EDIT: I have updated with this weeks results and what needs to happen still. Everything in-division worked out perfectly this week. We were the only ones to get a W!! ok. i KNOW it's a stretch. but here's the thing, it seems if we hope to make the playoffs this year we have to win the division, because the teams ahead of us in the wildcard hunt probably aren't going to lose a lot (namely indy and baltimore). if for some reason say baltimore tanks and loses a bunch of games, we'd have to fight with the pats for that second spot, and we're currently tied up, which means we'll have to get a better division record, and since they are already 3-2, we need to go at LEAST 4-2. since we're currently 2-2, that means we have to beat both the jets and bills. and those are the 2 hardest games left on the schedule so, either way, we have to win out within the division. and we only play SF, KC, and St. Louis other than that. SO, that means we essentially have 2 must wins, and 3 should-wins. so we're looking at 5 wins and winning out, or else no playoffs. i'd like to point out, that while i will be disappointed if we don't make the playoffs (naturally, any dolfan would be) i really won't be disappointed with the season. we have accomplished way more than we could have hoped for already, and no matter what, we have a talented young team with huge hopes for the future. that being said, this is what needs to happen for us to take the division: Week 13 Broncos beat Jets Fins beat Rams Pitt Beat NE SF Beat Bills Jets 8-4 Pats 7-5 Fins 7-5 Bills 6-6 Week 14 Fins beat Bills Jets beat SF Pats beat Seattle Jets 9-4 Pats 8-5 Fins 8-5 Bills 6-7 Week 15 Bills beat Jets NE beats Oak Miami Beats SF Jets 9-5 Pats 9-5 Fins 9-5 Bills 7-7 Week 16 Miami beats KC Buffalo Beats Denver Arizona Beats NE Jets Beat Seattle Jets 10-5 Fins 10-5 Pats 9-6 Bills 8-7 Week 17 Miami Beats Jets NE beats Buffalo Fins 11-5 (4-2 in division) Jets 10-6 (3-3 in division) Pats 10-6 (4-2 in division) Bills 8-8 (1-5 in division)
week 17 im pretty sure that you mean miami beats jets not looking good but stranger things have happened
my bad, will fix that yep i agree would be very unlikely for this to happen, but hey, we can always hope for the best!
After what they did to the Titans, I honestly think the Jets are the best team in not only the AFC East, but the entire AFC. And depending on what happens with the Giants (the plaxico buress incident and if they lost Antonio Pierce) I'd say the Jets would be the best team in the NFl.
It is one scenario. I don't think any of the remaining teams are not beatable and the Steelers don't have a lock on #2. BZ
Boy how things have changed in one week. If Miami wins out they get the division. That's a pretty tall order though. Who knows....
"Who Knows" is right man. This has been the most interesting season for the AFCE. Log jam from top to bottom but it should start to separate a bit over the next few weeks.
Looks like Week 1 of the forecast has played just like how we wanted it, except of course both Indy and Baltimore won. I like our situation this week. We have the Bills in a dome on neutral grounds and, there's a really good chance that either NYJ or NE lose. The Patriots got roughed up by the Steelers and play in probably the toughest(most certainly the loudest) stadium to play in and the Jets are playing on the West Coast where they typically do not play well. Here's to hoping
That is like saying "If we win 16 games we go to the playoffs" Much easier written than done. Bills are going to fight hard and the Jets won't lay down. BZ
The Jets game should be the last thing the Dolphins are worried about right now. All three games before that are very losable. Division games are always dangerous and the 49ers and Chiefs have played well in some games.
lol exccept instead of 16.....its 4 games....and we just won 5 of 6....its not as difficult as a 16 game season
