Too bad he takes every third play off and that the other 10 guys on the field with him can't tackle. Wow, that CLE defense made me nervous.
He has to be one of the worst coaches in the league. Cleveland tried so hard to lose that game, and Jauron went Wanny ball on the final drive to ensure a tough kick. Chris Berman is crying in his Cheerios this morning.
Exactly. This game gives us a perfect example of how a coaches decisions will be criticized strictly based upon the outcome. The Browns passed on three straight downs prior to their 56 yard field goal, burning off about 10 seconds from the clock and netting exactly 0 yards. Now, since they make that field goal, which was a VERY long shot, nobody cares that they left the Bills with a ton of time on the clock to snatch the game from them, or that a few runs would have surely given them another 5 to 7 yards, at least, which could have proven very critical on such a long field goal in such a windy atmosphere. Had they missed it, EVERYBODY would have cared about such decisions and ridiculed them just the same. On the other hand, you have the Bills who marched down into a reasonable field goal range and opted to RUN three straight times. In doing so they burned off as much of the clock as possible, they limited the possibility of a turnover, and they gained an extra 6 yards for their kicker. Yet since they MISSED their FG, it's suddenly a dumb call. That was a very makeable FG folks. He just pushed it. If he makes it, nobody questions the play calling. So, before we as fans question play calling, think about the decions from all perspectives, not just the outcome.
Just because Dawson made the kick doesnt mean it wasn't horrible strategy. The Bills could've very easily attempted a pass on First Down (they hit two long passes previously) and then ran on 2nd and 3rd. Both coaches were bad in this game. I dont know how anyone can deny that.
Geez is Berman the biggest Bill's homer or what?.....constantly saying, "Nobody circles the wagons like the Bills." Whatever the hell that is supposed to mean? SURRENDER, perhaps?? I had to chuckle over Berman constantly talking about Jim Kelly's greatness....I guess losing four straight SB's makes them "great," in Berman's mind. Coach Jauron, Trent Edwards and Marshawn Lynch all got cocky and smug when they were 5-1 and now they look like crap.
Yeah that was a thing of beauty, not to mention we hear so much about the Bills kickers and how good they are too. And their kicker can't win the game when given the chance, ouch that hurts. But to the bills credit, Marshawn lynch ran wild yesterday, he made the browns tackling look super bad and he just wouldn't go down even when they were tackling him. That game was realyl fun to watch last night, espcially because the horrible browns got the win in Buffalo.
Lynch always seems to be impossible to tackle one on one. Even when you have several guys on him he is breaking tackles and moving forward. He also is one of the uglier looking guys I have ever seen.....big old Sasquatch with gold teeth.
I dislike Berman as much as the next guy, but come on... Getting to 4 straight Super Bowls is quite an accomplishment. I guess Dan Marino is great because he lost the only Super Bowl he made it to? Bad logic.
Sure getting there is a nice accomplishment BUT the Bills never won it, just like Miami never won it with Dan at QB. I still think Dan Marino was the greatest QB ever, but he never came close to having the team Kelly had, or Joe Montana for that matter. I would say Kelly was an above average QB just like Troy Aikman and Joe Namath, but none of them were great like Dan. I think Marino and Aikman deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, but I don't think Namath or Kelly should be in the HOF.
Any guy that plays well enough to get to the Super Bowl 4 times in a row deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. That's just unheard of. Sure, he had some good teams around him, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he made all the plays he had to make to get to the Super Bowl. 4 times. How many other players have done that? Peyton Manning, how most think will own most of Dan Marino's records by the time he retires, hasn't done that with some amazing teams around him. Nor has Aikman. Nor any other QB that has had great teams around them. Perhaps Kelly made the players around him better?
i just loved the look on the bills fans faces when that 56 yd feld goal went through. they were already tired of toasting the win. lol
Meh... thats debatable. Everyone knew if we could stop Thomas from getting over 100 yards, we could win. The 'Thurmanator' would run all over us 90% of the time. Hence, why we lost so much to them. It really wasn't due to anything Kelly really did. He was good, but he fizzed out earlier than most mainly because the guys who he played with, that made that running game possible, fizzed out as well. Dont forget Smith, Talley and that defense had something to do with it too.
Well, Kelly was the starter in three of those Super Bowls, Frank Reich started in one of them as I recall. And besides, Jim Kelly is the first "U" Qb in the Hall of Fame, so hate the bills, love the Hurricanes.
