Looks like i'm late to this topic. It sounds like the most ridicules thing i've ever seen on the web. They should just shut down that site. That site has crossed the line and let things get too far. I feel sorry for the guy. Everyone on that site should really feel sorry for their own existence. It's so shockingly terrible.
I haven't seen that video but it would remind me of that movie "Untraceable" where a serial killer would sit his victim on a chair with a syringe full of acid ready to be injected into him. He would post it live on his site and the amount of acid that went into his victims blood stream depended on the amount of hits the killer would get on his site. Obviously the site got popular and the victim dies. So sickening but can very well be close to reality.
For reasons I prefer not to mention, this whole situation rings very close to me right now. I have been reading over his previous posts (those of which weren't deleted to preserve the quality of that scummy forum). Reading through them is like reading a few-year-long suicide note. He poured himself out to a brick wall. Not even that. He threw his thoughts upon an audience that was not only not willing to listen, but actively committed to turning his thoughts and emotions into fodder and ammunition for their own selfish satisfaction. He makes numerous mentions to his hypermania/manic depression. Though he was being treated, it is alarming to make aware the fact that thousands of teens and young adults suffer from these same symptoms and are not being treated. Bi-polar disorder is one of the most difficult things for people to come to terms with for the pure fact that their neurosis seems to sit in conflict to their very need for treatment. What is sad, disgusting even - is the rest of that forum. A clearly sick and demented bunch of heartless individuals running free in a mindless environment where their actions go without (short-term) consequences. They actually believe, and promote the fact, that this kid has problems and therefore was going to kill himself anyway. That's basically rote. They made that point often, freeing themselves from any guilt and liability they might have otherwise incurred. But that kind of attitude is what underlines the singular and larger problem - that in a world where we nurture the conceited notion that we are removed from the problems of the individual and from our society, where our words and actions have no real merit, we develop an attitude that is cold and in direct contrast to our very being. The internet has done this. It has created an industry of hate and indifference, and we live without any regard for exactly what this kind of effect this kind of soulless behaviour is having on us as a whole. We have forgotten the importance of love. (And I am not talking about this forum at all - this place is quite the opposite, but nonetheless, there is a lot more of this bodybuilding.com crap going on all over the place and makes up a much percentage bulk of the issue). Maybe it wasn't these exact individuals and their specific posts that ultimately forced him into this corner - perhaps the website was even a (short-term) therapy for him. But what should be understood is that the broader attitude to our existence, to our society, that is brought about by places like that website is what is leading to (or at least contributing to) our world going down a destructive, faithless path. I am sorry for writing such blather-skit. It is quite late here and I am very tired, but this affected me and I needed to let a little bit out as it concerns something that I have been going through in my life a bit lately (hence my basically disappearing from FH and here), but this isn't about me. Basically, to anyone who isn't indifferent, in hysterics, or asleep by now, I plead that we understand that what we do in our lives DOES have an impact on the greater whole, and that we should preach love and care for those around us, for every man, because whatever views we have on existence, on religion, on war and politics, science... - we are human beings, and we live in a world where it is impossible to turn away from ourselves, to turn away from our souls. So we must understand the beauty of our nature, which is everything we are, everything we know and feel. Everything around us. We have to nourish our existence and make sure we don't let our lives fall into the predicate hell that places like that forum suggest our world is leading, or has already gone.
