How come there's no 'too young to watch' category? We were alive, just not old enough to really be 'there'. Anyway, I was 7 so my attention span wasn't very good, although I remember my brother (who was 17) watching it with me at the time.
I also would rank this game higher than the 1981 playoff game against the San Diego Chargers, reason being, we won this one. I only rank two loses as great games, 1978 @ Houston Oilers & 1981 Playoffs against the Chargers I love this 1985 game against the Bears, It very well could be my favorite Dolphins game ever.
I wish I could, is there anywhere you can get classic games on DVD? I've seen the Clayton TD several times - it's always on TV when they're talking about unbeaten teams but thats about it.
I think it would have been close. We were a match-up nightmare for them. They relied on blitzing to get pass rush pressure and they had pedestrian CBs. We had arguably the best QB ever against the blitz and superior WRs. They were a more complete team but having your weakness against the other team's strength wouldn't have been good news for the Bear's chances. We had some fortunate bounces in the first game so I think it would have been closer but I liked our odds. I certainly liked our odds better than NE's.
My Dad is a huge Bears fan. He was always saying that now there will be TWO undefeated teams. His Bears and my Dolphins. That day, I knew they would crush us. But low and behold we destroyed their desire to breathe. My Dad looked at me and my smile and said "shut up". hahahahahaa
That game was my best Dolphins memory ever!!!!!!! I was suppose to only get to watch the first quarter with my Dad since it was a school night. As the first quarter progressed and Marino began to conduct surgery my Dad told my Mom he'd take me to school a little late so I could watch until halftime. By halftime it was something to behold, and my Dad let me finish watching the game with him and I got to stay home from school the next day with a note for Wednesday that said I had Fin Fever. I'll never forget that night and game with my Dad. I've never witnessed a game with that much magic, simply amazing, Marino single handedly destroyed the Bears D.
Considering the choices, I had to play "dumb" and take the last choice. While I most definitely "was here", I was not at the game. That only left option 3!!
