It's a new year guys, 1-15 is behind us and whatever your thoughts were on Cam Cameron lets forget them now because he is gone. It's been annoying to say the least having everybody at each other's throats around here lately, but I completely understand given the stress we were all under as we love our team so much. It is the same for fans as it is for players and coaches, we all feel a loss for a couple days after the game, and last season was almost unbearable. Time to look ahead though. We have the number 1 overall pick in the draft which means we can have any player whatsoever. None of this "well he would have been ideal, but he went much earlier". There are plenty of legitimate players to be taken at number one that can help imrpove this team substantially including Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey and possibly Darren McFadden or Matt Ryan. We saw flashes of John Beck's potential against Cincinatti and whatever your thoughts on the Ginn selection, he is here now for better or worse and to me looked like a potential superstar at times. We got a pretty good return from our draft picks this season with no cleary evident 'busts' and even Jason Allen started to look like fulfilling his potential. Will Allen had a great season across from him, and we also had other young players step up on defense like Rod Wright and surprisingly Quentin Moses. The future could be very bright for young players like them. Whether or not you like the way the big Tuna has been handling himself and his business around here so far, he is one of the most respected men to ever be involved in professional football. We are a bad team, but we have some talent, plenty of cap room and Parcells himself may be enough to pull in some tasty free agents. He has also drafted some very good players down the line and we can only hope he does the same this year. What is more exciting than having the first pick in the draft, and two second rounders for the second year running? Oh yeah, playoff football for Miami, something I feel we may be closer to than many think. So come on ladies and gentlemen of Finheaven, let us stop all the negativity and bad blood present on these boards and remember what we all have in common: a deep rooted love for this team. Here's to 2008.
I'm looking forward to it. I have to admit, this time it feels different. You know what I mean? I just didn't feel this way when Saban was hired and surely not when Cam was hired. Now it seems like this team has some stability because of who is in control. I totally trust Pacells and Ireland and their decisions. Its turnaround time for the Fins----Finally!
Wait and See Attitude... I want to see who the HC, OC, and DC are before I really begin anticipating anything much. Even more, I want to see if Parcells lets them coach, and lets Ireland be the GM. If he manages the managers, and lets them manage the team, very well. If Parcells micromanages everything, hold on. The ride will get bumpy very fast.
Sometimes I feel it hurts the fans more than the players mainly because they are getting paid to be there and we spend money to be there. Just a thought. I have also been a fin fan for my entire life, and no player has been with the team that long other than the retirees.
Just a question, do you feel the Dolphins, as a property, are more valuable now, after going 1-15 but acquiring the Tuna and company, than the value before the 1-15 season? Do you think the overhaul has anything to do with Wayne wanting the Dolphins to be valued at that 1 billion dollar figure?
The slate is clean and its a renewal, but I'll hope the excitement until a new coaching staff is hired.
strange, i thought we were all getting along more then usual round here. I don't know what pople are upset about, we only just got thee most important football mind from this generation, a leader with toughness, no nonsense approach. Exactly what this team playing in this town needed, i'am grateful.
