Thanks taco. This gives me a little insight as to what was transpiring down there.I appreciate BOTH of your responses. And as you said, a teams failure is usually not all one persons fault. As seen in the Marvin Lewis situation in the 'nati, HC is different than the coordenators job. Not everyone can succeed at both. HH
I like Cam. He had a good reputation as an OC before he came to Miami and this year we've seen why. He is a class guy and I wish him well, though not tomorrow.
He is a great O.C. he just is not meant to be a head coach, ever. As for being worried about him concerning our team, its a completely different team than the one he saw even in the first time this yr we played the ravens.
Good points both. You may be right about his HC ability now but the "not ever" remains to be seen. Shanahan flopped with the Raiders before he got another chance with Denver. I wish I new more about his past situation with the phins. Was tuna the GM last year? HH
Why would Cam Cameron understand the mentality of this Dolphins team? After the Dolphins thrashed New England this wasn't the same team or the same players. Cam is an expert on the Dolphins losing tendencies, but this ain't his team anymore. Thank Bill.
His behavior after the 1st game in October was anything but classy. That is why I hope we really stick it to his offense today. Last week it was the Jets and Favre, this week Cameron.
Cam has had numerous chances, and its not just his coaching that makes me come to the conclusions I do. He was the head coach at IU, where I have worked for yrs, and am an active follower of the IU athletic programs and even today years and years after his departure his failure as a head coach is felt by the program. The coach before him was one of the all time greatest coaches this program has had, and his success led to Cam being able to recruit players such as Antwan Randle El, and Adawale Ogunleye( I am sure that isn't spelled right, lol). BUT his inability to relate and be on an equal level with his players alienated them and hurt game planning. If your players dont respect you, or relate to you they wont follow your coaching. As an OC he isnt faced with that kind of pressure, the head coach is. He just doesn't have the personality or "aura" so to speak of a head coach. Hey it isn't broke don't fix it. He is top five OC's in the league, leave him there and let the man do what he does best.
You really hit the nail on the head. I keep trying to explain the difference between HC and OC to people here in Bmore but they won't haer of it. They keep saying "Billick" was supposed to be a Offensive Guru. They Blame EVERYTHING that went wrong with our offense on him. Sure he was held accountable as the head coach, but the GM had a lot to do with the offensive personnel we had, and his name NEVER comes up. I like Oz and sure he is a great GM, but people treat him like a god and to say anything negative about him is blasphemy here! When Billick was an OC his offense set the scoring record. As HC his team won a superbowl the second year he was here. We didn't even have a winning season before that. Im ranting. Sorry. But thanks for the input. HH
