Captain obvious here I mean everybody could use a good QB right now, but I hope we can get a solid veteran who is a total pro and can execute an offense, a younger Trent Green candidates: - Pennington - Holcombe - Volek - Rattay - Redman
Quite a while back CK said that Collins might be our QB next year. He was right about Daunte so maybe it will happen.
the guy we get might not float our boat, but could be just good enough to keep us competitive until Beck or whomever emerges the mention of Sean Hill or Todd Collins would have gagged us a year ago, now they actually look good
in the case of Collins, he knew his job; help Campbell become accustomed to Al Saunder's offense. His success as a starter is suprising (considering he hasn't taken a snap in 10 years), but he knows he doesn't have to win the game, and all he has to do is manage the game. He also knows he's not gonna be the long term starter so he's not worried about losing his job. Hill would probably be the same way. Knows he's gonna be a back up so he's not worried about doing too much.
Give the reigns to BECK, sign a trustworthy clipboard holder and veteran backup only. Draft another QB in day two later rounds only cause of Becks age and young 3rd string QBs are quite valuable as trade bait sometimes or they emerge as starters down the line.
Say what you want about the guy, but he finds a way to get things done. He may not have a very strong arm and he does have an injury history, but he's an intelligent QB that can give you a chance to win. We could do much worse, Todd Collins for example.
Well, Penny, Collins, etc....sign whoever you want but they are holding a clip board and only playing mop up and worst case injury time only to hold down the fort.....Beck is our near term future.
As long as it's not the Todd Collins I just watched.Kinda' looked like Jay Keebler to me.Always thought Volek had some potential.
We definitely don't "need" Todd Collins. All of those QB's are EXTREMELY AVERAGE AT BEST, honestly. I don't see the point in signing or trading for an old QB on a team that is being rebuilt. Of course we need a veteran QB, but not at the expense of a draft choice that Collins would cost. In that sense, I'd take Pennington if/when released, but he still sucks, IMO. Todd Collins is officially the most overrated player in football. Yeah, I saw it coming.
this probably has merit. Sparano being a oline guru will fully understand that for a qb to succeed, he needs time, something John did not get
Yeah. I don't see the point in starting an old QB on a team that will win 7-8 games tops, probably about 4-5. Veteran backup? Sure. But please........nothing more, nothing less.
he is only younger than him by one year. personally im done with the 37 year old qbs. Id much rather get josh mccown.
I don't think we need Todd Collins, unless you mean we need a veteran backup. From the throws he made, it seemed like he thought Santana Moss was a 6'3 WR instead of a 5'10 guy.
I didnt think he had that bad of a game. His recievers dropped alot of passes, and the pick six was because his reciever gave up on the play.
Josh McCown is probably one of the most pathetic QB's in the NFL. There's a reason why he's referred to mostly as "McClown" I wouldn't even bring that guy in to compete for the 3rd string job.
The only person that least I would get is Pennington but he can't throw a deep much which will take Ginn's ability to go deep. Irony the only team I have seen him throw deep against is us. Beck>?>rookie Lemon will most likely get paid higher somewhere else to be a backup.
