Pro bowls, 1,000 yds, 10+ Tds...yep...a team so sorry even Jeff Garcia could win the division with them..
And without McNabb they wouldn't have. Field an offense of just those guys with an average QB and you have a team to rival Detroit this season. Their defense saved them a lot when those 'weapons' weren't enough.
Chad Lewis never scored more than 6 touchdowns and never had more than 735 yards. Mitchell never had ten touchdowns nor did he have a 1000 yards. Reggie Brown never had either. DeSean Jackson never had 10 touchdowns receiving nor did he have 1,000 yards. Donte Stallworth never had either of the two. Todd Pinkston never had either of the two. Lewis and Mitchell were the only pro bowlers I believe and Mitchell was a returner. And yes Garcia did lead the team to the playoffs but so would have McNabb.
Manning is the closest thing to Marino the league has now. He is just amazing as a leader and as an orchestrator of an offense. That play that caught SD sleeping was awesome.
He probably doesn't have those numbers, but odds are he won't won't throw more INT then Cassel and would have come close to 40 TD if not a few over. I know TB is part of the evil empire, but come on... Give the guy some deserved credit. Tom Brady had Cassels numbers when he had Rache Caldwell as his number 1. And that isn't opinion, but fact.
My bad, I misread the wiki article, Donte and Brown combined for 15 Td's and 1.600 yds. Chad Lewis made the pro bowl, Jackson had 920 or so yds, and Staley also made the p bowl.. And Garcia using those guys to win the division makes the "McNabb had no one" line of though absurd, what next, McNabb needed a team of HoF Wr? And if the Chargers secondary had any hands at all, this game would be tied.
I've always been kinda interested in joining a Dolphins board because they used to be my favorite team when I was like, 5, but I never did look for one. Then a couple days ago some random person on the Broncos board just posted a link to here so I checked it out. This is a cool place
Jackson had 920, not 1,000 or 10 touchdowns. Staley was a decent back at best who had three solid years and the rest were injury plagued. I don't find it absurd, I find it to be true. Give McNabb one reliable target and he'll do damage. Garcia led the team to the same spot McNabb would have IMO.
Outside the pocket? A there was a reciever in the vicinity. SD looked to get away with an offsides there.
That was one of the worst holds I've ever seen, the Bolts dlineman just spun around like a helicopter rotor..
I wouldn't go that far. I'm a homer and I also believe Manning has superior teams/offenses then Dan did. Marino's best RB was a clown who stole another guys name. And best WR were 5'8" guys. No good TE either (Manning has had a few). I'd give Manning #2. But you know who statistically overrated? John Elway. Most think he's the greatest, but good lord did he have average stats. Clutch... but not blow your mind seasons.
I don't appreciate you calling me a bandwagoner. (But you could call me that, when I was 5 the Broncos won their first Superbowl and that's when I started liking them. Couldn't help it, John Elway and Terrell Davis amazed me And I only liked the Dolphins because of my grandpa) I still root for the Dolphins though (unless they play the Broncos. And the Dolphins have owned the Broncos everytime they play them ) Yeah, I've only been here 2 days but I really like it here. Back in 2005 the Broncos board was really awesome, but its gone downhill since we lost the AFCCG. Honestly, mostly all of the posters there now are idiots.
80 yds over 16 games...5 yds per game..please. The thought was "McNabb has no weapons to throw to" Not so, even Stallworth and Brown combined for 800 yds each, and 7.5 td's.. Lewis made the pro bowl, Staley did as well (IIRC) Yet no one is saying all Jeff Garcia needed was one reliable target..funny how that works...
What? The thought was that McNabb has never had anyone to throw to, as you state and you brought in a guy in DeSean Jackson who has exactly one year under his belt. I'm not ready to label him anything just yet. Stallworth was dinged up that year as well. He was a downfield threat that year and pulled his hamstring late in the year. Brown is inconsistent at best. Staley never made the Pro Bowl and Lewis did between 00-02. Garcia had Terrell Owens in San Francisco. Ironically, every Pro Bowl (outside of '07) that Garcia made, Owens was his receiver.
Oh geez. That game.... One of my favorite games ever is the 2004 Miami @ Denver game on December 12. That was my first NFL game I ever went to, and we actually beat the Dolphins
