Sometimes it works the other way too.
I don't remember Ricky tearing it up here when he played for the Argonauts.

Normally, I would have those expectations as well L2G, but not with this guy.

His physical stats were on par with DWare at the Combine, sometimes a player needs a chance to play, and the light comes on and out of nowhere they arrive in the NFL.

Soon enough, I truly hope he shows up at the Rookie Training Camp right after the Draft, that weekend camp for Draftees and UDFA's should be C. Wake's Coming Out party.

If he does well there, then it is off to Training Camp and #1 overall Jake Long..3 sacks given up all year (more or less 2 sacks) meets Mr. Wake, that Rookie Camp will give him the chance to learn some hand techniques..

Shine against Big Jake...you can play in the NFL...which IMO, is what C. Wake needs to thrive here.

Ricky was out of football for how long at that point? 2 out of 3 years, plus an injury in between, that wasn't the same Ricky that was one of the top backs in the league. He hasn't exactly been tearing it up since his return to the NFL either. :wink2:

I hope you're right, but plenty of players have good measurables and don't succeed in the NFL. Heck, the top of every past draft is littered with them. :wink2:

Hmm...the 11th Commandment on a Phins board is:

Thou shall not speaketh ill of Ricky Williams

    CFL is a bit different...120 yd fields...multiple players in motion....still only 3 downs...:wink2:

True, the Draft is littered with guys with measurables, but who never stick.

They typically fade away...Jackie Shipp comes to mind.

    C. Wake though...he went into the wilderness, and fought, that is the difference, there is no "training" outings with Lawerance Taylor in his near future...just more work.

I'm a big fan of guys who fought for everything they got, sometimes when the numbers meet a hungry player, they just blow up.

We will know soon enough whether he is Woodley or Corker L2G...:hi5:

Still, all I heard around here when he signed: "He is going to demolish this league!"

Then he got hurt a month in.

Right, but conditioning (and maybe even desire) was a problem for him. He wasn't the same Ricky that tore up the NFL a few years prior. Sitting out a year can do that for a player.

Jermaine Haley made the roster though and was playing in the DT rotation. I think he left as a RFA when Washington signed him to an offer sheet we wouldn't match. IIRC

I think either he or Mack would be much better in that situation than Satele is, that's for sure. Hampton is a load for any center, but it stands to reason, that the bigger stronger centers like those two would handle him more readily than a smaller center who's best strength is his movement skills. Raji walked Unger back in some of the pass block drills yesterday, but Unger was able to slow his charge enough and keep him in front well enough, that if that had been a real play, Raji wouldn't have touched the QB.

I'm partial to Unger, his being a Duck, but there is just as much to like about Mack, IMO. Unger gives you great flexibility because he could start for sure at 4 different spots on the line and also be a decent backup at the least, at LT. If you look at just 1 on 1 drive blocking, I'm thinking Mack is a little better, but in overall game, and what all you could do with him, Unger is the guy. I'm very anxious to see how they both do at the combine, especially on the bench. If we signed Jason Brown in free agency it would indicate we are going elsewhere in the first round of the draft though and that is as possible as anything else that's been discussed, IMO.
I gotta tell ya though, if I hear the commish utter the words "with the 25th pick, the Dolphins select, center from Oregon,(or Cal)...etc" I will cream my boxer shorts.
