I thought this was a really interesting article. Jimmie Johnson praises Bill Parcells and the Dolphins for their quick turnaround.

However, towards the end of the article, he comes off a little bitter that his time in Miami wasn't viewed more positively.

Also, it talks about his inability to have as much passion for coaching the second time around after being in the booth. It's pretty good stuff.

    Here is the entire article:

Record-wise, the Dolphins are the most impressive turnaround because they won only one game last season and have already won nine games. Atlanta parallels what Miami has done so far. But in a lot of people's eyes, Atlanta was rock bottom after the Bobby Petrino-Michael Vick headache. So the public perception is that Atlanta has done a better job overall.

I think the whole key on a guy like Bill Cowher, who is the most mentioned coach to save a franchise these days, is to consider what happened to me. It was very difficult for me to have the same passion with the Dolphins that I had with the Cowboys. I had two years working on the FOX pregame show and I enjoyed my lifestyle. I loved my lifestyle, to be honest. I had already won a couple of Super Bowls. It was difficult for me to have the same passion my second time around.

Very interesting statement from Jimmy Johnson here in the paragraph. At least he is honest.

I have always been a Jimmy Johnson fan and still maintain that we were headed in the right direction under him. He was caught between placating Marino's ego and stroke and trying to rebuild both the offense and defense from the ground up.

Jimmy brought us Jaosn Taylor, Zach Thomas, Sam Madison and Patrck Surtain. Those four were the glue for our defense for many years.

Of course, Jimmy also brought us Wannstedt so perhaps, everything ended in a wash...

Jimmys single greatest failure was to set up Wanny as the man in charge of everything when he left.

If he had picked someone else who did pretty good, we would be talking about JJ as a guy who built a solid foundation for a perennial playoff team that likely won a super bowl at some point.

But no, had to go with Pornstache and kill it all.

They can talk about Atlanta's turnaround being bigger or better than the Dolphins all they want but I strongly disagree! I really think the utter circus that Miami went through with Wannstedt, Saban and Cameron along with the quarterback controversies and failures, and all of the other trials and tribulations trump Petrino and Michael Vick. It would take numerous chapters in a book to describe all of the problems and situations the Dolphins went through and only two (2) chapters in the Atlanta book for Petrino and Vick. But this is just my opinion.

Very interesting? To me this is very disturbing. To come home to Miami and lack passion for the game speaks volumes about the guy, especially when he USED his position in the booth to help get Shula run out of town. I don't know if you guys recall, but the year Shula left he kept saying how good Miami was on national TV, and when they failed set himself up to come on down and be the savior. He treated Marino like a POS.. Now if he had balls he would have traded Marino if he really didn't like him or his attitude and rebuilt the team.. Instead we had our legendary QB grounded by a coach that didn't have passion to coach the greatest franchise in NFL history.. This to me isn't interesting. It's pathetic.

You know... as much as I love football, I'd have a very hard time lacking 'passion', regardless if I were in my first, second, or tenth head coaching job. It wouldn't matter to me. My passion for the game is player-to-player, game-to-game, and play-to-play.

I like Jimmy Johnson. I wish he would have stayed longer. However, he can make all the excuses he wants... the real reason for his lack of 'passion', in my humble opinion, was the fact that Miami belonged to the QB he inherited, he couldn't do anything about it, and his ego was too big for him to swallow his pride and accept it.

Once again Captain Hairdoo has to try and bring the topic back to how great he is. I wish he'd shut the hell up when it comes to the Dolphins. If he wanted a voice about the team and what he did here, then he should have stuck around when the going got tough after the worst playoff loss in our organizations history instead of running away like a coward. Go do some White Rain and Just for Men commercials you vein douchbag.:pity:
