I don't get that either. I may be in the minority, but I want more then just games. To me, high def media is a huge selling point.
Where do I buy that new add-on? Games is important sure, but I'd also like a little multimedia capability in it (saves me from having to buy another player) and it's one reason I never got a GameCube. Besides, I love the games for the 360 and PS3 (360 mostly). Could never get into any Wii game for more than 45 minutes.
I can buy a media player for that. Don't force me to pay extra for that when the sole purpose of a console is to play games.
well they're actually STILL making ps2 games. In fact, Persona 4 may be one of the ps2s best games of all and it just came out a few weeks ago. So if they're still making the games, everyone who has a ps3 should be able to play that game, right? Some people actually don't have a ps2, or like you, don't have it hooked up anymore. Persona 4 (or any of the awesome ps2 RPGs), if it could be played on your ps3, would actually be the best RPG the ps3 has to offer, but if yours isnt BC, then it can't play that game. It didn't matter if the 360 wasn't BC or not, because the original Xbox had about 5 great games and thats it. The ps2 has about 40. Aren't you a little annoyed that you have a giant stack of ps2 games that can't be played on your ps3? Just a little?
Thats what next generation consoles do now. Both play mp3s, movies, digital download. Both companies are trying to make their system the family entertainment hub.
well thats a different argument entirely. (for me, i'd go with FFX) My point simply being, there were tons of awesome games on the ps2 that if you wished to play, you'd have to hook up your outdated system. Well, not all ps3 owners, but the majority yes.
Is it really outdated if they are still making games? Hell, the best selling console is technologically outdated IMO.
true true. but heres the question, is your ps2 still hooked up? Cause mines in a box somewhere. And i don't where the box is.
Mine died (which is part of the reason I got a ps3). My fiance's ps2 is hooked up in our bedroom though.
Why can't people just enjoy the system they own without having to try and prove that the one they own is the best. I don't see how you can go wrong with either system. I would own all 3 if I could, but just because i only own two the nextgen systems doesn't mean the other one I don't own is the bad one. (technically I only play one of the systems the other one my kids play)
did you even read the original post? This whole thread was about someone who wants a ps3 but already has a 360. Comparing the systems was the whole point.
I don't like the controllers as well as the PS3's, but thats not a big deal to me either. The overall feel of the X-Box 360 and the games just does not feel right. I honestly don't know why this is though. The graphics are relatively the same (X-Box 360's lighting in games is way better IMO, but the overall attention to detail in the PS3's graphics are better IMO). Like I said before I can't really explain why it just doesn't feel right. Anyway I got some time so I'll probably play the 360 and PS2 over this semester and hopefully I warm up to it. Someone else said that I might just want what I can't/don't have. I think that is a very, very valid point because that often happens to me.
I bought the original PS3 when it came out, the 60gig, BC with most PS2 games. I was never impressed with the library that was available. I hated going into Blockbuster and seeing a full isle of 360 games and about 10 PS3 games. Obviously thats changed now. I bought my 360 about 6 months after I had the PS3 and I love it. I mostly play games online, COD 4 and 5 and Rock Band and GTA4. I don't know why, but I just like the 360 gaming better. The PS3 took place of my DVD player. We only use that for movies and storage of music. The 360 did take a giant leap forward with the streaming of netflix. Here's my opinion. If you want strickly games. 360 all the way. Better library mainly because of the units that are out there. Reliablity or not, still havent had a problem with mine. Also, I use regular rechargable AA batteries in the controller, no additional purchases. Get a PS3 if you want Blu-ray and a music keg, with the ability to game. IMO.
You made your initial impression when one system was out a year longer? Of course it should have more games available to rent. PS: rechargeable AAs are an additional purchase.
back to the original point of the posters and what you should do with the 360 and a way to get atleast some of the money back.. why don't you make a rent to own type of deal with your brothers(or a friend you really really trust to pay you? say something like 20-30 bucks a week from each? in about a month you could have the rest of the $120.00 or whatever you were wanting. i'd run it through mom first and stress that if they fail to pay a week you get the system back with no return of money already acumulated.
no no no no no. I bought my Xbox because of what it could do, not only to play its games. I download and stream movies, music, pictures, over to my Xbox to vie them on the Big screen. Not only am I enjoying great games with it, but now I can also use the new NXE to watch streaming netflix movies, photo party to share photos with friends, use the party system to chat with up to 8 people at once, and if I choose I can always join them in a game. There are many many things that these consoles do that market to buyers, other than just running video games.
Maybe he doesn't like his Xbox because it's a shoddily made piece of crap like most of Microsoft's products.
But you are not charged extra for those options. You rent movies from Netflix if you want. Xbox sold the HD-DVD as an add-on, if you wanted it. Sony said, "Hey, heres our new Blue-Ray format and if you want a PS3, you are gonna have to play the extra bucks for the drive." even if you were not gonna use it. I hate having **** shoved down my throat. If all you want to do is game, then you can purchase a Xbox, with just a memory card for less than the cheapest PS3. Yeah, I know the PS3 comes with this and that, but if I wanna game I don't want all that crap. That's my point! You are selling a console. Give me and option to buy the other crap later if I want it.
I do agree Microsoft has put out some crap, but the hardware issue does seem to be getting better. That's one more reason you don't buy a gaming console at launch or close to launch.
You use it every time you play a ps3 game. Except you have to pay to play online with a 360, so two years of online gaming and you paid as much as a ps3 costs. Not to mention if you really want to game you'd get some amazing games off xbox live as well as game add-ons etc, none of which can really fit onto those memory cards. Honestly, if all you want to do is game you get a wii. Because aside from the crappy browser and poor online system that is about all you can do. If it's cheaper for them to make in a bundle, or from a business standpoint better to bundle it all together, then why would they cater to just you? Most people do want "that other crap."
I believe we round up all the hot surviving species and breed them back to prominence. I'll start first.
"Casually game" sounds a bit better. I would rather take a 6 hour test than spend another hour on Wii Play.
Good idea. My brother actually offered to give me $100 straight up for it, but being the good older brother I am I reminded him about the large sum of money (about $1,000) he owes my mom. I was there before though, class ring, car payments, etc. life starts to kick in then. Unlike him I am very good with managing money, I actually could afford to buy the PS3 right now if I wanted I just like to have about a $1,000 cushion in case anything goes wrong with my car or something like that. Wow, I got off topic. Anyway I am going home this weekend. I hope they missed the 360 so much that they offer to pay me $100 or something like that. If he doesn't want to do that I would consider doing something like they get to keep it, but have to make payments on purchasing the system like $20.00 or $10.00 a week.
Yes, thats why its called an "initial impression." I said I hated going into Blockbuster because of game availablity, but that has obviously changed now. With the batteries, I am not forced to buy them specifically for he xbox. I can use then anywhere in the house if I need to. Plus a heck of a lot cheaper than the rechargable battery pack for the 360. There's nothing wrong with the PS3. I own one and never said i regretted it. I just stated what I used it for, and my opinion.
What if I am content just buying and renting games? What if I don't care for online play? If I decided I wanted to download games then I would purchase a HDD. Microsoft released the 3 different systems. One stripped so that you could buy the system and buy other stuff as you went along. Maybe more expensive in the long run if you decided you wanted the other "crap". But if I am happy with my console, a controller, and a memory card, then I come out cheaper.
