This one is bueno. You'll enjoy it. http://www.thephins.com/index.php?o...man-circle-this&catid=19:phunwin-on-the-phins
I heard Berman pick the Bills earlier this week too, doing his whole "circle the wagons" BS. I imagine him, crying somewhere .....
I hate Berman so much it hurts. He loves the Bills and jets and is not shy about it. I watched "the Blitz" and they included 3 or 4 highlights of Lossman throwing the ball nowhere near the receiver. They showed two separate angles of Will Allen's INT, and both Berman and Jackson said it was not a pick as if that play determined the outcome. They showed ZERO Davone Bess highlights. I understand that our offense is not flashy, but show me some Dolphin highlights. I'm not looking for respect from the national media, but when Miami wins, show me some highlights. [mod] lets stay family friendly please[/mod]
That's a tough post to follow. Nice work Phil, enjoyed it a bunch. This had me laughing out loud; Still laughing, thanks again.
I don't care who Berman cheers for. He is one of the only people in sports broadcasting that I respect. He has a love for the game. And even though he favors the Bills and Jets, he still gives props to every deserving team. He is never afraid to be the guy that believes in a struggling team. He cares about the sport and it shows. I put him on the same list as John Madden when talking about guys who are more than talking heads. Berman is just like us, a fan. You can't knock him for that. That said, circle this!!!
I agree that he genuinely loves the game. But even an objective observer (I obviously am not one of those) can agree that his schtick is getting tired and old.
I like this article because it hits home for me. Also living in rochester i cant stand hearing from bills fans at school after every win they get. It's so nice for them to shut up for once after we sweep them. Anyways, nicely written article man.
I think the only thing Chris Berman is circling is the buffet line. It looks like he is off the NutriSystem plan.
He's a JETS fan too? I thought he was all about the BILLS and 49'ers. Hopefully we can make him feel like **** next week too.
Yes. I'm pretty sure the jets were his team growing up as a kid. I know he was once a season-ticket holder. That's a good point: We can beat all of Chirs Berman's favorite teams on our way to the AFC East crown!
Nice job as always Phil... On Allens INT, I believe his elbow hit the ground and as he twisted the ball wiggle loose, but he was downed already...
Great article! All I kept reading was about how Toronto had just about as many Phin as Bill fans at the game, and any undecideds quickly came over to the light. Frankly, that surprised me. I went to college at Bonaventure University, just south of buffalo, and there was always a huge flood of border traffic for bills home games, wonder where they all went for the Toronto game. Thanks for the article! I think Tom Jackson is my favorite ESPN guy, hes been pretty high on us for awhile now. Though even Key has been giving us some big props lately. How nice is it to hear TV heads talking about us in a positive light, to be able to hope for a playoff spot, to watch every game knowing it matters. What a great rebound season!
Great write up. Had me laughing a couple times. I was irked by Berman's choice of Buffalo over Miami to finish in the cellar as well. It wouldn't have had I not known the exact reason he picked them to finish over us. It was simply to throw them a bone and I can't respect that from some guy being paid a small fortune to analyze football and commentate on it professionally.
I'm glad you got some satisfaction from yesterday. I know your pain ALL too well. Believe me, attending high school there from 90-94 was just torture every Monday morning during the football season. I know Berman cares, and I like that. And I like the fact that he is a fan. And I like the fact that he and Tom Jackson seem to genuinely like and respect each other. If he'd leave his team jersey at home where it belongs, I'd have no issues with him. I write for another website (drstats.com), where we cover fantasy football, and I go out of my way to avoid any pro-Phins bias in my work, even though I doubt anyone gives a damn (and what's more, anyone with an extra 15 seconds on their hands could figure out who my favorite team is). I believe that integrity demands that, and I get beer money for writing there (well, a little more than beer money, I guess). You don't see Tom Jackson verbally fellating the Broncos on that show, do you? And he's only the greatest defensive player in team history.
