Is this game real or legend to you ? Real for me, as we were season ticket holders. Sec CC row 21, seats 34, 35 and 36. Used to take the Park'n'Ride county buses from the FIU campus. Those were the good old days
I wanna see that game from scratch..they gave the pregame on youtube..but it stops right before kickoff
I wonder if someone has the whole thing on DVD. I used to have it on VHS tape, but it became old, faded and worn out. I must played it back at least 200 times.
I watched it on tv.....I was 19 years old and I remember all the Bear's fans talking crap about how great they were. We should have played them for the Superbowl as well, but the Patriots instead decided to lay down for them.
And we layed down for the Pats in the AFC Championship in the OB or we would have had that showdown ! I'll never forget losing that game......I never believed it could happen.
I remember it well. I think Tony Eason was their QB. One of many playoff games that left me really bummed out.
1. You need to add "Its real to me, I watched it on TV." 2. The Dolphins losing to the Pats, in the AFC Championship Game, the last game in the Orange Bowl killed me. Worse than the Canes losing to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl. 3. I hate to say it, but I think the Bears woulda beaten us in the Super Bowl.
What really killed me was we owned the Patriots in the Orange Bowl....I think we lost only once to the Pats in the Orange Bowl's history....going back about 20 years. Miami turned it over 5 or 6 times, Marino had a bad game and they ran all over us. I agree it would have been hard to beat the Bears a 2nd time, but we never got to find out. I watched the 1985 Superbowl in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in a bar down there......Y.A. Tittle was sitting a few chairs from me.
REAL! This is still and probably always will be my favorite game ever that I've attended and I've attended loads of em starting from "82 on. THe Orange Bowl always rocked in that closed endzone. It was regular in that stadium for opposing QB's to have to take a time out because they couldn't make audibles. Having said that, this game is the game where that stadium got as loud as a jet engine. THe Bears starting QB Jim McMahon was injured and didn't start the game. Getting desperate to jump start their offense, they brought McMahon into the game. When he came in they couldn't snap the ball because of all the noise. McMahon looked back pleading at the official only to get a delay of game called on him as I remember. Then the Bears finally get off the first snap only to have McMahon sacked. The crowd roared so loud I thought my head was going to explode. LOL. Greatest game ever to me. Shame we imploded against the friggin Patsies in the Championship game. We were the only team matched up well against the Bears and I fully believe we would have given them a run for their money in that Super Bowl. Mantra of the modern day Miami Dolphins..... wasted opportunities. Best games ever attended..... to me..... 85 Bears 84 AFC Championship game where we destroyed the Steelers 82 Mud Bowl AFC Championship game where AJ Duhe singlehandedly beat the hated Jets. It's going to be tough to unseat any of those games for me. I would have added the San Diego "hook and lateral" game but seeing as we lost that it's a little tainted.
http://espn.go.com/abcsports/mnf/s/greatestgames/chicagomiami1985.html Little write up on it from Monday Night football's website under their "greatest MNF games ever" series. Interesting to note that the Phins are involved in 3 of the top 5 greatest MNF games ever chosen by MNF itself.
I remember a more legendary game that took place on MNF as well, 15 years later, and the Dolphins were involved.
Wheres the option that says "I know of it but never got to watch the game. Does anyone know where I can download the game online and watch it?"
Nice try. Not even close. The 85 game was better in many ways. Marino torching what many considered the greatest team to step on a football field, Miami protecting its own record... the game that I'm not going to name doesn't even come close. As far as comebacks go the Montana/Elway MNF game near the end of Montana's career when he was with the Chiefs was even better than that one.
I was 2 years old when this game took place. Marino was God in my house as a kid. One of my earliest memories as a child is watching a Dolphins game with my dad.
The OB did rock.....but even louder than the 85 Bears game was what happened in Dec 1981 on Monday night against the Eagles. Late in the 4th, Miami trailing 10-6 Ron Jawarski comes to the line of scrimmage and it took him 8 times to finally get the ball off. Howard Cosell was going nutz (of course I taped this on VHS) in the booth, and on that 8th and final snap, Jaws threw an INT into the waiting arms of Lyle Blackwood who ran it back to the 7 or 8 yd line. The Dolphins scored on the very next play (a TD from Woodly to Nate Moore) and went on to win the game 13-10 ! Anyone else remember this game ? Also.....as you saw me write earlier I had season tix in Sec CC......yes we were known as the End Zone Animals....and I would never want seats anywhere else !
Baboo you have to see this game.....it encompasses everything about what it was to be a DolFan in the early Marino era - from the Orange Bowl, to the Monday night football excitement, to the superstar QB and protection of the Perfect Season......it had it all ! And to this day, is still the highest rated MNF game ever. I read a few years ago over 90,000,000 tuned in for that game which was almost a Super Bowl type of number.
It is a legend for me. While I was around physically, I wasn't much into football at that time. I liked finger painting better. However, in a Marissa Tomei ala My Cousin Vinnie move, I did refrence that game to some drunk guy at Red Lobser one time. I'm blanking on the exact situation, but it was one of those years a while back that the Pats were threatening to go undefeated and he asked why I was chearing for so and so team. I replied that A. I'm a dolphins fan, I hate the patriots. B. The only team in NFL history to go undefeated were the 72 dolphins. The 85 Bears came close only to loose to the phins on monday night football, thus securing the fins place in history. I think I may have been speaking with a Long Island accent too! jk Then he looked at his friends like I was crazy. Oh well, I guess you could say I am.
I have the '85 Bears game on DVD and watch it from time to time. That was a very magical night. I remember it well. I was watching with a few friends who were Bear's fans and they were just shocked at what we were witnessing. I was loving every minute of it. The one thing about that game was the electricity in the air that night. The Orange Bowl was normally crazy but that night wow! It was something special. It is my favorite Dolphins game by far.
God Alen.....you make me feel so damn old I already had my 1st degree and was working for Southern Air Transport in the accounting dept.
I remember that game so well, I was higher than Ricky Williams. I was 20 back then, and that will be one of the games I will remember forever. Just to clear something up, higher=drunk for me
My achin' heart bleeds... I was 36 years old, and watched it on TV - Bad no remote, on the air, outdoor antenna TV at that!!!
