The Roster wars are continuing and this time we lose a draft pick .

Preliminary information is that Jalen Parmele was picked up by the Ravens .

BTW Although I am generally very pleased with our last draft I always questioned the two RB draft picks.

We could have added some players at other more needed positions

Ah well I expect we will be adding another player soon

Wow, I thought the Broncos would have picked him, their leading rusher is down to Jay Cutler, Addias (sp) pulled his hammy off the bone..they have went through 7 rb's this season.

    Hmm...here comes another 6'4 Wr...

He was picked up, or is expected to be picked up?

Both Willis McGahee and Ray Rice were nicked up for Baltimore.

Wouldnt it be ironic if we play the Ravens in the playoffs with Parmalee playing in their backfield

I think y'all are overreacting. If the dude was any good he wouldn't be on the practice squad...or we woulda make up some injury and put him on the IR.

The new regime mad a bad pick. They are not perfect. It happens.

Totally disagree with your opinion. We have three running backs in front of him already. He has got talent, and would of made our roster if we weren't so deep already. He will do good in the NFL.

At the beginning of the year no one was sure how Ronnie would return from surgery.

Hardly a bad pick here, Gardenhead. Three other guys, two who had major questions and one that didn't produce up until this year, stepped up. If we had hindsight, I guarantee you that at least one of the two wouldn't have been selected. Cobbs, Williams and Brown's success have come as a surprise.

Parmele has talent. He as productive at the collegiate level and we saw a glimpse of what he could do in the pre-season. Another team, the Ravens in this case, picked him up as they thought he could do something for them. In the past, teams wouldn't take our players. We weren't very good and drafted poorly. This year, we make a good selection in my opinion and now teams take our guys.

Yep, the only thing that was negative about him was he had poor receiving skills out of the backfield, but he was fine otherwise.

And the way he secured the ball. He didn't fumble in college but he didn't do a great job of holding it properly imo.

I really like this a lot.

Not because we lose Parmele who appeared to be worthy of sticking around and having a deeper look at, but when was the last time another NFL team raided our PS?

It's a good feeling to think that NFL GMs think that our depth is better, at any position, than theirs.

I don't like that he is gone, but Cobbs performances make it a bit more tolerable.

I, for the record, really did like the pick on draft day. Not so much the guy from Montana though.

I agree, it is a sign that quality and depth of our roster has improved. This had been going on for a little while. OT Barton is now a
Bengal. Toribio is with the packers or at least their PS. Ninkovich is with the Saints.

That's alright, I like what I've seen from Lou Polite so far. The coaches must be fairly confident with him and his physical style since he's been getting the ball on those 3rd and short and 4th and short plays. Honestly RB depth is the least of my worries with our roster.

Considering that if we do make the playoffs, the most common scenarios have us facing the Ravens, this really isn't very good news....

Good arguments in support of Parmlee, but y'all said the same thing about Lorenzo Booker, who is not exactly lighting things up in Philly. Here's a link to his 2008 stats:

    Player Bio - Philadelphia Eagles

I understand Booker and Parmlee aren't the same guy, but I'm not getting bummed out that Parmlee is gone. I honestly think if the FO wanted to keep the guy, they woulda invented some cockamamee injury and put him on the IR.

Now that Tuna is in charge and Ireland is making personnel decisions I guess teams will be watching our PS and other personnel moves. In the past nobody gave our PS and personnel moves a second look, not that they even gave it a first look.

As for the draft, I guess we picked a couple of backs because we obviously like to use all of our backs a lot during a game and if one gets dinged, it changes the plan that the staff likes to use. IMO. I don't like this news. I thought he had some good potential. I think Rex Hilliard is on another team as well. =( (Rex or Lex, I forget =D)

Hilliard is still on our practice squad. He didnt show much in training camp but he may be the one that Parcells wanted to keep .Good blocker .

Pamele ran well but he didnt block well .has stone hands ,fumbled and couldnt play STs .The Fins could have prevented the poaching if they wanted too

That's good to hear that Hilliard is still on the practice squad. I don't remember where I heard he was on another team. I actually liked Hilliard in pre-season just as much. Once Parmele broke that long one in that pre-season game, everyone got a little excited about him, but overall, I thought Hilliard looked solid and even a bit more powerful. If he's a better blocker, then all the better.
