If this has been asked already, please forgive me. It's hard to do a search, but I searched every paper I read, USA Today, Star-Telegram and even listened to the NFL Network, and not 1 person has given an explanation as to what would happen if both the Patriots and the Dolphins lost. and just wait, it just hit me, the only position left to grab is the AFC East, right?

If the above happens Jets are in,

    if Jets lose Miami's in.....

and if Jets win and Patriots win, the Patriots get in right....?

I just have not heard the exact explanation.

So we have to flat-out win......

    Correct.

If we win, we win the East no matter what happens in the Pats game. If the Jets win and Pats win, the Pats win the East, and if the Jets win and the Pats lose, the Jets win the East.

And if the Pats win, Jets win and Baltimore loses, the Jets play at the Pats in the WC game.
