Well worth a 2nd rounder and Porter I'd say my man.

Adding Williams to the mesh only makes it worth the while. I really don't understand why the Lions are even thinking of entertaining offers for him, but hey.. Matt Millen knows what he's doing, right (/end sarcasm).

I'd trade 34 year old JT for 26 year old Williams alone in a heartbeat. I think most would trade JT for a first round pick right now and we'd be hard pressed to get someone better than RW late in the first round.

I'd trade down for Roy Williams though he is injury prone. Nice tall WR with quality speed. But I don't really want Rogers. Takes too many plays off and doesn't play with heart.

If Roy Williams is really available and they are willing to part ways with him for another player (JT) we have to make this move. He's without a doubt top 5 at his position and he's my favorite player in the league outside of Ronnie Brown. Played against him in highschool when he played at Odessa Permian and ive been a huge fan ever since. We need a gamer like this on offense, he will make everyone around him better.

Rogers still produces and raises hell in the backfield despite playing half hearted... stats prove it as previous poster posted.

no, no, no. ask any lions fan about shaun rogers. they would gladly get rid of him. he's useless and overweight and far beyond being out of shape. I was at the Lions/Chiefs game at the end of the year, just because im close to detroit, and the tickets were free... and there wasnt one good thing i heard from anyone in that stadium regarding shaun rogers. its obvious watching him too, he's in for 2 plays... off for 4 trying to catch his breath.

i dont think id be too excited about seeing him here... now roy williams on the other hand... id gladly have him in here.

I think JT would retire before he stepped on the field as a Detroit Lion. I think that there are only going to be a handfull of teams that he would want to play for.

You don't have to be in that great a shape to be a 3-4 nose tackle. Look at Keith Traylor, Sam Adams, or Ted Washington for all those years. When you're 6'4" and carrying between 340 and 360 lbs., all you need to be able to do is absorb the double-team in the middle of the line. In fact, I think Rogers might be a better fit for a 3-4 than the 4-3 he has played his whole career.

Hey, if he stuffs the run on one play and pressures the QB in the other, I'm all in favor of him taking third down off . Put Rod Wright or Paul Solai in on 3rd down and alternate "fresh legs". I'll take Rogers' productivity on those two downs over anything they've currently got on the roster at DT.

    That's what I meant. ;)

I can definitely see him putting up a big stink if we tried to trade him to any team not named Patriots, Chargers, Cowboys, etc. If we were to trade him to the Lions (which I don't think would happen anyway), he'd block it by refusing to play/report.

We take Gholston no doubt. I don't think there are any other DE/OLB prospects that could replace JT right away. 3-4 DEs are easier to find than good/great pass rushers.

For this trade Roy Williams and Rodgers, I'd send a 3rd and Taylor, heck I'd even give'em ZT.

I felt the same way until I thought about it closer. Roy Williams is a young , play making wide receiver. If we make this trade we'll have a solid #1 wide out for a years to come. Taylor only has a couple years left in him.

So you do what's best for the future, and Williams is what's best.

    ill take it!

Shaun Rogers gives us the run stuffing DT we need, and Roy Williams gives us another option at WR. yes we'd be getting rid of our best DE, but at least we get a much needed run stuffing DT in it....PLUS, it would almost assure everyone that we are not getting Dorsey, and are getting Long or Gholston instead.

I would do this deal in minute.I love Taylor, but he probably only has maybe 2 more good years in him. Roy Williams is still very young.

Whenever a deal seems too good to be true and fans ask "How soon can we make that deal", it's too good to be true. I don't see any way the Lions trade their young #1 WR for a quality aging defensive player with maybe 3 or 4 years left in his tank.

    Just my opinion of course.

Wow if we could have Roy Williams as our 1 and Ginn as our 2, plus Rogers as our DT. I doubt we would do this. Trade JT and one of our 2nd rounders and this is possible.

Why would the Lions trade possibly their two best overall players for one good but approaching the end of his career player? I can possibly see Roy for Taylor, but certainly not Rogers as well. The mans a slug but hes got talent, and detroit wont give it up cheap.
And frankly, Im not willing to part with picks to bring HIM here, I dont trust he can keep his production up, in fact hasnt it been declining now for the last few years?

You never know Taylor might retire instead of going to another team that is not gonna sniff the playoffs.

If it does happen...Look for Williams being traded for Taylor and 3 round pick.

Roy Williams is a true #1 WR, and he & Ginn together would be deadly.

Roy Williams/Shaun Rogers for JT is out of the question, IMO. I'd go for Roy & a mid-rounder though.

In all honesty i think there is other ways to get a good reciever without trading away the pride of our organization. Yes JT only has 2 years left but he should still be very productive in those two years. Its hard to pass up on young talent like williams but i just dont want to make that move.

you have to give them big piece ... u cant give a team a bunch of average joe schmos and expect to pry away their top offensive player, even if it is millen making the calls. ...... wait maybe if we give them a reciever he will be satisfied. THROW IN BOOKER!!!!!!!

Whenever Matt Millen and the Lions offer up talent, you have to take it, and get these guys pinned to the negotiating table where history has shown, top talent can be stolen.

I disagree, Jesus Christ could help. He'd miraculously turn sour lemon juice into fine wine, and pour 50 yard bombs downfield, where they'd fly like the return of homing pidgons, perfectly into his outstretched hands.
Opposing corners would collide into safeties, and safeties into linebackers like keystone cops. We'd never have to pass against the wind, while rain would inundate those trying to throw against us.
On the road, Jets fans would be hushed, when swarmed with locusts, and upon Gillette Stadium, it would rain fire.
Yeah, he could help, but I think Lucifer's the only one willing to talk trade.

This is to funny this trade, no way will taylor allow himself to be trade to the Lions. He wants to go out a winner, and the Lions are clearly not winners. LOL...

I believe there is article in the Herald where Taylor expressed his interest in playing the "Jack" LB position moreso then the true DE.

Rather limits where he'd accept a trade too.

Roy Williams is in the last year of his rookie contract, he's reportedly unhappy in Detroit and they are set at WR with Calvin Johnson, Furrey and McDonald. Also, Rod's got to win soon or risk getting on the hot seat and JT could really help improve Detroit's D next year.

I don't think a JT for RW trade is likely, but I think the trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. The question I have is, would JT want to play in Detroit and would RW sign a long term deal with Miami (he's reportedly unhappy because he wants to play for a Texas team). I don't think any non-Texas team is going to want to trade for RW unless he signs a long term deal and I don't think Detroit wants to trade for JT unless he ensures them that he'd be fine with playing there. In the end, I think those might be the deal killers.

There are many many players with no trade clauses in MLB, or partial no trade clauses...There are also a ton of players in the NBA and the NHL...it seems the NFL, hasnt caught on to this phenomenon yet.

I'd take it too, as much as I hate to see JT go. Roy Williams is a stud WR in the prime of his career and Rogers would really help our run defense.
