So if Parcells trades down...are the Cowboys our trade partner?

The popular line of thought is that Parcells is going to shop the #1 pick...if so, who is our best trading partner?

The most logical choice would be the Cowboys, as they're the only team in the first round with two picks. This garners a litle more credence if the Cowboys get beat by the Patriots in the Super Bowl...I think the Boys might be willing to sell the farm to get a home run threat like McFadden in their backfield...with Jerry Jones basically calling the shots at this point, he might go a little nuts and do just that.

However, using the NFL value chart for picks....

    #1 overall = 3000 units of value

#22 and #31 overall (assuming Dallas makes and loses the Super Bowl) = 1400 units of value.

What would make it worth our while? The Cowboys' two #1 picks, #2, #4, and next year's #1? This basically works out to 1730 units of value plus the value of whatever their next year's #1 is worth. This would give us the advantage of having back-to-back picks at the end of the first/beginning of the second round, two of three picks at the end of the second/ beginning of the third, and make up for our lost Trent Green pick.

Plus, we would have two picks in the first round of the 2009 draft.

    Thoughts?

basically would be left with 3 first round picks then (our #32 pick). There is a big difference in talent though between #1 and #20... then again, we need a lot of help. I don't know if you can pass up Gholston, Long, or Dorsey though.

I don't know what kind of trades we will be making (players or picks) but I want at least 5 picks in the first 3 rounds...is that too much to ask?

well, if we do make that trade with Dallas...that will be 4 already. With Parcells and Ireland running the show, I have tons of confidence in their drafting abilities. So the more picks the merrier.

Using the NFL draft value chart...it actually isn't ENOUGH. If we got all of the Cowboys' picks in the first three rounds, it still isn't the equivalent of the #1 overall pick.

If we made that trade, we would have 5. #22, #31, #32, #58, and #64.

CB, CB, WR, DT, TE...trade down.

    or

Chris Long, CB, TE, WR...stay put

I like the draft and the options we have. If we stay put Miami should have a high percentage to land a stud DLINEMAN. If we trade down, we should still be able to get a solid corner and maybe even an OLINEMAN.:ffic:
