the greats and also him still looking bad on the whole Montreal screw job thing I did lost a lot of respect for him. I even think Foley's later books make Foley come off as a bit more important to the history of wrestling as he was.

By the way I loved Jericho's book, and hopefully he'll make a sequel soon about his time in the WWE.

cool... i am in the middle of two books currently, but now i know what i am gonna read next. Foley's first book and Flair's are both favorites of mine.

i wish Arn Anderson would have waited to write his book until the era of kayfabe was over. thats a guy whose experiences i would like to read, unfiltered.

Royal Rumble is apparently tonight. I just looked at the card and here are my predictions on the matches:

WWE Women's Title: Beth Phoenix over Melina
ECW Title: Matt Hardy over Jack Swagger
WWE Title: Jeff Hardy over Edge
WWE Title: Cena over JBL with the help of HBK
    Royal Rumble winner: Randy Orton

EDIT: ouch 2-5 not very good.

I like the Hardy-Hardy match set up for WM, i kinda saw it coming but was thrown off about the whole christen thing for a while. But i always thought it was going to be matt being jealous of Jeff and thats why i figured he lost his title

No real surprises from what I read. I like the rumble match itself, so I think I might try to find an online encore to see it.

Women matches are always good when you have women who can actually wrestle.

Hmmm, the consensus around the internet is that the Royal Rumble was bad. I disagree. I enjoyed it.

The opening match with Swagger/Hardy was a nice clean finish that helped setup a storyline further in the night.

The women's match, as already discussed was nice.

The Cena/JBL match was kind of slow, but the HBK interference was interesting and probably leads to a match at WM.

The Edge/Jeff match was a good one, and again, sets up WM on a tee.

And the royal rumble match itself is IMPOSSIBLE to screw up. Impossible. Every year seems to have a theme and this year was no different. The commentators touched on it, but it was obvious that the competitors this year "practiced" how to avoid elimination after being tossed over the rope and I think it worked wonderfully. A couple of tidbits below:

-I thought the Melina/Phoenix spot where Beth took Melina's foot, bent it backwards and started kicking Melina in the back of her own head with it was brilliant. Such a bully move which plays into her character perfectly.

-The Matt/Jeff storyline is one I kind of wanted to avoid, but is was bound to happen. Lets hope that Matt offers an explanation...then hits the gym. The dude is getting rather big in the mid section.

-The biggest pop of the night had to be RVD. I know it was a one time gig, but it would be nice to see him more regularly. The second biggest pop may have been...Hacksaw Jim Duggan...?

-I loved the spot with JTG/Morrison both dangling over the top rope, kicking at each other. Innovative stuff.

-Speaking of which, Rey Misterio jumping on the backs of Morrison and Miz in order to avoid his feet touching the ground was pretty good as well. He has lost his steroid weight and his high flying stuff looks to be more crisp than it has in a long time.

-RVD's frogsplash on Orton was sick. As was Jeff Hardy's Whisper in the Wind earlier in the night. As was Carlito's double spring board moonsault.

-When Big Show entered the ring, I counted NINE former world champions in the ring at the same time. It gave it a big time feel, but also shows what the problem is with the WWE is today. No way you would find that many former champs in the ring at the same time in year's past.

-In fact, Overall, I think there were 10 former champs involved. (Khali, Jericho, Orton, HHH, CM Punk, Kane, Undertaker, Show, RVD, Misterio).

-Shelton Benjamin's top rope double paydirt was a thing of beauty.

-Santino proclaiming that he wasn't ready after being eliminated faster than anyone in history was hilarious. The guy plays his role perfectly.

-No Charlie Haas portraying a former rumble winner was a crime.

-The Goldust/Codydust exchange was pretty good. Goldie kept getting the better of his younger brother but relenting to eliminate him, only to see Orton kill him dead and his brother throw him out was a nice touch.

-I think at this point, I can predict the main events/top of the card for Wrestlemania. If I am right, I think it will be about a 50/50 shot of being good.

-Overall, great PPV. It is very hard to screw up the royal rumble. It is a tried and true method and one of the best formatted matches out there.

