I not sure how many of you know that I am a medic in the Army; I am currently station in San Antonio at BAMC. So many times we get caught up over the war, is it right, is it wrong. There are deeper issues here that at times are forgotten.

We have a WTU (warriors in transition unit). These are service members from all branches that have come home from war wounded. They range from burns to amputees. These Soldiers for the most part can not go home or their families can not make it here to see them. Some have no families.

The hospital received several boxes containing little Christmas bags, inside was things like candy, pen and paper, crackers, and a letter. The letter is what drove me to share this with you.

    “Dear Service Member,
My name is Dylan and I am a fourth grader at St. Hilary’s school in Chicago, Illinois. I am sorry that you have to be in the hospital for the Holidays. My grandma and I put this little bag together to let you know we care and hope that you get better soon. Thanks for your service to our Country.

    Happy Holidays.”

It is incredible to see what seems like such a small gesture can do to full grown men and women. Sometime a little caring can go a long way.

Just wanted to share, Merry Christmas to you all, and my you and your family enjoy these holidays.

Thanks for sharing. Stories like these always put things into perspective, and often make the rest of us see how many things we take for granted.

By the way, thank you for your service:up:
