  1. Most likely Plaxico will be in an orange jumpsuit making license plates, so I'll go for Ocho.

He's 34 years old and he still has decent production. We're not going to come in and ask him to put up 1100 yards and 10 touchdowns for us. I think him being here compares favorably to Isaac Bruce's situation in San Francisco and Bruce is 36.

Simply because the Cardinals did not live up to a specific promise they made to Boldin. Once the season start, he put the team ahead of himself and his contract situation.

on top of that hes having an excellent year, i like this move as well because it allows our Trio to stay in tact and learn as they go from someone who has done it the right way for a long time..We need a tutor and a player willing to accept this role. Thats if we go that type of route.

I think to put aside so easily that parcells wont even think about it is a mistake, Every player will be accessed, especially in chads case because of the flirty history that parcells and chad have shared in the past year.

600-700 yards maybe. But honestly, if we're to go deep in the playoffs we need a pre-2000's Toomer rather than what he is now. Contending teams need that kind of guy. NE has Moss, Indy has Wayne, Cowboys have TO, Steelers have Ward, Giants had Burress, etc. I still think Toomer stays with the Giants and retires in Blue. As for Bruce, I don't think the 49er's WR corps is what I have in mind in terms of an ideal WR situation.

Managed to throw Romo under the bus too.

Niether. Why would Bill Parcells bring in a wide reciver that has problems and that will bring problems to a young team or any team. That is one of the reasons he left the Cowboys.

Plus I would rather have a hard working guy that is going to put 110 precent out there every day.

I don't necessarily think that teams need a top-notch WR to be a contender. Look at the Patriots pre-Moss. In 2003, they had Deion Branch as their top target with 803 yards receiving. In 2004, they had David Givens with 874 and those two years, they won the Super Bowl. Get a solid group of guys to spread the wealth to and work to getting a top defense.

In the end, I think that Toomer stays with the Giants as well. One can dream though. :wink2:

Where did I say the 49ers WR corps? I was specifically discussing Isaac Bruce and what qualities he brings. I think Toomer can bring those same ones.

Still, if they were happy about their WR's, they wouldn't have gotten Moss and Welker. It may have worked those days but I think right now, maybe because of rule changes and what-not, having a top big target WR's is necessary. It's why the Patsies went out and got those two because they knew their lack of top passing options was keeping them down. End result was a 16-0 regular season and could've been completely perfect if not for a Tyree catch and the OL having a brain-fart.

Well, Bruce is the sole redeeming target in that bunch. Naturally, he really should be like a #2 or 3 veteran guy which would be great if we had a dynamic and dependable #1. And I can tell he's still lost a bit. Honestly, I just hope we do something more than add one middle-talent WR per year in that position in the years to come. Toomer may be an ok stopgap/players-coach but I really would like more.

That's true. I was pointing out how you don't need a top notch talent at the WR spot to win the Super Bowl. They are necessary, no doubt, however a team can be a contender with a solid group.

And for the record, they lost with Moss and Welker but won with Givens and Branch. ;)

I understand what your saying. I concur that Bruce should be a second or third option. I still think he can play though, despite the age and I feel the same way about Toomer. I would like to add a big target via FA and/or draft.

lol, true but they also lost in the divisional and championship rounds the following years when they had those WR's so you could say Moss upgraded em one or two rounds. That'd be good enough for me at this point.

Same here. Wilford's a lost cause but I hope the lesson learned here is that the big target also has to have ok hands and speed quicker than some offensive linemen. Not too many reliable ones out there that are 6'3 and up. Roy Williams would've been my FA target. Colston's an RFA. I think Owens is also one but yea, you already know about that. :wink2: I could include Boldin because frankly though he doesn't have the size, he has the girth.

Not,from what there saying he has a pretty good background regarding the law most likley he will see some probation.

  11. Hmmmm... I don't see probation in his future. If he's convicted, by statute it is a mandatory minimum 3.5 year sentence, according to the current media reports. He'll either pull an O.J. or he's going to jail.

Ramses Barden is a guy that I really plan on looking at. If he can run a 4.5, I want him here. I'd love Boldin here, I'd wet myself if he became a Dolphin. JaRon Harris is another guy if he's 6'3", 200 and runs the expected 4.4-4.5.

