Midway through the fourth quarter, Crowder and Light were both ejected from the game for trading blows, an event that a Patriots source tells us stemmed from Crowder making disparaging comments about Light’s wife throughout the game.

We shall see if this fight does in deed have an affect on Channing getting a contract extension.

That comment caught stood out. I know that Bill Parcells isn't the guy running this team on the sidelines like in past years but we all know he has a big influence on which players come and go. Crowder, as the article mentions, is in a contract year and Parcells has made a clear statement about thugs and hoodlums in the past. While Crowder didn't do anything off-the-field, he did give a bad image on the field. Crowder better hope that the upper management has a short memory because I know that they don't have much patience with players. A contract was being discussed around the time Greg Camarillo got his new deal done if memory serves me right, we'll see if there's any news on a deal being worked on in the near future after his ejection on Sunday.

  3. I dont think this incident is really going to change their opinion of him. Its going to be more about attitude in the locker room and the practice field, combined with productivity on the field. If they like him they keep him if they dont he goes but I dont think this incident is going to influence their decision either way.

I think it does hurt his chances. I don't know by how much though.

Crowder's been talking about other guy's wife's for over 3 years know in the nfl , i don't see his getting kick out of the game having anything to do with him getting a new deal or not.

A Guy talking smack on a football field does not make them a thugs and hoodlum.Tony and Bill knew he was a " talker " on the field.

alen1 i don't think " upper management " could give two cents what CC says on the field.

Parcells loved L.T. and he was no angel. I don't buy that that would be a reason for Crowder not to be extended, if you said he over runs plays to much, than I would buy it.

I pretty much agree. Players trash talk all game, all the time. Usually it leads to the opposition taking an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when they finally break and retaliate. Normally it doesnt end in a fight that gets both ejected though... Crowder doesnt really have a track record of being a punk or anything, he was simply doing his job, playing hard, and trying to wear down the pats physically, and mentally. he won. Unfortunately because the incident exploded like it did because matt light is a schmuck... it was all for not. I dont see this affecting crowder and his chances with the team...

if it turns out he's not here enxt year... this will be the first thing the media will bring up, but... sorry, im not buying it now, and i wont be then either unless theres a direct quote from someone in the FO stating, yes, we decided to let channing go because matt light punched him in the head 3 times... oh... and channing allegedly said something about lights wife. or something along those lines

I' also would like to say............unless CC was physical threatening Matt life, he had no right to do what he did at all.

The cool thing with the NFL really doing nothing to Matt is, every players knows now that if they get in any kind of fight......... to just go ahead and try to take the other guy out, cuzz their is no taking the high road anymore in the NFL.

I really don't like to see fights other then boxing, but some fans are going to love all the fights that are now going to happen.

No i really could never get into Hockey, that with all the fights just is a big turn off.I think them guys should be put in jail for what they do on the ice.

I've been to over 20 or Hockey games cuzz i went with friends and all that, but i really don't think much of it as a sport, and it's hard to when a'lot of their hard core fans are just there waiting for a fight to happen.

I don't think Crowder did anything wrong. People talk **** all the time in football games, Matt Light was just a ***** about it.

I bet 99% of trash talkers in the NFL talk smack about someone's wife. If Light reacted that way, maybe Crowder hit a nerve. A McNugget of truth if you will..

    Live from the Internet.
    I dont think it did.
I guarantee that the fact that he got ejected will have to do anything with his contract extension. They might bring it up, yes....but they won't let him walk because of an ejection...in which he got his hair pulled, and tried to back off from and was laughing the entire time. Yeah freaking right...

Crowder deserves to play for this team for a while, and I want him too. He's a very aggressive and talented middle linebacker, and I love our linebacker core right now. I sure hope he'll get his extension to keep him around here for a few more years.

The difference is between LT and CC, people were acared of LT. I really don't think anybody is acared of CC. Maybe kickers.

Those aren't the hardcore ones. Trust me.

Im in agreement here with everyone thinking that CC has nothing to worry about. It is football and people trash talk ALL the time. If Light can't take it, he should go play Tennis. That is not enough to justify equal fines, and he sould have been suspended.

I hope we resign CC so we can focus on OLB and NT in this year's draft as those positions are much harder to address than ILB imo.

If you are going to punish players for trash talking then half the players or more in the NFL would be getting punished. Trash talking is one of the mental aspects of the game, in trying to get in the opposing players head to affect his game.
Its pretty obvious that what CC was trying to do worked its just unfortunate that he tried to not retaliate to Light and he was still punished equally.
