I don't know how far-fetched this might sound to all of you, but i just thought about this possibility. Our #1 overall pick to the Detroit Lions for Calvin Johnson and a second round pick (possibly their first round pick instead, but it seems a little much). With Martz gone from Detroit it seems they might go towards a different style offense, one in need of a franchise running back. Two Words......Darren McFadden. This would not only benefit us by giving us a true impact player, but by also not allowing a team in the AFC East (Jets, God forbid the Patriots) to snag him either. Now I know everyone thinks the Fins need to focus on defense, but with a late first round pick or 3 second round picks, I'm sure we could draft some very high quality defense players.
Roy Williams will leave (via trade) before Johnson does. Roy Williams would look hella good lined up across from Ted Ginn Jr.
ill tarde our 1st, with Det for Williams their 1st and a 2nd. is det pick top 10? before i say ill do this trade loll
That wouldn't hapen I don't think. Everyone talks about trades but from where I sit I think the best partner for a trade would be someone like the Bears or the Broncos. Both would love McFadden and both are teams that are close but not quite there, which means they would be willing to sacrifice some picks.
No way they trade Johnson....absolutely none! Do you know what kind of a cap hit they would take? Also, why would they trade the best wr prospect in years? Roy Williams may be traded. Mike Furrey isn't getting any younger. Besides, history has proved that there are many quality running backs to be found in later rounds.
I don't think it would happen. CJ's got potential and Detroit will look to keep him around. But it could if Millen pulls a Millen.
Normally, I believe you "never say never". However, I'm going to make an exception this time. This trade would never happen. I'm sorry, but what on earth would lead you to believe that Detroit would give one second's thought to trading the person they JUST drafted to be their playmaker WR? There's a better chance of ZT playing safety next year than this trade happening.
I like Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson however IMO a wide receiver is the last position Iwould be looking for. We need solid lines(trenches) and defense or it ain't gonna matter who's at WR.
It is literally impossible to do this trade. Why do people forget about the salary cap when they think of these trades? The guy isn't even into year 2 of a 5yr, roughly $30+ million contract. However, surprised no one said it, but, the Lions are avidly shopping Roy Williams (WR) and Shaun Rogers.
C'mon fellas. Stop posting these fantastical trade scenarios. When's the last time you saw a team trade their No. 1 overall pick from the previous season? The answer, in case you're wondering, is nevah!
they need a running back and they could select run DMC. i say we swap firsts and they give us williams and possibly a 2nd or 3rd. ill do that and i think matt millen would really consider it. I wish some of these ideas would be thrown out to parcells so he could see who wants out. hopefully he takes a look at this site like cam did lol
I'll trust Parcells and Ireland to make the right decisions one how to build this team. If it were up to the people here we would be raping every team in the NFL by sending them our scrubs for their ProBowlers. Some of these trade scenerios are silly IMO.
Why would Detroit trade Calvin Johnson? Also, why would we trade the first pick in the draft for a WR?
lol what i meant was like i wish he would read some of the threads that state who wants out and whos on their way out because he could take a look at it
They passed up on Adrian Peterson for Calvin, why would they trade him for potentially a lesser player a year later? Never going to happen.
It is so much easier just to trade for picks. it gets so much more complicated when it comes to players for picks. This deal wont be done for sure.
Even they finished 30th in the league, Bears' roster has some good running backs. The same year we picked Ronnie brown they picked the so-called Ricky's clone, Cedric Benson. His NFL carer has been full of injuries, but his quality is out of question. Also their Adrian Peterson (not Minnesota's rookie) is good enough to serve as 3rd running back. That means they are lacking of a nice 2nd RB to share the load. Mostly the Bears have been suffering of long yardage in 3rd down, where they must use their passing schemes. That and the fact that his stellar player is their KR/PR, reduces running stats. But they need to add weapons in their offensive system, so McFadden sounds pretty attractive on them. Broncos are looking a good way to repair their offensive line, but a talented guy like McFadden is hard to find. This wasn't a good year for Travis Henry's stats, and we can find three explanations, starting with the fact that he's sharing time with Selvin Young, a rookie with decent numbers, 729 yards in 140 carries, but only 1 TD. Second is the O-line, where Rice Takes points Broncos must improve, because it seems inexcusable that the entire team made only 10 rushing TD, leading to put most of that responsibility under the O-line. The final point is that Henry, having only 4 TD, seems to be dispensable for the Broncos, opening a big chance to trade with them. Other markets for McFadden are KC, where Priest Holmes may not return next season, Atlanta if they can find previously a franchise QB, and Houston, where they're suffering finding offensive power.
They would not...the cap hit would be crazy. That rumor must be from a few drunk lads that meant to say "Roy Williams". There is talk about him leaving. Miami would only trade a 1st round pick for a WR, if they traded down to 20-31. The trade value is crazy. You can trade for a stud player for a decent Day 1 pick or good 4th rounder. But if you want to trade up for a player in the draft. It takes a crazy amount of points (Picks, Picks & Picks.) to move up. Then you only hope the guy is not hype and a bust. Then you have to pay that Rookie larger amounts than most PRO BOWLER STARTERS if you trade up in the TOP 5. Could you imagine if people coming out of College every year were being paid what a CFO or CEO gets paid. Man I hope the new guy and just pick up where Bill Gates left off. If not, we are all out of jobs.
This is the info Buffalo is tracking about a trade for Williams. The Lions are willing to entertain offers and are looking for Vet help on Defense or a good draft pick(s)
Not that I think we are going to trade with them or anything...but the Bears running backs are crap. Cedric Benson has totally flopped. The only resemblance he has born to Ricky so far is emotional instability. He doesn't look to have speed and his power has been extremely disappointing to say the least. Theother Adrian Peterson is actually the best back on the Bears roster right now and that isn't saying much.
Well regaurding the QB there are Rumors (so who really knows) That they are going to offer something for Losman, For some reason the Bears fans actually like him, and the Bills have been able to deal with the Bears Since DJ Got there. IE The trade up for McCargo The trade of Darwin Walker Now even more recent the Rumors of the Bears endorsing Gabriel to become our next GM
LMAO, the Bears are worse at evaluating QB talent than we are! I was very sad when the Bills realized that Trent was a much better QB than Losman could ever hope to be.
I agree it makes me laugh. I am glad Marv was able to land Trent in the late Third. I hope we get what was rumored to have been offered for JP A second this year and conditional 4th next
Highway robbery if you do, and that whooshing sound you hear? It's either the Bear's window of opportunity slamming shut or their hopes flushing down the toilet...take your pick.
LMAO, and that robbery might end the link of dealings that we have with the Bears as well. But O Well I hope it happens
Agree!!! This trade lacks of logic, because on one side a franchise WR like Johnson needs time to adapt 100% into NFL, so Detroit's coaches are waiting Calvin may impact the league during future seasons. Also the main reason we want to trade this pick, is because in this draft there seems to be nobody worth of a +30 million contract, I mean, the real value of DMC may be worth of that, but he's the only one in that level, Dorsey is a risky business because of this season injuries. Long may be a great OT, but he's far from a #1 pick. So Detroit won't change Calvin Johnson for DMC. But a more complex trade involving Roy Williams, an exchange of first rounds, and additional pick for us, may happen.