If I didn't have a particular jersey curse, I'd get Boldin's jersey in a heartbeat.

I like Barden as a long-term project and I've seen him play live in Cal Poly games. He looks decently quick out there for his size. Couldn't quite judge live but I'm guessing a 4.55-4.6. If he gets 4.5 and under no doubt his stock soars. If he doesn't, better pack on pounds and convert to TE. But the question is, can he produce against much tougher and maybe taller opponents and with much more complex routes.

I think people are putting way too much stock in the early year behavior of Chad, I still think he would be a good pick up. The end of the day he still produces and he is still a gamer. He's been hurt alot this yr plus the Bungels have just been god awful.

 Buy a custom one, maybe your curse will go away and bring Boldin. If it doesn't, then you just spent $80.

I doubt he's run all the routes on the tree, as you said. Looking at him, he's rail thin but he's in the 230 range. The weight is all stretched out along that 6'6" frame. I agree that if he doesn't run fast enough, he'll be a TE/H-back. Produce against taller opponents? How many DB's do you know that are 6'6"?

    lol, I think I'll save the $80.

Well, there are certainly a bigger % of talented 6'0 or 5'11+ CB's in the pros than in Barden's league. Still, I forget which team had some success putting a light-weight LB on him.

Lol, can't say I blame you.

Very true. I wasn't aware of a light-weight Linebacker having success against Barden. That makes me cringe because either he's not very physical (despite the size) or he's not very fast and those are two questions that I have about him right now. It would be intriguing to see a DB like Kam Chancellor match up with Barden. Chancellor is 6'4" and physical. He doesn't have the long speed, ala Ramses Barden.

I think it was against South Dakota St. LB/S Jimmy Rogers. Though I remember North Dakota state had 2 LB's double covering him.

Reggie Dorsainvil, a 6'3 CB for Iona, limited Barden to 2 catches for 48 yards and a TD (and I think the TD was scored on another DB). Close enough since he's a physical CB too but with sub-4.5 speed.

    Interesting.

That's 24 yards per catch, which is still extremely high but it is two receptions. Dorsainvil has an unofficial late 4.4 forty. That's quite the size and speed. He's 185 lbs and he's incredibly inconsistent from what I read. I wonder how he would adjust to playing Safety. Either way, thanks for the information. I see that he had an interception in that game as well.

For a pass intended for Barden too. The one reception for a TD (which was all 48 yards) was against the safety with Dorsainvil covering another WR making a curl route in the same side of the field. Dorsainvil had a very good breakup as well on the goal line vs Barden and got him on a no-gain reception.

Dorsainvil's is about as raw as it gets. Nothing more than a very long-term project for a team.

Moss never exactly had a good image. He was suspended for marijuana use and lost a scholarship at FSU. He has taken off plays and he's spoke his mind quite a few times in Minnesota and Oakland. He has basically tanked this season. His image still isn't a beauty despite his great play last year.

Yeah, thats fine. But even before the season started the guys was proving to be a Grade A Classless Selfish TURD. He absolutely put himself above the team.

On the other hand you havea guy like Anquan Boldin, who has been nothing short of spectacular, and watches Fitz get a HUGE contract in front of him, and realizes he probably wont be resigned by the Cards cause Fitz just broke the bank, and all he does is shut his mouth, practice his *** off, show up and play his *** off.. THen he has his face broken in 1/2 and doesnt miss as step.

    The post funk era
It really shouldn't matter to anyone if he's a good guy deep down, when on the surface he's a clown, that doesn't respect his team or coaches.

The one good thing you could say about him is he's not getting into trouble with the law every other day.

He said he was going to sit out the year,to try and get his team to trade him.......If he really didn't want to play there anymore he would of done that. But all he is about is Money. So he went back to the team.

I don't care how rich he is, he can't back up his words and once a person can't do that their really not worth anything.

If I had to choose between the two right at this moment I'd have to say Johnson. Because Plax is probably going to jail for at least 3 1/2 years and at 30 whatever years of age by the time he gets out he's gonna be as useful as a vampire in daylight. Johnson is at least in the league and not going to jail.

its a different type of deep down to me, ive seen things in his character that have made me respect who he is, now i certainly think hes acted like a moron but i also have a hunch about him that he's dying to care again.
