this is tough. i will go out of my way to support nintendo for everything except the wii.. i own a 360, yet i kinda hate microsoft. ps3 i dont really have an opinion on, as i've never owned any of their systems.. i think i'm going to abstain from this vote. (i won't even vote "none"! bwa ha ha i beat the system)
I voted nintendo, but its really more so "anything but sony." I play my 360 the most of my consoles, but the DS is the best handheld gaming system of all time IMO. So i gave the nod to nintendo.
lol fanboys. Each console has it faults, each console has its strengths I don't see why people choose to bash one or the other and claim their is the best it makes no sense.
cause it's the internet. Take away the bickering and theres not a whole lot of use for it other than porn and random news events.
I always try to be as neutral as possible but my company of choice is Sony because the PS3 is the only current generation system I own, Microsoft puts out terribly made consoles just for a profit without caring about the consumer, and Nintendo just doesn't appeal to me at all. Don't get me wrong I think the Wii and 360 are great systems but for the reasons I listed I prefer Sony and the PS3. I say if you have enough money get all 3 but I am poor so I must choose.
What, the Wii2 (WiiWii if you will) in 2013? Just because it will be in HD doesn't mean that 90% of its games won't be terribly shallow. Honestly, as far as I am concerned I would prefer the SNES over the Wii at this point (overall). Graphics can put a game over the top, but if the gameplay sucks (or is terribly simple) most people (who buy their own games) won't be interested.
Nintendo will probably be the first ones to make a new console next gen, so I don't think it'll take til 2013. My guess would be 2011 to be honest. BUT, their next console isn't going to be a totally new console IMO. I don't know how it's going to work, but i'd be willing to bet that they'll keep the same controller and all the peripherals they've shoved out at us this generation. as for the shallow games, that comes with the success of the console. The console sells well to kids, your gonna get kid games. But no matter where they go, Nintendo is always going to have Zelda and Mario, and I (and millions like me) will always want to play those franchises. A lot of people are the same way when it comes to Halo, or Final Fantasy. (In fact i was considering a ps3 for Final Fantasy for a long time. Then it broke it's exclusive bind to Sony. Though if 'Versus' is great...uhg)
Like Lair You a fanboy? Never. I've usually bought Nintendo and Sony systems, nothing against MS, I do enjoy playing Halo or Gears at a buddy's house, I just dont think you should pay for online play.
Microsoft. I love Nintendo back in the NES, SNES, gameboy days but the N64 had awful controls and the wii with its lack of power and HD graphics cooled me off on them big time. Sony I have just never been a fan of. Hate the controls on all the playstations, buttons are just too small.... Though they do get credit for the having duel left and right triggers, which was nice. Also the PS3 is just way too expensive. Microsoft came out with the original X Box which just screamed I am a bad*** FPS gaming console and when paired with Halo1 and 2 there was just no other console I wanted. No question the 360 has had a boatload of problems as far as reliability but they did extended the RROD warranty so at least you get a new console if your melts. Still they deserve a lot of flack for this. Much better price point then Sony though, and they have the exclusives that I want to play.
Spoiler Here is where my vote kicks in Too expensive? $400? If you have the 360 for two years, and subscribe to live you have already paid as much as a ps3, and the ps3 offers blu-ray capability making it much more economical.
Yeah, I bought a kick *** entertainment system. PS3 uh, 480p...HELLO Anyway, I go the way of Sony. They have always had great systems as well as games. So far Sony has treated me very well. They really take care of us lowly retail workers(ie free games). Plus they have been really good about warranty repairs(laptop).
The Wii got boring for me and really couldn't hold a party longer than 1-2 hours at most. Plus, most of the few non-shovelware games (Wii Music, Animal Crossing, really?) on the Wii are only good enough for a quick rental (from the guy I sold the Wii). Wasn't a fan of the Mario and Zelda rehashes anyways plus the motion controller is pretty much just a gimmick to me right now. Sums up what I think about Nintendo: On the other hand, I'm getting a lot of use out of my 360 (system link one on one duels using wi-fi, HD-DVD) and the PS3 (MGS4 and Blu-Ray). I was also very happy with the original X-Box and PS2. So naturally, I'm in Microsoft's and Sony's corner for this one.
