here is the friggin scoop for me....

i played highschool and college football, damn good too, about 225 pounds, maybe 230 at my best shape, inside linebacker....i ate like ****....drank every weekend, but i ran at 5am everyday of the week because i had to, it was football....well i hurt my knee, left college, and now after 13 yrs of every season cutting weight and running every day and preparing my body to be in football shape.....i dont have football anymore....

basically...im a normal dude now. I need to find the motivation within, but **** i am a lazy douche. Wake up at 730, get myself and my son ready for our day, i work till 5-530...pick up my son, go home and enjoy watching tv and not doing a damn thing, i dont have a gym around because i live in belmont nc....seriously, closest gym is like....15 miles away, ridiculous. i have no weight bench, its at my parents....and after years of always being in shape and not being able to enjoy being a lazy ***.....i have taken full advantage of it for the last few yrs....gaining tons of weight, being completley fat useless and outve breath for the slightest effort of anything....

my legs still wanna work, i can fly if i wanted to....i gotta elementary school across the street, the feild is lit up all night, so i could go run there....but damnit i set my alarm clock, i get ready....and i sit there....or go back to sleep....i have no motivation....i hate the way i look, i used to be a brick man.....a insidelinebacking machine....now my wife (even tho she dont say it) probably cant stand to look at me....shes gained weight to, but she just had a baby....

my excuse? im lazy....big time....always have been, i probably woulda been D-1 starter material if i busted balls, but i lifted some, practiced 70% and played 110% in games....that got me a D2 scholarship....but not trying...

but i was in shape....i dont need a diet, i just need to eat less of what i eat, substitue water with the **** im drinking now, and run....i gotta run....

but where? where do i find the motivatio? where do i pull this **** lagging self up and punch it in the stomach and yell "get runnin fatass?!?!" when and how can i friggin do it? i couldnt enjoy being lazy as a kid....i always had practice or games...or training....so now im making up for it as a 21 yr old...

it sucks, i look at myself an KNOW i dont wanna look like this....i see pics from college and im like "damn if only i had a genie"

then i see commercials and people lost like 100 pounds, 150 pounds....well if i lost that much i would be ill.......and barely 120 pounds....so i say "**** i dont even have to lose as much as jelly doughnut guy on tv" yet....i still dont do anything....

fellas.....PLEASE....i dunno if anyone has an answer, but ****....what can i do? what can i say to myself to get moving? i dont have football anymore to push me....i just got myself, and my mind is a panzy....it likes laying on my recliner eating white cheddar popcorn and watching the office....

i need to wake up strap on my runnin shoes and just go, shower before hand maybe....but just go wherever it takes me.....and do it every day....every single day.....and i know it will be easier after the 1st week or so....

but its that first 3 days waking up and saying "shut up fatty.....get going" that i cant get a grip on.....

what can i do? i wanna get in shape!!! no gym, no weights....what can i do??????????

    thanks!!! :ffic:

Just when you want to get up get up. If you're telling yourself this much then it's obviously something you want. Even if you only run for a little bit each day it will reinforce the habit. Say, 20 minutes to start. Do that X amount of times a week. Or whatever you consider a light load.

Start from where you are not from where you want to be.

And remind yourself consistently that if you don't get your *** up and moving you will look like the jelly doughnut guy on the TV and you will have to lose that weight. I have the same issues .. if we lived closer I'd offer to go and run with ya or whatever

i don't know. I was thinking about it earlier with our PMs and what you told me. It's obvious you've got goals you want for yourself. I don't have those so I think the first thing I need to do is get goals. The only person who is going to achieve them is you. Likewise with failure.

The only thing others can do is encourage.

I'll give you your motivation. You're 21 and you have a young son. Make sure he has a father around to teach him as he grows that he can run and enjoy life with. Worst thing you can do for him, and I'm speaking from experience because I'm in the exact same boat, is not take care of yourself and end up with a heart attack at 35.

    Do it for your son.

do it for your son yes. I think most importantly though do it for you. Do it because you want to be better. Do it because you want to be around for your son.
My other piece of advice would be find something you want to do, be it boxing, basketball, whatever. Join a league maybe midnight basketball? Or a flag football league maybe those are always fun, softball etc. IMO just starting out with maybe practicing once a week and playing once a week will help to slowly get you back into working out. If none of those are options then shoot hoops on your own bro. I think the problem alot of people have with getting in shape is they do something they don't enjoy like just running or just lifting weights. So I would say find something you like, maybe start out small, and work your way up. You can probably do boxing training and don't necessarily need that much equipment. Maybe some heavy gloves, a jump rope for starters. I would do some research and try to find something you enjoy.
Just my 2 cents. And if you guys want I'll join your little fitness club, I could use one of you telling me to get my *** in the gym on tuesdays and thursdays haha.

Setting goals is huge. Make a small one that you can achieve in a relatively short amount of time and then keep adding new ones.

Lucky's advice is really good. I started Tae Kwon Do when I was already 30 and hadn't realized how much I really loved it. I would go at least three, sometimes four times a week. I would still be doing it were it not for economics and an arthritic ankle.

I think lucky had the best advice, do it for your kid. If you can't take care of yourself and ensure that you'll be in good health and around for him, you won't find that motivation anywhere else. Just tell yourself that you're doing it for him and find something that you like to do (basketball, lifting weights, jogging, riding a bike, etc).

Go out and buy yourself a small set of weights and do a little bit each day, and mix in some running before or after. :wink2:

Doing it for your kid is a great reason, but bottom line if you dont want to do it you wont. Its a COMPLETE change to your lifestyle. I have found that the C2C trip motivated me to lose weight, and now that that is no more, I have to find other routes to motivate me, and its been rough. I have been steady at the same weight for the last 5 months, but I have not given up. I have already decided I am going to wait until after the holidays to dedicate myself to a healthier eating plan again. I do however still workout, not as much as I should but I still go. I joined a basketball league, and while I was the fattest, shortest, slowest guy I did not give. You only fail if you quit trying. As long as you dont give up you will do fine.

I agree with Lucky and hero...do it for the kid. Or you also get a mental picture of everyone you cant stand calling you a fat***. It took one of my best friends calling me a fat*** in high school before I hit the gym. Havent stopped since because its habit forming to me.

Another suggestion I have would be that maybe yourself and wife find a gym to join together. A lot of gyms now offer childcare services as part of any annual enrollment. I know its a 15 mile schlep but if she's going shes going to want you to come with her and since you live in the same house (im assuming), you'll have no excuse.

Sickfinfan33..........How tall are you and how much do you weigh???

If your only 21 and this is your 1st year of not playing football you still must be in pretty good shape........true???

You sound more bored then out of shape to me.You seem like you miss the structure and discipline that comes with being part of a team.Did you find a leauge to join yet?
