Then I take it back, but I would imagine if you have a clear path to the ball and you're in as good a position as he was, then you're gonna make sure your team knows its your ball.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't be shocked if this doesn't happen and he's not here when his deal runs up.

For starting purposes: LB, S, WR (a tall one).
For depth purposes: OL, CB, DL.

considering we get our injured guys back to the field successfully.

Boomer's guy Max Unger would fit in nicely. I still like Mack, but second round. The Guards Smiley/Thomas have to return, and we need a physical, true #1 WR. Defense didn't lose this game and worse yet get blown out of the water, offense did.

I think we'll see Henne at some point next season b/c Chad has never made it two years in a row without injury. Chad made some poor decisions but I don't think it's fair to say he can't advance in the playoffs. He was a competent kicker away from playing in the AFC championship.

Personally I think in an act of revenge Brett Favre somehow possessed him, thus explaining all of those throws he tried to make down the field into coverage.

I think I would be. Letting him go would be a huge mistake. He will be completely healthy next season and have four years experience under his belt. He is hitting the prime of his career, you just can't let him walk.

Crowder is tough to tell. I think the guys they've wanted to sign they have signed.

Might just be my opinion, though.

Agreed on most everything except the Pennington comment. Lack of talent on the interior OL and WR positions isn't his fault. He had a bad game, but geez the guy was 2nd in voting for NFL MVP and people are calling for his replacement. That's more than a little aggressive in my opinion. He had a great year and he was pressured/getting the crap beaten out of him a lot today. Give him some help and see what he can do next year.

I would really like to see the Dolphins get a number one WR, even if it means trading a pick or two. We have seen all year that Ginn isn't a consistent number one at all, but I think Camarillo is a reliable number two. Looking at what I saw today, and through the season, Ginn could be the odd man out in the offense. I still think Ginn will be on the team, but if we acquire another WR, that is an actual #1 target, Ginn might not get as many balls as he has gotten this year.

If he wants a big deal, I don't see him getting it here. You can get a running back later in the draft for a cheaper price, especially when your not asking him to be your featured back.

Miami needs to continue working on getting a power running game. With that Pennington is more than good enough to win a Super Bowl. You don't have to have Peyton Manning to win a Super Bowl. You can even win playoff games with a rookie QB completing less than half of his passes if you can run the ball and play tough defense.

For all anybody knows Ricky will start smoking pot again during the offseason. It would be foolish not to give Ronnie whatever he wants to stay. They may start using him as a feature back. A lot of teams use multiple backs these days anyway.

Why? It will only create problems as it will disrupt chemistry. Plus most of the time QB controversies rarely help a team. The best thing to do would be to give the ball to the QB that took a 1-15 team to a 11-5 team and if Pennington blows his chance give the ball to Henne. I still have confidence as his 16 game record trumps his 1 game record and any QB is going to get killed playing that Baltimore defense. Yes 4 INTs was a bit much but Pennington is a timing and price route reading QB. Had the Fins had any sort of an running game those routes would have opened up. The real key to this team will be getting a better O-Line that can open up holes for the running game, if that happens Pennington will be successful even against defenses like Baltimore's. In fact Miami could be exactly like Carolina with a better O-Line (great backfield with a competent QB who can make the plays needed to win). Baltimore played exactly on every part of the Fins' offense's weaknesses.

I just think a QB controversy will hurt this team far more than help it.

Like Muscle said give Penny a good running game and he can easily when this team a Super Bowl. Weird how the guy goes from savior/MVP to not even the starting QB in less than a 24 hour period. :pity:

If a guy who has exactly one season under his belt asks for top dollar from me and he's not a feature back, I wouldn't give it to him. If the price is right, I would bring him back.

That's the point and that's what we're doing. Why pay top dollar when you can find a guy through the draft that will run hard for you at a cheaper price?

Well, almost all of them are. That's why I think RBs and their agents will have to understand they can command a lot less money than they could, otherwise they'll find themselves selling cell phones in Denver.

I'm sure it's been said, but for me.

1 - A mean nasty center. (not so worried about the guards because we lost two great ones to injury).
    2 - A big play, true #1 wide receiver.
    3 - A defensive pass rush.

I agree with that. It's relatively easy to find quality backs, that's why I think Ronnie won't ask for a ridiculous payday.

If you believe that this coaching staff can maintain the momentum from 2008, and keep the remaining players focused on the team first, then the Dolphins don't actually have one need. They have talent at every position. They need more depth at many, and could definitely use a big receiver since Wilford didn't pan out. But this coaching staff seems to be able to get the Dolphins to play as a team, despite deficiencies in talent.

They have two positions, QB and RB, where there is no space on the roster for new players. But everything else can be upgraded, the Dolphins can actually take a Best Player Available approach in free agency and the draft. If a great WR, T, ILB, S, TE, G, C, DT, DE, CB is available, they take them. But there is no one position that needs to be upgraded over others. IMHO.

IMO, we need to address the center, OG and RT positions. I know Smiley and Thomas should be back but I want something more there then the journeymen we had there most of this season.
On defense we need to replace most if not all of the LB Corps. Everyone talks about the passrush which I agree with. I think that the passrush has to come from the LB corp. If you look at the Ravens defense they are strong at NT, they have great LB play but their secondary is average other then Reed. That is what we need.... better LB play.

You know, I just was thinking about this... It should be alot easier for us to get the guys we want in FA this year. Last year we came off of 1 and 15... a whole new front office, a new coaching staff... im sure alot of free agents were really hesitating on taking an offer from us. This year... Sparano has built a good reputation for himself as a coach, our staff will say mostly in tact, and were coming off an 11 and 5 season, with a division title and playoff appearance...

given the loss today... thats something to be optimistic about.

O line, D Line, Secondary and Wide Receiver. I would not really worry too much about the LB situation. I think we will be solid at that position. Running Backs are secure and the QB situation is solid again. I think Fasano and Martin are good. We need maulers on the interior of the O line and I would like to add one more pass rushing defensive lineman. Goodman and Allen played great the second half of the season. I think the Jason Allen experiment is about to come to an end and we need to add a CB and a Safety early as well.
