Official Finheaven.com status thread

It hasn't been down the whole season but I know it feels like that. We are working on a hardware issue and will post an update as soon as we know something definite. It really does no good to post an update when there is nothing to share.

Whoever hacked the site, must have done a hell of a job.

 

Nope, it was pretty amateurish. The problem is that our lease was up with the Planet, we bought new servers and are working to get things moved over.

 

It is sincerely not my hope to knock the folks doing all this work, which is why I've tried to be mostly silent on this subject. I think I will break that silence to say that my one hope is that when this is done, it will have been done right so that anything like this in the future results in a much smaller amount of down time. Especially now that the season is done, I'm more concerned with it being done right than it being done soon.

 

Brothers Muck, and Celtkin are working hard on getting us back up. Besides the new servers being added, the site has to be hack proof, due to the hacker or hackers are still out there. Brother Muck is very involved with his company during the week, and Brother Celtkin is chasing his long time dream to obtain his PHD. When it is ready, and everything checks out okay we will be back up. They are also have 7 years of info to go through as well.

Keep the Faith! We will return bigger, and better then ever! We appreciate all the support!

 

See, I respectfully disagree Celty. I know it doesn't seem like much, but even posting that nothing new has happened is big for us finheaven faithful. The fact that yourself and Fin Fan In Cali posted about how busy you guys are, being hack proof and working out hardware issues was a good update for us. Well, at least for me.

I think everyone appreciates the lengths you guys have gone to help us dolphin computer nerds out. The staff has been excellent in that regard.

 

If you need help with the tech stuff just let me know, i'll donate some free time.
I specialize in software/hardware optimization.

We work on the site during the time we have such as weekends and evenings. During the week, we are both fully involved in our real lives.

Right now,we are having a hardware problem that can only be corrected by our new host. Muck was out of town this weekend for funeral and hasn't been able to follow up on it as of yet.

 

I use Brothers here as we are a family.

 

New Home?

Forgive me for asking this guy's, but is this going to be our new home, or are we going to get the old site back up. Doesn't matter which to me as Celtkin's effort almost mimics what we had before. Just like to know before I kick my shoes off and get comfortable here.

 

Actually...your right. Although I miss the fancy Dolphins graphics and such....this has filled in very nicely.

just a quick question...just curious, are you planning on bringing back that profile feature that was newly starting as the site crashed? that was awesome, i love putting faces with names!

it was kind of like myspace...but still on the finheaven servers...you could leave comments, post pictures, videos, etc. it was awesome!

 

Ahhh, I guess I have to get back into the loop. I tried requesting finheaven like 10 times on myspace last year but I never was accepted. Someone must not like me... jk

PhinChat was cool. It never should have been made VIP only. What about an entry fee of 10 bucks if it can't be free?

 

I thought they had a seperate chat room for non vip. Click on chat and check it out.

 

I respect the mods decision to go VIP only on chat, but its always dead in there, nobody goes in there any more, just my .02 worth.

 

It is a good point, but the chances are you will get too many nuisance posters. Perhaps they should make it for all, but have the option to reject posters who become obnoxious Even give them an electric shock too. Or maybe make them wear a Pats shirt to a home game. Perhaps just throw them to the alligators, Maximus probably would have.

We will bring back "The Nation" community and, while Phinchat is VIP, I set up a public chat for everyone else. You can find the link on the http://phinchat.com site (bottom link). Give the bottom link a moment to load.

Our goal is to go back and have all the features we had before and to roll out new features that we have not yet revealed. We are on much faster servers and a new security system that makes it a pain in the *** for even admins with the proper credentials to get into.

I know it is frustrating right now. I feel it too because I know how close we are to being back and, poor Matt is going crazy because the income stopped but the bills keep coming in.

 

Thanks bro. I have intentionally made this site unlike Finheaven because I want to emphasize that this is a back up forum and temporary. I own a number of Dolphins related domain names but choose one that had nothing to do with the Dolphins to host this site. I am devoted to Finheaven and nothing can take its place. This is just a very humble attempt to give the Finheaven family a place to meet and chat until we can work out the last few problems with the new servers.

I am more grateful than I can express for the loyalty that you folks have shown and for the fantastic job the staff is doing in the baren headquarters that they are now being asked to work from.

Agree with PSG above me, thanks for giving us an outlet to express our fanhood while the main site is undergoing, hmm, repairs. I am looking forward to the day finheaven is brought back online, thanks to all who are making it reality

Is Finheaven Coming Back!

I like it here but am just wondering. www.finheaven.com doesn't even work anymore and the powers that be sounded as if they would be up very soon in November. I haven't seen anything in weeks. Finheaven is the very best thing in the offseason.

 

It will be back up dont worry. Have full confidence in the admins because they are working hard and they will bring it back up for us, just be patient.

 

It'll be back better than ever. Soon.
