Dude, I totally said that when it was first suggested by talking heads on TV and radio. I said go ahead do it. Makes it easier for Ronnie/Ricky/Cobbs/Ginn to run it down their throat.

I'm like a freaking genius over here, smarter and faster than Belichick ...

    Great,

I just hope we run up the score and do a drop-kick out of Punt Formation just to show that smug **** up...

LMAO!! I had almost forgotten about that. BB is such a tool. I can't wait til our team is a powerhouse and put 40 on them in the first half, then run up the score in the 2nd half..

There is no other team in football I hate more than those stinkin' Patriots, and I hope we just completely dominate them...again.

It's building up to become a clash in mammoth proportions.

Here's the full press conference: Bill Belichick Conference Call - 11/17/2008

They don't cover Chad which gives them an extra guy in defense so I think we should throw to Pennington. Keep them off guard. Maybe just once early so they have to respect it and not have that extra man advantage. Just a thought.
I can see our coaches throw a lot of variations against NE. May be they should stay away from everything they have done so far and do everything regarding the wildcat completely different. Make the Pats waste their time on stuff we did previously but will not actually call on game day.
This sounds encouraging. BB will have no idea what the next formation, blocking scheme or play we'll run next. He doesn't seem to worry about it too much but he knows it'll come. This is getting very interesting now. Hopefully BB won't be able to adjust to whatever we're going to throw at them.

we actually won that game if im not mistaken.

i have a sense, that we're gonna throw some crazy **** at the Pats this week, and bring it on defense.

He is saying OTHER teams take that approach, not that his team will. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Chad get put on his butt at least once or twice by the Patriots defender. It makes perfect sense to me too. Rough the QB up a bit, That cornerback is somewhat out of the play to begin with.

Hit the QB, even if you don't injure him (most likely you won't) you still hit the QB and make his body more fatigued going forward. I really don't foresee having too much success again against New England in the wildcat. Say what you will about BB, but he has got his team in the thick of the playoff race with a beat up, aging team that is relying on a backup QB who really hasn't started since high school.

The guy knows how to gameplan and I wouldn't be surprised if he sniffs out the formation this time around...and perhaps even throws it back in our face on the offensive side of the ball.

Couldnt Penny just fall to the ground the second he sees the defender coming for him? Or dodge him like a bullfighter? I think that would be a easy solution for that..

Knowing him he'll use it too.

  14. First off Pennington is a gamer and whoever hits him may be in for a very unpleasant surprise. That defender may get knocked on his *** by penny and I really hate to think of what Ronnie, Ricky or what some other bruiser on our offense might do to that little db when we run a play or two right at him and send him off limping to the sidelines. I mean seriously could you imagine if a team intentionally took a cheap shot at penny how our entire team would react to that. What do they think Porter and Roth will do to Cassel in response to that. They could be playing the rest of their season out with their 3rd string QB.

I think they should be more worried about their QB's safety than the Wild Cat. Didn't we sack them like 3 or 4 times last time we played them. I mean we shut them down on D. They scored 13 points.

F*** the Wild Cat, you better be worried about Peezy.

Reading some of the posts after the article just goes to show you that BB and fans have about as much class as Pee Wee Herman.

  18. Your right, he could but I'm guess he wouldnt. Once you run out of bounds arnt you not allowed to reenter onto the field until the play is over?

I like the idea of Ginn getting the end around, sending Penny straight downfield off the snap, and if the DB goes with him (as effective as a block) then Ginn tries to turn the edge, and if the DB sits back to defend the end around, then heave it deep to Penny.

    Simple, yet potentially effective.

If he is not in the play, and especially if the play goes toward the opposite side of the field, he should. That is if the Cb is drawing a bead on him.

Remember how good Denver defended the wildcat? They were coming off a bye, and had the time to teach the defense to stop it.

The Pats are essentially coming off a bye, having played last Thursday. That gives them an extra 3 days to prepare. My guess is that the Dolphins bring a brand new bag of toys to this contest.

I just hope Miami isn't looking past this week to the Rams game in week 13. One game at a time fellas, one game at a time. lol.

No one is looking past this one, gish. This is it. This is the big one. What happens against the Pats can define who the Dolphins really are. Beating a division rival twice will really show the NFL that they are truely a solid team. A loss just puts them back into the mix with the "others". We'll be on the edge of our seats.

