A bit off-topic, but Miami may see another bad season in sports with the Heat.

Right now, it is looking like the Miami Heat will be the worst team in the NBA soon. Currently at 8-28, and 9 straight loses. Shaq out, Wade riddled with injuries..What a year. I hope 2008 turns things around for us.

    Miami Hurricanes - Terrible season
Miami Dolphins - We all know 1-15
Florida Marlins - Need I say more?
Miami Heat - Headed to being the worst team in the NBA this season

The only two teams in South Florida that did/are doing well are the Florida Panthers and the FAU Owls (football team. Basketball team on the other hand....).

    ^Hell no.

Maybe the Men's Basketball Canes can keep it up. Let's see what happens with conference play.

lol, yeah I think the Heat are actually purposely tanking for a shot at Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley.

This offseason is gonna be extra painful with the Heat doing so poorly.

Yeah someone mentioned the Florida Panthers they're actually battling for their division, too bad I don't get too see any games up here in Carolina.

Miami's big 3 (Fins, Canes, Heat) are combined 14-50 this year. Ouch.

Twolves will make sure the Heat arent the absolute worst team. Though the Wolves did just beat the Heat so perhaps you should scratch that.

No problem man. A crappy season got us David Robinson and Tim Duncan. I'd love to go 21-61 if it'll make your team Top 3 in the Conference for at least 10 years.

    It's a good deal :glare:

It is imperative that we tank compeltely this year.

Rose or Beasley...or for that matter (I am a big OJ Mayo fan) with Wade, Cook and Haslem, Plus SHAQ (who will be interested to actually play with some talent) PLUS the ton of cap space coming our way could mean a DECADE of HEAT DOMINATION.

That is the beauty of sucking in the NBA. You have one superstar (Wade) plus some pieces and cap space....plus a lottery pick....The Heat could be CHAMPIONSHIP contenders next season.

Wishful thinking mostly with draft pick. NBA Lottery is more of a crap shoot then the NFL draft. The cap space should bring in immediate help next year.

I'm not a Heat fan, but Mayo would be HORRIBLE for the Heat (he's a chucker).

As I said on the regular board, the Heat's problem is not only could they not execute plan A this offseason, they missed on plan B,C, and D.

The Heat really wanted Mo Williams, he stayed in Milwaukee; ok. Charlie Bell is signed as to an offer sheet, Bucks match, nothing you can do. Steve Blake openly said he wanted to go to Miami, Heat didn't even look his way. Had trades in line for Maggette and Artest, didn't pull the trigger.

The Heat end up signing Smush Parker (horrible player), who has barely played due to charecter issues, and Penny Hardaway (waived). Plus Wright has not developed into the player they hoped he would be (partially their fault, partially Wright's fault). Plus they lost Posey and Kapono

The Heat should look at 3 people: Derrick Rose (duh), Michael Beasley (duh), or DeAndre Jordan (who will be good, but his very raw).

The Heat are not a hard rebuild, but they got to make the right moves this offseason. No omre older players.

O.J. Mayo isn't a realistic option for Miami unless we get screwed in the lottery and fall beyond #5-6. He's a #8-10 type of guy to me, although I'd probably take him at #6 or #7 but I don't see Riley taking the risk on a possible headcase.

Derrick Rose is the number one option for me; he really seems like another Dwyane Wade but more of a true point guard. Not just his game play, but his personality as well -- very comparable to Wade. Beasley has some attitude issues, but he plays fundamental basketball and can put up some beastly numbers. It's obvious that we have a hole that SF as well, and I think Beasley would give Miami a perimeter/inside combo presence that we haven't had since Lamar Odom, and he's a hell of a rebounder with a nasty finishing touch to round that off.

If Miami winds up #3, I'd probably go for DeAndre Jordan. In the few A&M games I've seen, he reminds me a lot of Andrew Bynum, yet much more athletic and well rounded. Could be a nice touch to develop behind Shaq, and Dwyane Wade's unselfish play would allow that. He'd play often since Shaq's pathetic *** can't stay on the floor.

At #4, I'd go for Jordan or Gordon depending on who goes #3. Most people are against Eric Gordon's backcourt fit with Dwyane, but if he can further develop as a passer then I'd welcome it. His outside shot would be amazing next to Wade, so would his relentless demeanor at attacking the rack.

Now, #5 would be a disaster, because we'd be stuck with Donte Green. Take nothing away from Donte Green, but after such a terrible season, I'd be disappointed if we don't wind up with Beasley, Rose, Gordon, or Jordan. This team definitely needs a sure fire #2 option for the future who can lead the team if/when Wade is injured. I think Green will become more of a complementary type. Well, maybe someone else moves up. Jerryd Bayless is playing some damn good basketball right now!

Portland is something special right now, man. I know that you're a hardcore fan from our days in the 'Other Sports' section, so my hats are off to you and your team for a successful, surprising start to the 2007-2008 season.

When Greg Oden got hurt, I thought to myself, wow.. this is a blessing in disguise for Portland. Already overly talented with Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster, etc. -- and they're going to suck it up again this year and add Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose to the talent pool, lol.

But wow, I am amazed at their play without Greg Oden in the middle. What an exciting team to look forward to in 2008-2009, and I'd imagine they are going to have a ton of cap space with Gilbert Arenas, Allen Iverson, and a few others available? Picture this line-up:

    G - Gilbert Arenas
    G - Brandon Roy
    F - Travis Outlaw
    F - LaMarcus Aldridge
    C - Greg Oden

^Martell Webster, Steve Blake, Jarret Jack, James Jones, Channing Frye off the bench.

WOW! I'm not sure if Portland will have huge cap relief this year or next, but maybe you consider saving it for 2010 when you can try convincing Wade, LeBron, Kobe, or one of those guys to join such a young and talented team.

The Heat's season was over when they signed Smush Parker. Now that's desperation. As for me, I'm glad the Lakers are getting it together right now.

yeah picture rose with the team if they sucked this year lol...prolly too young

the team is set up to have a ton of salary relief offseason of 2009. which is when roy and aldridge would need to get resigned..supposbly have enough for a big free agent too..all the fans want chris paul but im not even sure he is going to be a free agent.

broy should make the all star game!!

I can't see Chris Paul staying in that horrific market although he seems to have taken the Drew Brees approach with the city of New Orleans. Paul would look great in Portland. The Blazers = a team I'd actually love to succeed and win a title because they don't have any loud mouths or disruptions within the organization. What a change since the days of being referred to since the Jail Blazers, lol.....
