UCF running back Kevin Smith, who nearly broke the NCAA's all-time single-season rushing record this past season, told the Orlando Sentinel Sunday that he is leaving the school and will declare himself eligible for the NFL draft. That reverses his earlier statements that he would stay at the school for his senior season. "I had a change of heart," Smith told Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi. "I'm doing what's best for me and my family." http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...08jan07,0,3749664.story?coll=orl_tab01_layout
wtf, i just moved into a UCF dorm yesterday, im only going to this school to watch kevin smith, now he's leaving, my life is over!!!
Devisating for UCF fans... but the kid deserved it. He is one of the best RBs in the nation. He was just going to get hurt with the pounding we were giving him. The kid is going to be a stud in the NFL. I cant wait to watch him on Sundays...
yes, but not because of kevin smith. i was being sarcastic. but i was looking forward to watching him. sux for us knights now.
I am gonna love it! Im totally stoked!!! This campus is off the chain. I cant wait till football seson starts. Im gonna be the biggest knights fan on campus. But I'll still like Ohio State more.
OMG... if we were able to some how grab him in the 3rd, or dear I say 4th?!?!?!? I would go insane!!!!!!!!!! But I dont think Rice would push Smith down... b/c I think Smith > Rice However, guys like Stewart and Felix Jones are guys that could still declare that I think could knock Smith down IMO...
Dont get me wrong NJ... I LOVE Rice... I just LOVE Smith more... What aspects of Rice do you feel are superior to Kevin's? I actually think both are going to be in the same boat... in terms of needing a good performance at the combine... since neither have the elite speed others in this class will have...
Rice has awesome vision and surprising speed and is a tough inside runner. When you watch his games the vision is something to behold, you see him stop and slow down on a play and your like run you dummy, the next thing you see is a blocker come level the guy and he is off again. Very patient runner also. And his offensive line just flat out loves the guy, notice he took the o-line up when he got his MVP award. He has carried RU for three years, I wish he would come back because that offense with a healthy Teel and those WR would be real tough to stop. I would say its 50/50 right now he comes out, remember he says Brian Lenoard was his mentor, and he stayed an extra year to help the program.
See, Kevin is a very similar runner. Smith's vision is some of the best I've seen. He is incredible to watch, as you will rewind plays and watch them again in slow motion, and STILL not understand how in the hell he saw what he saw. Extremely patient and sets up his blocks very well. Honestly, had you just replaced "Rice" with "Smith" in that post... I wouldnt have even realized it. lol Only thing is that RU had a better passing game than UCF... which took a little more pressure off Rice than Kevin got...
