i got thje message too. definitely said its happening on the 19th. i dont have netflix, so i dont really give two ****s. i like the dashboard the way it is now. leave it to microsoft to force an upgrade.....
Just downloaded it - gonna take a while to get used to. If you thought you were bombarded with ads before - lol - wait till you see it now. Think I saw an ad for Rogaine and Cialis on there!! But it it Micro$oft after all.
I'm officially banned. Tried to login today for the 1st time since the bannings started. I'll fix it this week
and FYI guys... YOU CAN USE THE OLD DB!!! I don't know how as I can't get NXE right now. But they announced that you'll be able to go back.
Yeah with all this money they're getting from advertising - you'd think they's make the service free or a lot, lot cheaper. A lot of what I saw was about TV shows and extra media content I don't care about. I log into XBL to play games and nothing else. I'm not sure what audience M$ is targetting or where they are going with this.
I think its supposed to make load times faster, and it means lazy asses dont have to walk 2 feet press a button and swap discs.
I guess that explains why I havnt heard from you. I sent you about 4 messages on live asking how to go about downloading games so I could burn them and play for free. I was starting to feel a little hurt at the lack of response.
it looks mighty streamlined and cool from the vids i saw. I haven't used it yet. It's supposed to be much faster (especially when loading games on the HD) than the blades.
Faster load times and to save your disc drive from spinning so damn much. Ultimately, it doesn't matter whether or not you like NXE, since we're all going to be forced to update the firmware to connect to Xbox Live. But luckily, NXE is an all-around upgrade from the old 360 OS—which really wasn't so bad in its own right. Gizmodo Apparently, there's no way around it. Even if you're not connected to the internet, I've read you will be forced to update to NXE before you can play certain high profile games in the future.
unless they retracted their statement, they announced months ago that they'll allow you to use the old dash.
Well, that Gizmodo article was from October 29th and it's a "review" article of the final build of NXE. I guess if people make enough of a stink about it, Microsoft might include an option in the future to make NXE optional. But as of right now from everything I've read, it's mandatory. One thing I find amusing was that Sony's Home was announced before Microsoft's NXE and yet here we are, NXE launches today and Home is still being worked on. Good job Sony.
I'm going to play around with this more when I get home. The interface does look kinda cool and it is a complete new look - just going to take some getting used to. There are some cool features that I did like - for example the way it lists the games you've played plus all of your achievements the same way iTunes does coverflow. The avatar thing is kinda neat - but again just a novelty thing rather than an actual feature, imo.
Indeed. Sony and Microsoft have gotten quite good at it, actually. That being said, I look forward to messing around with NXE when I purchase my 4th Xbox 360 later this month.
i do too. question: whats the deal with this downloading the game talk? I popped in madden for a little while today and it didn't say anything about DLing the game to my HD. Is this just an option thats available or what?
Yup - my thoughts exactly. Its beginning to grow on me. The party system is cool - for example - my girlfriend an I were in a party play the campaign in gears 2 - a couple mutual friends signed on and joined it and the 5 of us were chatting as we were playing our respective games. That was kinda neat. I'm liking it too so far.
It took me forever to make my avatar but I think it. The one problem I do have is the friends list....... Is there anyway to get a simple list back or do I have to scroll through the avatar things?
Well, hopefully the repair shop is still open in a couple weeks or so. When did you move to Coral Springs? I work that way.