No doubt in my mind that Miami will show NE something completely different out of the Wildcat formation. The one time the Jets ran the ball out of the Wildcat on Thursday they gained 17 yards.

because they beat the pats so easily last time. Meanwhile, the Rams will be our first road opponent in over a month. May want to rest up before taking on the best of the mid-west. I hear Dante Hall is planning on a comeback tour against our ST coverage unit. :pity:

It's a road game.. at the rams. I'm almost overlooking that game and I usually don't do that.

And him and every other guy has planned a come back tour against our ST :(

nevermind. it was sarcasm. no way the Dolphins look past the Pats, in fact they practiced on monday after a win.

i do think we will see a lot of wildcat from both teams. this will be a test to see if it will work longterm.

This is going to be our make or break game as for as I'm concerned. If we can come away with a win this Sunday it will give us the push we need to carry us thru to the end of this season.

The article comments from the pats fans... piss me off:

I would go so far as to say they should risk a penalty and just have someone continue to smash Pennington -- even after the whistle. Giving up one touchdown would be worth it, because either Pennington could be knocked out of the game or they would hesitate to use the formation any more

That's a real solid way to go about things...beat up Penny, even after the whistle as many suggested and that would solve the issues of them not being able to contain their gaps and open up running lanes for our guys....smart thinking...

In fact, they'd probably use the Wildcat even more if Henne were in instead of Penny...

The problem is, if they do knock Penny out of the game, who's to say that Henne can't come in and knock them off...afterall, they'll have no film on him and he certainly has a stronger arm ??

I know that is stretching a bit, but the fact is that wishing or purposely taking out another player won't give them the big advantage they think...

As much as I don't like BB and co., I think even he has more class than to purposely take out a guy...now, some of his players...I'm not so sure about...cough...Wilfork, Harrison, Bruschy...cough...

you cant just hit someone because they are lined up at WR... you can jam them at the LOS if they are out running a route... you can hit him if he has the ball, but you cant just go up to an offensive player away from the play and tackle him...

if penny was trying to block, yes they can get physical, if he was running past the LOS on a route, yes you can jam him (and jamming him is basically pushing him, a 5'11" 185lb cornerback pushing our 6'3" 235 QB isn't going to cause some major injury), but you cant tackle him, you cant drive him to the ground...

that whole idea of hitting Pennington makes no sense to me... people act like you touch a QB they are going to immediately be injured... Penny would probably much prefer getting hit by a CB from a standstill, than when they come off a blitz running full speed into the pocket, or by a 280lb defensive lineman...

This is exactly how I feel. I think if this is the Pats gameplan, they will fail. Chad isn't a pushover QB. He has already lined up at that position multiple times and is savvy enough to avoid getting crushed while lined up as a wideout.

He is a QB and it is much easier to avoid 1 CB trying to jam you than to avoid a pass rush where you have mulitiple rushers trying to take your head off.

  37. Samphin

Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει

If the Dolphins break the huddle and Pennington lines up as a wideout, I am immediately putting Vrabel on him. Chad cannot run past him and Vrabel can chuck him hard in that five yard zone. You rough Chad up, the wildcat stops. You rough Chad up, the offense stops.

Outside of the wildcat formation, this offense really hasn't shown much in my opinion. I'm not saying that the Patriots WILL do this, I am just saying I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Chad IS the offense at this point. If we lose him, or he gets worn out from trying to get the LB/CB off of him, it will pay off in spades later on for New England.

This doesn't work on so many levels.

First of all, Pennington can run out of bounds. Why do people continue to ignore this fact? And furthermore, you really think they're going to move Vrabel outside of a position to make a play when you have the likes of Gary Guyton and Pierre Woods on the inside trying to contain Ronnie Brown?

    That would be asinine.

100% correct. They would take out one of there better defenders for no reason. If you watched the Oakland game, Ronnie was lined up in the Wildcat and Penny was to the left near the out of bounds line. The CB for Oakland immediately left Penny and came inside. I was shouting at Ronnie to recognize it and throw it to Penny for an easy 1st down and more. If anyone got close he could always run out of bounds to protect himself.

Everyone knows that Bellicheck is gonna come up with some crazy stuff for this game. What makes anyone think that a corner (5"10, 190) is gonna be able to rough up Chad (6'3", 220) anyway? LOL! Let's not forget that alot of the time the Wildcat is called to see what D they're gonna run against it too, whether yards are gained or not! Setup play... I could see Henning calling the Wildcat for the first play just to see what they do.