I feel the same way. I don't keep the Wii on stand by any more. It just sits there. The honey moon wore off quickly especially after getting the PS3 and 360.
I tend to lean towards the xbox of late but I've thrown the controller at whatever console I've had at some point so I don't think it makes a difference!
im not a student of gaming enough to come up with serious gripes...being married with a kid, im always grateful to just be playing any of the systems in peace. i like all 3. would hjave to say 360 is the strongest "right Now".
That's like saying my car breaks down all the time but it makes up for it with extra horsepower. No thanks.
Microsoft just doesn't care about making quality products so much anymore. Vista has frozen on me at least five times today. At least this PC can't get RROD..... Next time I buy a computer it will be a Mac.
Nintendo. It's not even possible, but until another first party company comes up with franchises better than Zelda, Metroid, and Mario, I will ALWAYS be a supporter of the Big N. I play my DS more than I play my Wii and 360 combined...
Yea, so what. I'll take a multitude of 3rd party titles that are as good or better than those 3 franchises on the wii, that are available on the ps3 or 360. There is about 8 worthwhile games on the Wii (that aren't on the other systems) vs 20+ games that are available on either the 360 or ps3. Not to mention the ******ed friend code thing that nintendo makes you use.
Unfortunately, all Nintendo has are 1st party franchises. They've been notoriously bad in terms of third party support and games have suffered. Companies like Lucasarts (see Motionplus fiasco which got a lot of 3rd parties absolutely livid) are among the last to implement anything new because Nintendo is so closed-doors. Agreed. The only decent non-shovelware games are Nintendo produced and they're the same Mario, Zelda, and Metroid G-rated games. Third party games are just a non-factor for the Wii. And then you have the horrible EA All-Play franchises which have done the once thought to be impossible accomplishment of making an EA Sports game even worse.
I play my PS3 most, but like my 360 as well. I also have a Wii. I'm serious. That's my Wii. I don't hate it. But I just don't use it.
Tiger Woods 'all play' is the best version of this years game. And with that wii motion plus thing, Tiger Woods '10 may be the best golf game ever. (provided that little add on does what it promises) Third parties have definitely been lacking, no doubt there. But there is some hope for the future. Thats the joke now, isn't it. Nintendo says from their castle tower, "Let them have enhanced Definition!"
that's so funny to me because mine is in a similar predicament.. Not quite that bad, but mine's is not in playing position.
I voted Nintendo. I've been playing Nintendo systems since I was old enough to hold a controller. I also enjoy Sony, but I hate Microsoft gaming systems. Nintendon > Sony > Microsoft
Madden All-Play. It actually made me appreciate Madden NFL 07 on the next-gen consoles. All I gotta say about that. As for Tiger Woods All-Play, well, the debate about whether golf is a real sport (or a team sport for that matter) is a different story. Third parties will continue to lack if Nintendo doesn't let them into the fold and continues to keep them in the dark (ala Lucasarts). The motion controller and targeting of old women and kids is what's keeping the Wii from tanking like the Gamecube did because there are numerous similarities here.
it goes hand in hand tho. Why should nintendo keep third parties in the loop when third parties put their worst development teams on their wii projects? Like Krome studios (lucas arts) put their bext developers on the 360/ps3 versions of force unleashed, and their b-team on the wii. If 3rd parties are just going to create a flat-out inferior version of a game without any effort to make the wii version different, then why should Nintendo care about them? The Wii is a weak system, no doubt, but it's capable of more than most 3rd parties put on it. (like Capcom, for instance. Street Fighter 4 is a 2.5D fighter, and yet, for whatever reason, it's not coming to Wii. It could be done on the wii, and yet capcoms not bothering. But their plenty ok with porting resident evil 4 or zero in japan, or putting out 'spyborgs') I don't really know who to blame there. Nintendo doesn't care for third parties, but that's partly because third parties mainly don't support them.
