I know some people were, but man, I thought the pacing was fantastic and the storyline pretty compelling. There was a also a great Blue Ray feature that was a sit-down discussion between the director, J.R. Dobson (?) and his mentor, John Badham of WarGames fame.

Just finished watching Gran Torino. Man, what a great movie! Clint Eastwood is the man! He still makes you believe he could kick your ***, even at his age.

Doomsday - movie is just awful. It's quite violent, but disturbingly so at parts. 1.5/5

Jumper - was expecting it to be worse tbh, though the middle was really boring. 2/5

That's funny, because I rather liked Doomsday and found Jumper to be one of the worst things I've ever seen.

I've been streaming Netflix to my XBox 360 like a fool recently. Plus I'm old now so all I have to do is watch movies.

    • Blue State - Cute film, a little on the short side, and a bit of a ridiculous premise. Still, I enjoyed it. 3.5/5
    • Confessions of a Superhero - Documentary film about the folks who dress up in costumes outside the LA theaters. Really interesting piece of filmmaking. 4.5/5
    • Dan In Real Life - Steve Carrell is the man. This is my second favorite film he's done, right behind Little Miss Sunshine. Mrs. Odin cried at several times in this. 4/5
    • High Fidelity - I somehow missed this during my childhood, don't really know how as I've always liked John Cusak. Reminded me of a more mature Empire Records, another film from the same time period. I liked it, but the ending was a bit sappy for me. 4/5

I'm still anxiously awaiting Gran Torino and the The Wrestler to make it somewhere - anywhere - near where I live so that I can check them out. Looks like I'll be able to see Gran Torino as of Friday here in town, but still no The Wrestler.

Ive somehow managed to miss out on seeing High Fidelity as well. Almost started a couple times recently but something came up. Guess I'll have to give Dan in Real Life a look on In Demand as well while they still offer it.

Bringing Out the Dead - 8/10...Crazy movie, loved it, and I'm generally not a big Nic Cage fan.

The Darjeeling Limited - 8/10...just a funny and very entertaining film, definitely recommend.

    The Number 23
    - 4/10...wasn't a fan of this movie, or of Carrey.

The Spirit - 7/10...Wasn't expecting much going in, but I actually rather enjoyed it. Samuel L. Jackson made this movie IMO. It had just the right amount of super hero content, fighting, story line, and comedy to work...of course however, this movie would not be the same w/out the artistry of Frank Miller.

'Charlie Wilson's War'. I didn't see it in the theater. I just saw it when it came to cable. I really liked it. I thought Phillip Seymour Hoffman(sp?) was really amazing in that movie. I loved his character.

AMAZING performance. Mrs. Z. and I rewound his opening monologue and watched it again -- it was that good.

Aaron Sorkin writes a damn good script 99% of the time.

You know I thought it was good as well but alot of people I talked to about it thought it was "just ok"

I had no idea Pacino was the killer, I though Deniro was the whole time.

I thought it was Pacino from the opening credits, no joke. As soon as they showed him playing chess and DeNiro at a baseball game I thought it was Pacino. And in those movies it's never the most obvious guy (even the trailer wanted you to think it was Deniro.) and there really wasnt anyone else it could have been...so Pacino was pretty obvious I thought.

The acting was good. Just wish they'd either done a better movie together or not teamed up at all.

I was extremely disappointed in the movie. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought it was one of the most disappointed movies I'd seen in a while.

    Milk 9/10.
I've liked a lot of Sean Penn's performances, but this is easily the best work he's done in his career. He absolutely disappeared here. The rest of the cast did tremendous work as well.

    The Visitor 8.5/10
Another film with an impressive lead performance. Richard Jenkins (Step Brothers, Six Feet Under) is an actor I've liked for a longtime for his comedic work. But he turns in a somber and dramatic performance here. For fans of The Wire, this was written and directed by Tom McCarthy who played the sleazy reporter in the final season.

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall 8/10
A really good comedy. Perhaps a few too many Apatow cameos, even though I do love Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill. But Kirsten Bell and Mila Kunis made up for it.

    Pineapple Express 9/10
I was looking forward to this all summer, then was turned off by bad word of mouth, so-so reviews, and too little free time. What a mistake that was.
The fight scene at Red's house is one of my favorite moments in film this year, it was so good we had to go back and watch it twice before continuing with the rest of the movie.

Currently halfway through Hancock, and Zohan is on deck.
