I got no link, cause I heard it on Mike & Mike this morning from John Clayton. Clayton said that the jets owner, Woody Johnson (I always chuckle at that name) went on a long vacation after the season. His absence was the main reason why Bill Cowher chose to not interview with the jets. Cowher was very interested in coaching the jets, but he did not want to interview for a team without the presence of the team's owner. He made that point clear to jet management, but Woody Johnson decided that his vacation was more important than wooing Bill Freaking Cowher!!! Remember when Huizinga was wooing Saban? Didn't he fly his private jet to Louisiana to meet with Saban on Xmas day? I believe he did. Kudos to Huizinga and I hope our new owner will follow suit!
After what I read in the Herald today......I am rather depressed about what our future owner can/will do. I thought this was going to be a fun off-season. Its looking more and more like it will be a disaster if the projections come true.
What was that? His ties with Peterson? If he keeps him on the business end of things...ok I guess, just don't put him in charge of football operations.
Im worried about a "Too Many Chefs" scenario. And for some reason Ive never liked Peterson... maybe it was the Trent Green situation.
Maybe it's the fact that under him the Chiefs have been an average team for the most part? And he seemed to be happy with Herm Edwards as a coach, despite the fact that the team seems to be regressing under his watch? Keep that ****er away from Football Operations, let him manage parking prices and so forth.
off topic, anyone else think the positioning of the tags are funny? blow, huizenga or, jets anyway i don't thing it will be bad as long as Peterson has nothing to do with controlling the team... Its like having a father of a company has no place to put his incompetent son so he gives him a desk job...
Yes Peterson.....doesn't that scare the hell out of everyone ? Could Ross be that stupid ? If he lets Parcells go and replaces him with Peterson, Ireland & Sparano may just quit. However is/are there clauses in their contracts that prevent them from just quitting and then being hired by someone else ? Are there like "no-compete" clauses in the contracts ?
As stated by me before, its was the Trent Green thing that got on my nerves. They hated him in KC, and his results the last few years were not that impressive.
With season ticket prices at a high this year I don't see Ross making a Rash move like that. He is a businessman, and he'll (hopefully) keep that in mind regarding his buddy here.
Yea, Wayne would never hire anyone like Saban, Wanny, or Cam Cameron..And he would never screw over a HOF coach like Shula. Be thankful for Joe Robbie. He actually cared about your team. I am not defending Woody...he is an ***, but do not act like your owner really gives 2 ****s about anything but $$$$$$$$$$
Wanny was JJ's parting gift, and both Saban and Can't Cameron came in with high hopes for success, I don't blame Wayne for any of those moves. I'm sure money is a priority with Wayne, but if it was the only priority why would he pay a Guy like the Tuna big bucks to come here, when we could just as easily brought in a less expensive option?
What an ignorant post. Huizinga successfully wooed and doled out the cash for Jimmy Johnson and Nick Saban, who, at the time, were highly sought after coaches. They didn't work out, but objectively speaking, they were the best coaches on the market...just like how Bill Cowher is now. He also landed Bill Parcells and gave him a great contract, cause he wanted to WIN. Huizinga doesn't care about the team and only cares about money? Give me some examples (other than wanting to sell the team), Mr. Miami Dolphins Historian.
No disrepect but these parcells leaving threads are annoyong as hell, THE MAN IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!
You want to rip our owner? Go worry about your own. What exactly has he done for you? Wayne H. has always done anything he's asked for this organization. JJ and Saban were hires that were highly lauded. He had very bad luck on both. He was duped into hiring Wanny by a football mind he very much respected in JJ. Cam Cameron came during a time when the available coaching ranks were very slim. He learned his lessons and brought in one of the most revered team builders in the NFL at this point. Yeah, he made a few bad decisions. The biggest in trusting JJ's opinion to hire Wanny and more importantly to give Wanny full control over personnel. It was one mistake but not one that makes him a bad owner in any regards. It reeks of green poop to have a Jet fan in here ripping Wayne H.
So... when we beat the Ravens last year to win our only game... Wayne H. was brought to tears because of... his increased revenues from winning the game? Dude... puh-lease... go back to to your own team's fansite if you're just gonna stir ****.
your right brother..iam sorry, iam basically talking to the ones who keep giving creedence to unstantiated reports.
Yeah! I couldn't believe that when I heard it. What a joke. It shows having a good owner is very important for the franchise. Enjoy the depths of despair Jet fans. Sorry, but it looks like you may be there for awhile with this clown that you have in charge.
Just wait until the new owner takes over...The same guy who is now asking for federal bailout money..
You guys are the ones who I are going to need the bailout after all of that wasted money you spent in the off-season. Where did it get you? ..and now you're going to have to find a QB...that's an easy one =D and you don't have as high a draft pick this year as last and your last high draft pick was wasted on a bench warmer. Pssh! Good luck.
Can you send me the link to that thread? That has been my concern with Ross, and I would like to read that article.
The Jets are 14 mill under the cap if Favre retires... Our last early 1st round pick was a waste, but we also got Keller in the first..and he was a very good TE this year..But, ignore hte fact that most of the Jets late first to 4th round picks over the last 4 years have been studs...
Oh, really? 2004 1. Jon Vilma - Got cut. Signed a 1 year deal wit Saints. Currently a free agent. NOT A STUD 2. No Pick 3. Derrick Strait NOT A STUD 4. Jerricho Cothcery Great pick for the 4th round, but NOT A STUD, but I'll give it to you for argument's sake - STUD 2005 1. No Pick 2. Mike Nugent NOT A STUD 2. Justin Miller NOT A STUD 3. Sihone Pouha WHO??? 4. Kerry Rhodes Great Pick for the 4th Round - STUD 2006 1. D'Bustashaw Ferguson - Nice player, if he was taken in the 4th round, not 4th overall. 1. Nick Mangold STUD 2. Kellen Clemens - NOT A STUD 3. Anthony Schlegel - NOT A STUD 3. Eric Smith - NOT A STUD 4. Brad Smith - NOT A STUD 4. Leon Washington - STUD? 2007 1. Darrell Revis - STUD 2. David Harris NOT A STUD 3. No Pick 4. No Pick 2008 Too soon to tell Conclusion You got Cotchery, Rhodes, Mangold, Washington, and Revis. That's 4 out of 16. 25% stud rate does not equal "most of your picks". jets suck. The numbers back it up.
Vilma was a trade, not a cut.. J-co is a stud possession WR Leon is a stud PR/KR/3rd Down RB David Harris is a stud MLB
1. Vilma was traded for a 4th round pick. You're right. My bad. That said, "studs" don't get traded for 4th round picks unless they are headcases and Vilma is/was not. NOT A STUD. 2. I granted Leon "stud" status. 3. I granted Crotchery "stud" status (even though he ain't. 858 yards and 5 TDs makes you an average starting WR in the NFL) 4. David Harris is a nice player with some upside potential. Conclusion: Even when I give you the benefit of the doubt, you are COMPLETELY WRONG when you assert that "most of the Jets late first to 4th round picks over the last 4 years have been studs..." In fact, even if I do grant "stud" status to Cotchery, Vilma, and Harris, that increases your stud total to 7 out of 16 picks, which is 43%, which is certainly does not qualify as "most". jetsuck
