Our fans impressed me last year and this year...were getting better but we still have a ways to go..a major problem being our stadium, another being that we have'nt showed up in big games at home when the momentum is there..playing poorly at home in both ravens looses and the patriot loss is gonna hurt our momentum for a while.

Being at that game was so depressing..we were so ready to take over and help but the team never gave us a chance to get in it.we were one ted ginn fumble away from every fan being on their feet screaming their *** off foor the defense..did'nt happen, which will make some fans stay in that mode of sitting on their hands in the future.

what iam trying to say is that i have realized that a lot of our rep has come from bad teams playing in a stadium not conducive to noise. And even when we have been playing better not capitolizing on the momentum.

I noticed when McGahee was carted off and heading into the tunnel that many Steelers fans leaned over and said "Good luck Willis." I thought it was a classy move and pointed it out to my husband (an Eagles fan) right away. I asked him if he thought that would happen in Philly and he said "yes". That's BS!!!!

While I understand the overall point you're trying to prove, I couldn't agree less with it. First of all let me say that while Steelers' fans are no where near as bad as Raiders, Eagles and even Bears fans in terms of violence and behaviour towards other fans, they are near bottom of the barrel when it comes to sportsmanship and class. I have thought this for years and they continue to prove that correct with acts like they pulled Sunday.

So the question I have is, do you really want to be as low class as the Steelers? Do you really want to say that it's okay to boo our own team in our own stadium just because another team did it? I hate to use such a childish reference but, if Steelers' fans jumped off a bridge would you want Dolphins' fans to start doing it? Cause I'm not going to do it.

What happened in our playoff game against Baltimore was embaressing and low class. This organization came from 1-15 to 11-5 in a year. We hosted our first playoff game in 8 years. The players came together and played as a team to achieve something greater than individual accolades. This attitude coupled with the progress we made in one short year is something we should be cheering and celebrating not finding a reason to justify booing.

If you really believe the point you made in your original post I feel sorry for you.

Dumb is as dumb does. Unreal how you can boo in such an important game when your team is winning. At least they still have their pretty towels to wave.

Pointless argument, fans pay for the right to voice their opinion, whether we agree with their opinion or not is really not important. I wish our fan base at the games was more enthusiastic, and I envy the fan base at Steelers games. Booing is an argument nobody can settle, as much as I don't like booing, I have gone to games and Booed my team (hey it was the St. Louis Cardinals, who ALWAYS sucked), but I don't think I'm a bad fan for doing it.

There are always plenty of Miami fans at the Meadowlands. There are more Jets fans in Florida than there are Miami fans in NJ/NY, but you'd be surprised by the number of Fin fans you actually see around here on a daily basis if you travel around the area.

I think Miami is a franchise that has more fans around the country then they do their own state, as strange as that sounds. For home games, unless its the Postseason, the stadium is pretty crappy in terms of people who actually show up, but they really do come out well on the road because Shula and Marino really made them a National team back in the day and a lot of people have stuck with them.

I've been going to Jets games since I was 7 and have sat where I sit now since I was 10 and there is one Miami fan who I guess gets the tickets from his friend who sits four rows behind me. He and I have gotten into plenty of arguments, but we respect each other. Same goes when I travel up to New England and sit in my friends seats for the games up there.

You should be at the Meadowlands when Fireman Ed sometimes starts a "J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!" chant while the Offense is at the line of scrimmage making adjustments.

    Good times. :pity:

Some have that opinion, some don't.

For someone who was actually at the game, I can tell you that yes there were fans cheering that Chad was down, you're right about that, but there weren't many. Only a couple in a crowd of thousands. When Pennington first went down there was a silence amongst the crowd. People were at their loudest when Pennington was limping off and Clemens was coming on. At that point, Pennington wasn't liked by probably 70% of the franchise to be "the guy" at QB after another postseason collapse against New England seven months earlier. Jets fans wanted a change, so don't act like Pennington had a great season in 2006, he was average at best that year.

But for someone who was at the game, not some little snot politician news anchor that jumps onto NBC Sunday Night Football to do highlights, Pennington's injury was cheered by some, but the fact he was able to limp off AND Clemens was coming in was what got 90+% of the cheers.

You feel sorry for me.
Save it for I can assure you that I could really care less what you think.
To make such a petty statement in response to a subject matter such as this is pretty weak.

The point stands until you can come up with something legitimate to counter it.

Let me again repeat it again for you so you can soak it up.
The issue of whether or not you agree with booing your own team isn't the issue.

The issue is that people used the argument that Miami fans are the worst fans in the NFL because during a game some fans boo'd the team.
For that to be true, other fan bases can't display the same behavior.
Since I just gave an example of how one of the NFL's most highly regarded fan bases in the Steelers boo'd their own team it completely disproves the argument that Miami's fan base is worse than others based on the false accusation that other fan bases don't boo their own team. It happens everywhere.

    Does it register now?

In addition, I've really never heard any claims of the sort which you are leveling against Steeler fans.
Their fan base has always been listed as one of the best in the NFL.

Also what on earth are you referencing from our home playoff game this year that was "embarassing and low class"?
I was at this game and don't remember anything from our fans but positive energy as much as could be expected during a sound arse whipping.

Nah I guess i still don't get it. I just can't accept that because the Pittsburgh Steelers or any other fans in the league boo their team that it makes it any less wrong when Miami fans do it. As fans of a resurgent team with a bright future we should be positive about our team and try to make our fan base the best in the NFL. Not look for a reason to justify negativity.

Your right, you don't get it.

For the third time. The post isn't about whether booing is right or wrong.
It's not looking to justify or condemn the process of booing your team.

The point is that no one can single out our fan base as "one of the worst in the league" based on booing when all fan bases boo their team to show displeasure from time to time.

If anything, coming from your viewpoint on the subject, you'd have to conclude that all fans of every team shows classless signs at times but no one can condemn our fans alone.

That's it, no justification or condemnation for the act itself. Jeez.

So then I just have to ask....was it really necessary to start a thread to say that every team's fans boo?

YES! At least you finally get the point sans the the sarcasm.

    It was in fact necessary.
THe reason being is that there were posters on this board ripping our fan base as a whole as "being the worst in the NFL" by using the argument that no other team's fans boo their own team as their reasoning.

Because of that argument, a simple concept such as "every team's fans boo" sadly had to be pointed out.
