Wow didn't see that comming. Apparently they think they can upgrade anywhere. Guess its true no one's job is ever safe. Thought he did a good job, except for maybe running through the tackles this year. And he lost 2 of his starting guards.
Thats what i'm wondering, was it performance based or was there some behind the scenes incident that has not been brought to light its hard to imagine it was performance based.
I thought the line was pretty decent considering the injuries we had there. We lose Donald Thomas early, then Smiley goes down....what could we have done with the talent that was surrounded. He must have pi$$ed Tony and Bill off.
Im a bit surprised by this... I thought our O-line was alright this year, even with two backup guards. Running up the middle was always tough, so i guess maybe it is fitting that we're looking towards making a change here.
I think it might be interesting to note that Maurice Jones Drew excelled under both Dorrell and Cable at UCLA and that their program flourished offensively under Dorrell and Cable (who was the OC under Dorrell). If its true that Dorrell is being groomed for Henning's position, I wouldn't be surprised if those two reunited for another go round.
Satele regressed. Lack of development of younger players. The fact that there was no one to step up and perform adequately after Smiley went down. The performance of the line seemed to have more to do with talent acquisition (Long, Smiley, Thomas) than with talent development (Murphy, Satele). Donald Thomas in this category too because it appears that a lot of teams, not just the 'phins, underestimated his ability. You have to bank on the fact that your O-line will have injuries throughout the course of a season and you do need to develop young players.
I expect to see our ST coach nixed, even though he did do a good job with Carpenter and Fields, but our KR and PR was awful along with the tackling in the beginning of the year.
looking at the stats, we kind of look like jerks firing him. Haha. Top 12 in passing and rushing yet still fired the o line coach.
Oh i don't dissapprove of the move. I'm ertain we can do better. Just looking at it like other non-fin fans will be.
When your head coach is an ex offensive line coach tthe pressure has to be tremendous. It's gonna be tough to meet his expectations, and whoever it is will be one tough SOB.
didnt see this one coming, but am happy about the move regardless, it shows that, although a very formidable rushing offense, 12 is definately not where we want to be... Considering this move, I expect us to be around a 5+ rushing offense in 2009
I would not be walking too far on the plank in saying George Deleone has a damn fine chance to get the job.... http://miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/coachingstaff/coachingstaff_deleone_g.asp
Very interesting... Im not all that impressed with his bachground, but a huige game is not what you know, but who you know, and since Sparano and Deleone are both from Connecticut... West Haven and New Haven, I dont see this as a reach by any means.. Just hope he is up for the task
you really gotta look at what got us those top 12. I mean to be honest, our run game wasnt good without the wildcat and our pass blocking benefited from Pennys pocket presence and short passing game.
Whats' weird..for a .000001 of a second I thought they were talking about Sparano...I know, i sound ******ed...
It's a loooong offseason Pretty sure they wouldn't fire him "just becuase" Im sure they had few conversations during the season, where they asked him to work and improve on certain things, looks like he didin't do his job too well...As if right now, Im not question anything our FO does...Im like a newborn in mommas hands...Hmm..that was a weird comperison You guys get the point.
Some talk is the Giants assistant line coach: Dave DeGuglielmo http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/miami-dolphins/story/853343.html
Indeed. The offense sputtered when Cable left. I'd rather have him as OC than run-run-pass-punt Dorrell. Would love to have him as OL coach though.
Gotta be something behind the scenes we're not seeing here. Maybe Sparano was doing most of the work coaching the O line?
I have seen the guy coach'em up in practice and I can honestly say that I have seen none better. DeLeone is one of the more animated coaches I have ever seen during a practice session. Having said that, I can't say anything about Maser nor DeLeone as a matter of fact as it pertains to gametime.
