Per Rotoworld: Jazz guard Deron Williams left Saturday's exhibition game against the Bulls with a sprained right ankle after coming down on the foot of rookie Derrick Rose on a 3-point shot attempt. Williams was carried off the court by two teammates as he grimaced in pain and was then taken to the locker room in a wheelchair. The Deseret News is reporting that he suffered an inversion sprain and that X-rays were negative. That's great news, but there's no timetable yet set for his return. Brevin Knight and Ronnie Price become relevant if the injury is serious. Source: Deseret News Related: Brevin Knight, Ronnie Price Marcus Camby's heel injury is expected to keep him out of this weekend's preseason games. Camby has yet to show his face in a Clippers' uniform, but his injury is not expected to keep him out during the regular season. However, the fact he hasn't had a chance to gel with his teammates is a growing conern. Source: San Bernardino Sun Also, if anyone else is interested, I have set up a draft for fantasy hoops tomorrow night. Still need at least 1 more to have a league...Alen, myself and Felix KNOW youre itching to join. Anyone else is welcome as well. All the necessary info is here: http://forums.thephins.com/fantasy-basketball/17196-phins-fantasy-basketball.html
LMAO Boik, loved the last part of the post. I talked to Felix about it and he asked me to join but I'm already in four or five FF leagues and have a hard time keeping up with them. I don't want to sometimes forget to change up my lineup and upset you guys so I passed. Thank you for inviting me though, appreciate it.
Ha and here i thought you had just never seen the thread. Must have forgotten, you have been in literally every thread ever created on this board
I tried to remember who was a fan of what team so I posted a direct link to the scouting report for the upcoming season above. If I forgot one, sorry, just go to the SI link in bold.
Man, can someone pack up Curry's bags already? I know the storage closet full of ring dings and the mini fridge full of pork chops probably weighs more then Curry himself but just get him out of New York please. I dont care if we ship him to Guadalahara for a couple of pesos. Some players just irritate you like that because they come to camp out of shape and not ready to play and then blame the coach for blasting them when theyre asked about said player. Its called accountability. If he would have gone to college he might have been able to comprehend it. Regarding lee its a shame we'll probably have to toss him in with either Curry, Randolph or Marbury for what will hopefully be some expiring contracts and draft picks. While hes one of my favorite players, like the article says, he really doenst have a position but you need players like him to win long term....though it might be a very long term before this group wins anything. Hope he goes to a team like the spurs, mavs or suns that could really use his athleticism and hustle.
Couldn't agree more with the Lakers preview. But I am a bit apprehensive about Kobe's health. He's played nonstop including Finals, Team USA, and preseason. His knee is giving out and he still hasn't gotten his ligament surgery. Lamar really looks good as a 6th man because the 2nd unit doesn't really play the triangle and more of an up-tempo game that better suits him. Plus, it gives us flexibility to start Ariza against top SF's or Vlad when the opposition's SF is not that good and/or we need offense. Farmar has really showcased his playmaking ability on both ends and when he's matched up against a shorter, speedier guy (like me at the Sunset courts), he really bullies them. That's something we haven't had in a long time. Mihm's getting time at PF and C so he may bring midrange shots and shot-blocking off the bench to complement Josh Powell's hustle and rebounding. They're going to look for a veteran no doubts throughout the season or after teams make their final cuts. This is a young team that just got a dose of the playoffs and is only going to get better. As for Kobe. He's very happy with Gasol and Bynum and I'm pretty sure he'll stay when they stay.
You really think so huh? Just remember eddy curry is the only player to have a fantasy statline named after him. The Eddy Curry line: More points then steals, rebounds, assists, 3's, blocks combined. Many players suffer from being one dimensional but at least other players try not to make it so obvious. Just remember all Eddy curry needs to do to become a better rebounder (according to Scott Skiles): Jump. He still hasnt learned.
Damn, 4 years too late! According to WFAN radio, police are calling it an accidental overdose rather then a suicide attempt.
Per Rotoworld: Reached at home by the New York Post, Isiah Thomas said it was his 17-year-old daughter who recently overdosed on sleeping pills, not himself as previously reported. "None of us are OK," Thomas said. "My daughter is very down right now." He added that the incident "wasn't an overdose" and had occurred at school. Curiously, the police report cited a "47-year-old male" (Thomas is 47) as being the victim of the overdose. We're not sure why the reports are conflicting, but hopefully it will be cleared up soon...if it turns out Thomas is falsely pinning this on his daughter, his last shred of credibility will vanish. Source: NBA.com
How on earth can you use your daughter to cover up your own overdose? Isiah is unbelievable. What an *******.
