I was thinking about that yesterday. Except in my scenario of course the Jets come to Dolphin stadium as the wild card team .
Looks like we've both got a legitimate shot at the division right now. let us finish off the Patriots this week then we'll talk.
That would be nice to come down there, but since I would get Jets playoff tickets, I rather have it up here in the cold! BZ
Your fellow fans are having a hard time grasping that scenario, but I think its a distinct possibility.
I am not saying it is a lock, but an interesting ideas. The 2008 Dolphins remind me of the 2006 Jets. BZ
Not only is the rivalry pretty heated, but the storyline at QB would make a wildcard matchup even more interesting. Personally I still don't think that the Phins are as good as the record indicates, but the wildcard might be a possibility if everything falls into place. It's been a while since we've been able to say that.
other than going from bad to good and having chad pennington at qb i'm not sure what else i see in common. mostly it's because i don't see us regressing back to 4-12 next year but on topic, a phins jets matchup would be quite awesome, and surely a sight to see from two teams who combined for 5 wins last year
A few things: - A lot of trick plays on offense - Using "whatever we have" at RB - Benefiting from a easy schedule - The Chad - Catching the Pats off guard - Brand new HC changing the culture - Surprising the NFL by winning BZ
Please don't compare my beloved Dolphins to the stinking jets. EVER! Yes, we have Chad and an easy schedule, but that's it. Our RBs are studs, not scrubs. I eagerly await December 28. The game will be for the AFC East crown, and I like our chances.
What a joke, to pretend the Jets (and the rest of the division, for that matter) aren't benefiting from that same easy schedule. You do realize that only two games were determined from our W/L record from last year, right? And we lost both of those games. So the same teams we're beating are on everyone's schedules. And LOL @ referring to the Wildcat as a trick play. If misdirection plays are trick plays, then Indy has been benefiting from trick plays since Manning arrived, seeing as how he's the master of the play action pass.
I remember when the West Coast Offense came on the scene, now it's a part of the game. Who knows the Wildcat may be here to stay as well.
Ricky is a scrub, working with a half-stud. See above. Man... I compare your team that went from 4-12 to 10-6 and made the playoffs, and you would think I said you all eat stinking dog poop. Next time I will keep my compliments to myself. BZ
This would be a nightmare. I don't even want to play the Phins on the last day of the season let alone in the playoffs. They're due against us..
you know what we COULD see? this would be craziness but it could technically happen: Pitt goes 3-1 down the stretch, losing to Balt- and go 12-4, win the division through tiebreaks Baltimore wins out, goes 12-4 as well, secures the first wildcard spot Tenn goes 2-2, losing to Pitt and Indy, goes 13-3, wins division Indy wins out, goes 12-4, takes second wildcard spot Miami wins out, goes 11-5 and wins division through tiebreaks Jets go 3-1 losing to MIA, go 11-5 Pats Win out, go 11-5 and neither the jets nor pats with 11-5 records make the playoffs, while the lowly broncos go 0-4, and win the west at 7-9. now THAT, my friends, i would be mad about.
