I am curious why is Tony Sparano the supposed #1 choice of Parcells I get the whole he knows him thing but what real crediability does Sparano have?

Look around the league Jason Garrett,Rex Ryan, Jim Caldwell these are names we hear as top assistants that are being considered and if you look at their work one understands why.

It concerns me to a degree that Sparano's value is he is known by Parcells & Ireland we'll see how it works I remember reading about Belichick being hired by Robert Kraft just because they became friendly so we'll see.

I am with you all the way on this one. I too do not want Sparano, but we have to keep in mind that Parcells is bringing in someone whom he will be able to mold in his way. Not to mention Sparano called the plays for Parcells in Dallas, so there is alot of experience and similarity there....therefore, they figure they can pick up where they left off.....

If we get someone like Schottenhiemer or Cowher, there will be bumping of heads in our front office. Parcells will go after a coach who would be more inclined to go with his executive decisions. But like I said before (in a different thread), this will leave us in a world of crap when Parcells decides to leave.

Despite, my first choice for coahc would have been Garrett if we wanted to go after someone inexperienced for HC.

Cameron was suppose to make our offense good, It's not always about they Name you know and hear all the time. Obviously Parcells and Ireland have a reason they want this guy. They know alot more about him they we and the media do. I don't see it as a bad thing. He can't be any worse than Cam was.

I was a bit skeptical about it but after reading up on him I'm all for it. He worked wonders with their offensive line and did a great job calling plays. He's been the assistant for 5 years I believe. Parcells and Ireland know EXACTLY what they are doing. They are building this team from the ground up and it's awesome to watch.

Don't expect to see another 1-15 season out of us.

Maybe they are turned on by red heads.

I think Garret's staying put in Dallas. I'll go as far as saying he doesn't do well as a head coach.

other than cowher, who i doubt will be coaching next year, the list of candidates out there isnt that spectacular. so im all for parcells and ireland getting someone they feel best fits their system. i too dont understand why a lot of people are clamoring for garrett either. i think he needs to be a coordinator for quite some time before he is ready for a head coach position.

Support system or not, he's not anywhere near Head coaching material at the moment.

cause he was our QB coach, and now he's Dallas's OC (of course he's got a lot of weapons). Fact is he is NOT ready to be a HC yet, he's only been a coach for 3 years. I think he'll be a very good HC, but he needs more time. Oh and those saying we should not have let him leave; he's a Cowboy at heart, he played most of his career there and loves the organization.

as for why we're going for Sparano; Parcells and Ireland know what type of player he wants, and he has a lot of the same philosophies as Tuna. Sparano also has had success as a college HC (even if it was at New Haven), and he's been able to take some throw aways and make them into solid linemen (namely Marc Columbo and Kyle Kosier)

And those worried about inexperienced HCs; Mike McCarthy had no prior HC, Jack Del Rio was not a HC somewhere else, Mike Tomlin was only a DC for 1 year. Experience isn't everything, it's also how your players respond to you.
