I couldn't resist the cheesy play on words, but in any case, here's my follow up to last week's piece on Vernon Carey: http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/20894.html Statistically, Satele had a monster rookie campaign, but the question at hand is, will the Samoan center ever reach Dwight Stevenson levels?
If we get a great RT and Vernon Carey improves his play he may be HOF. Also our team has to start winning because that's how lineman get recognition.
Satele is a STUD... and will be the centerpiece of our OLine for years to come... However, lets not get TOO far ahead of ourselves... comparing him to HOFers. Lets start with a Pro Bowl...
Couldnt have put it better myself. Lets just wait a couple more years to see I think he IS the real-deal, and was advocating us getting him over Kalil in last years draft (Sure glad that fell into place as it did) That being said, Dwight was one of the best that ever snapped the ball....
HOF let's not get ahead of ourselves..., we put another clear cut stud across the line and the entire line might be something special... BP likes huge huge players...
Much to early to tell because Satele has only played 1 year, and should wait at least 2 to 3 more years to even start to make a any compaison.
It is possible someday that he may reach Dwight Stephenson levels. As for Dwight Stevenson, I don't know who that is.
Wow. Wayyyyy to early. Stephenson was the man. That's just setting the bar way to high for the kid. Let's just say that center is now one of the few positions on the team where we can feel confident and no need to address with a new starter.
To me Stephenson was not only our best Center ever, but the best Center in the history of the NFL....sadly his career ended a few years early, but he was one of the main reasons Marino was rarely ever sacked, along with Dan's quick release.
SS is a stud. Can he get to that level? Sure. Will he? WHO KNOWS. Time will tell, but at this point he is not and should not be compared to a HOFer.
For some reason, I get lazy when I post here. At least I got it right in the actual column. Incidentally, I too think that I'm crazy for even mentioning Satele's name in the same breath as that of Stephenson.
