There was a thread a guy created some weeks ago questioning the Favre trade and Chad's release. He used good arguments, explained well his points and was obviously correct.

The guy got torched, literally flamed. The thread got lots of pages, almost everybody went in defense of Favre and saying that the Jets were losing due poor defensive play.

Favre is old, period. His arm can't take a whole season anymore.

I would bet it was NYJUNC, he is also a refular poster here...

He seems OK and a die hard fan, but logical. He will debate you to no end, we had him over the other Finz forum years ago, and I remember him defending Chad...

Just like we would now defend him...

Let's not get ahead of our selves. The Fans and maybe Mangini might want us to win, but professionals will be out there playing for personal pride

    YES!!!!!

Next weeks game, to me, ranks up there with the 1990 Divisional Playoff game and the 1992 AFC Championship game.

Granted those were Playoff games, but hey this technically is too. This is also for the AFC EAST Crown against the Jets in NY.

Can't get anymore do or die than this. Since I dont see us getting to the Superbowl this season, THIS my friends is OUR SUPERBOWL (from a fans perspective).

Whatever happens this season after this game is gravy...

This is our Superbowl and a win would be incredible.

If the Fins jump out to a lead, I wouldn't be surprised to hear the home crowd turn on the Jets and root for Chad and the Fins.

Could make for an interesting homecoming for Chad. He'll have his supporters in the crowd. You know, for all the times the Jets fans turn Dolphins stadium into a pro-Jets field when the Jets come to town, it'd be nice to turn the tables on the JEts team and have their stadium cheering for Chad and the Phins.

What shocks me is how fairweather the NY fans seem to be. I endured a 1-15 season and never even imagined switching teams. They play for the division next week and are deserting ship.

    Amazing.

does anyone think, that if we get flexed to 415, and by the time our game comes we already know the NE game result (i.e. a NE win) will mangini be thinking to himself the entire game whether he wants sparano or his hated enemy belichick to make the playoffs? that would be tough for him i'm sure. and for the players too. i mean, i'm sure the players will want to win, and mangini would coach to win, but it'd be interesting to know what mangini really would think..

Anyone remember the particulars of the Favre trade?

I know the Jets gave up a fourth round pick that could escalate all the way to a first if certain conditions are met.

I would love to see the Jets lose next week, but still have to pony up a high pick (2nd) because Favre hit TD and passing yards thresholds.

Mangini might get fired if he loses (he may get fired regardless), so I think he needs to end the season on a good note to try to keep his job.

Now... if the Pats have already won... maybe the players who hate Mangini stop playing hard, hoping to lose to get him fired.

Tough to say do you want to face a team with their balls to the wall or a team that is under heavy pressure. Truth be told I'd rather face the team under heavy pressure so I agree that I'd like 1 P.M.

Personally I don't buy any of these theories as to why the Jets will or won't be on their A game because of the loss today.

Their only hope of making the playoffs is no different than it was before todays game. They need to beat us to have a chance period.

    Same scenario IMO.

Also, people mentioning that a prime time game may "crush" our young team under the pressure..... poppycock. It's a game to win the division with all the marbles riding on it. The time slot isn't going to add any more pressure than that.

    Found what we need....

    ProFootballTalk.com - PACKERS CAN GET A FIRST-ROUND PICK

So, the Jets are already sending a third rounder to the Packers... and it escalates only if they make the playoffs, which would mean beating us (which none of us wants to see happen).

So, basically if the Jets lose to us, the worst they'll have to give up is a 3rd round pick. Oh well, I was hoping it'd be more.

Anyways, let's just hope we win!

So there's a very good shot that we'll be playing a Jet team with the playoffs out of their reach, based on this late start.

Still debating whether that's good or not...

Many Jets fans were unhappy with how hey dumped Chad for Overrated Favre...I still cannot figure out how Favre is going to the Pro Bowl over Chad, but I think Chad will have the last laugh.

great special teams? all chad had to do was not mess up? what about all those 4th quarter drives to stay ahead or regain the lead? i don't try to assess the jets' season because i wouldn't be speaking with enough knowledge, but i like trying to read other people's assessments of our season

We still need to go up to NY and play a dam good game to beat the Jets, they will be ready to play.
