Cool article, and that kid is lucky to be alive. If you created a list of the worst possible scenarios you could find yourself in Africa, you'd probably put getting involved with a Hippo and his water at the very top. The Males are extremely territorial and the Females even more dangerous when they're with baby Hippos.

It gives me a bit of a shudder when I think back to when I was in a boat in Ethiopia and we went to see hippos. One of the males spurted water at us. They look really funny and you wouldn't consider them dangerous. Looks can be deceiving.

    Kudos to the doctors.

    yeah. hippo's are scary mo-fo's.

and i believe this has already been done. Dr. Gregory House guided a non-medically trained person through a surgery on his colleague in the south pole so.. what this guy did is really nothing special

Hippos kill more people each year in Africa than crocs, poisonous snakes or lions.

Combined I think actually. They are by far the most dangerous creature to run into. Incredibly powerful, with a massive jaw and huge tusks, they are territorial and aggressive in the extreme.

Also love the avvy, greatest Xmas movie ever!