D'antoni on WFAN: Expects up tempo game. wants players who care and expects eddy mcflurry to be in shape. "Has butterflies" before game time tonight. Praised Wilson Chandler and Nate Robinson. Tough situation regarding Marbury. Basically said his ego is bruised but asked him to buy in to his system. Regarding Ewing Jr: Liked him, thinks he has a future, thinks he should go to the nbdl/europe where he can play but too many guaranteed contracts. Will keep an eye on him. (for those unfamiliar many NYK fans, myself included wanted to keep him over fat slob Jerome James) Adjusting from suns to knicks roster: Said team will rely on competitive nature (ya like this team has any) to make up for talent deficiencies. Surprises about NY/reaction: Tough job, expects ups and downs. Just wants to get to "other side" feels there is no better place then NY to win. Zach trying to change game. Wants him to move ball, play inside and out. Has done everything asked and becoming more well rounded. needs to work more on conditioning. Happy with Duhon. Doesnt expect him to be Nash. Praised Duhon on D. Wants to see him mature as a playmaker.
It isn't Jackson I'm worried about. It's Buss. Shaq practically threw him in the pile and all but forced him to make the trade.
I don't know about you guys, but I don't want Shaq anywhere near our team. By 2010 he will be completely shot, if he isn't already. We'd once again invite media circus with Kobe Phil and Shaq on the same team. Talk about distraction.
You guys wouldn't take Shaquille O'Neal in an Alonzo Mourning type role (uh, without the energy, pride, and extreme motivation) to backup Andrew Bynum?
I wouldn't. I'm sick of Shaq and his big mouth. That rap song he did after we lost the Finals was the last straw for me. I know Hollywood would love that move, but I think we can do without the Kobe Shaq reunion.
He's a major reason you have those three rings.....he may be a shadow of his former self but he's still better then 70% of the centers in the NBA.
But he won't be in 2010. We of course appreciate what he did in the early 2ks and personally I would like to see him retire a Laker, but we have a Dynasty in the making here and we just don't need the distraction
Except I don't want to relive the Kobe-Shaq-Phil-Jerry-Jeanie drama again. If he can come back without distraction, I would definitely want him back. But that's like saying Eddy Curry can go on a diet. Maybe a team jester in 2010.
Clippers nearing trade for Knicks' Randolph - NBA - Yahoo! Sports Trading two of the few 3 point shooters on the roster for another big when you already have Camby and Kaman?
The trades have gone through. Were expected to be done last night but they were delayed. I'm not getting what the Clippers are thinking there. I know for a fact that they've been linked to Zach Randolph since the minute Elton Brand bolted for Philadelphia. They were on the phones and had talks with New York numerous times. So that move doesn't surprise me.The Knicks also moved Jamal Crawford today for Al Harrington. I believe Harrington's deal is expiring after this year.
Al has the option of playing or opting out after this yr. He wont get 10 mil a yr next yr with his #'s. Expect him to stay next yr.
I like the Clippers trade. They needed a low post scorer badly once Brand bolted. They can turn around and move Kaman, or have him come in off the bench. They didnt really give up any big contributor and got back exactly what they need; someone who can give them 20 points a night. I dont know what salary cap implications this has beyond this year, so that could perhaps change things. But on the surface, I think the Clippers got better today.
Good point but how is a selfish player like Randolph going to work with Baron Davis? Is that going to work out?
Inside The Shaq-Kobe Feud Iverson: I Plan On Playing 6 More Seasons I don't think his body can take it, especially for six more years.
They shouldn't be. Teams want C's and PF's. Swing one for a good 2 and they could be in business. Bleah. It's been 5 years, end it already. Even tabloids don't beat a dead horse of a story that long. They may have Kaman off the bench but I wonder who's going to play SG. The SG position is already a bit weak depth-wise. Gordon's a bit small. Collins hasn't shown much. Ricky Davis's shot is off, plus Davis and Randolph together? Not enough basketballs for that one to work. I gotta believe Randolph's hefty salary could bite the Clippers badly. On paper they look improved but I just wonder about how it's going to work on court.
Randolph has not played selfishly at all this year. he really has tried to fit in with Dantoni's offense. he just doesnt provide much interior defense even though hes a very good rebounder. But next to a good shotblocker or two like Kaman and Camby thats less of a priority.
Your correct Boik. I confused him with Eddy Curry and his usual play of ballhogging. Thanks for the correction.