A couple of questions though. Is Umaga hurt? He wasn't there. Neither was Sim Snuka or the other fat samoan dude whose name I already forgot. You would think having them in the rumble would have given Cody/Dibiase some cool storylines to jump into during the match outside of being Orton's stooges.

So I'm watching Raw for the first time in like forever ... and I've noticed two things.

    1) Stephanie's voice is now lower than mine. When the heck did that happen?
    2) I'm confused. I guess that Randy Orton punted Vince in the head last week. I remember watching it and laughing. How does that make him a heel?

Oh, and what happened to JR? Cole is on Raw now?

The ending of the Jericho/Punk match was sure sloppy.

Is it just me or is the Shane/Orton segment really bad, between Shane's slow fake punches, Rhodes terrible offense and Orton's bad job of selling that whole angle looked like it was shot for a high school play.

    Wow.

Having Orton sell for Shane's pathetic offense and punches is just sad.

Talk about exposing the business. That was awful to watch. I won't be watching this after this week. What a dumb way to end the show. Guess the product still blows chunks.

Cryme Tyme is more of a comedy team plus the WWE is super high on Miz and Morrison so they're pushing them to the moon (which I have no problem with because I really think Morrison is going to be a huge star).

Yeah I agree, I think people have a hard time believing Randy Orton is a bad *** himself and what will a match with Shane McMahon prove? I still don't even buy Orton as a top guy, he's terrible in the ring and he's not very good on the mike.

I think having Shane join probably was the smart move. Although, he seems to be the only McMahon that has inherited a face gene as both Stephanie and Vince are much better as heels and Linda is much better not being on camera.

Having said that, if they wanted to have Shane attack Randy. They should have kept it as it was to start with Shane jumping Randy. Shane is a pretty big guy and in theory, if you are pumped up, you can do more than normal. However what SHOULD have happened was for Legacy to gain the upper hand, beat him down and have Randy kick him in the head as well. Do the stretcher Job, have Stephanie look on in horror as her brother suffers the same fate as her dad and have Ted and Cody grab randy and shuffle him to a waiting car as they are public enemy number 1.

The next week, Randy talks about how his explosive diarrhea or whatever his disease is, kicked in, Linda comes out to say that she is going to finish what her husband started. Before she can say anything, she gets punted as well and now, Orton has eliminated the entire clan sans Stephanie.

The following week, Stephanie comes out, calls out Legacy, reads them the riot act, and then...embraces Randy in the center of the ring as their plan worked perfectly. The other McMahaons are out of the picture, leaving her as the boss and after all, she is a fourth generation superstar as well, so her involvement with Legacy makes sense.

This happens AFTER No Way Out where Cena retains. Legacy is jubilant that they have done their deeds. Cena's music hits and he comes down to tell them that while they may have eliminated the McMahons, THE CHAMP IS STILL HERE!...and he has a legacy of his own. Enter Sim and Manu. A big brawl ensues to end the night and Wrestlemania has two matches.

    Orton vs. Cena (Championship)
    Priceless vs. Manu/Snuka

At Wrestlemania, I think the best thing to do is to have Priceless win and then be ringside for the main event, along with Stephanie. They are helping on occasion, but nothing over the top, until towards the end when it becomes blatant. All of a sudden, McMahon's music plays. The crowd goes nuts, and...Linda walks down the aisle.

While everyone is looking at her, Vince and Shane sneak in from the crowd, take out Dibiase and Cody. Stephanie is shocked and by the time she realizes what is happening, her mother is on her and brawling with her on the floor. Meanwhile, Orton turns around and walks right into an FU. 1, 2, 3.

The promos between Rourke and Jericho should be better good. I'm glad Jericho will get a lot of press for this and be in a somewhat important match at WM instead of just being thrown in the Money in the Bank match (which is getting kind of old now along with the Elimination Chamber matches).

I was an old-school fan back in the days of Brutus The Barber Beefcake, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, & Demolition all the way up to the demise of the Ministry of Darkness...after that I just lost interest. Although, do check in now and again. Jericho is still my all-time favorite, the Lionheart era was the best.

Well I'm sure Jericho will use this to get even more heat. I still hope they give Jericho a big WM program to work with instead of sticking him in a filler match or the MitB match. A Jericho/Triple H match would be pretty sweet.
