Bell And Long Nominated For Weekly NFL Honors - NEWS: Top Story Presented by WACHOVIA - MiamiDolphins.com
He allowed 2 sacks against the Seahawks? I remember one where he made a horrible mental mistake and let a player through untouched as he read the wrong guy pass rushing but which was the other one?
It was kinda funny. Long kinda stood there as the backer run past and I bet he was thinking 'oh no...I just got dupped'
Seahawks have all the variations with their blitzes. I kinda saw it coming before the game and thought that Jake might get fooled one time but I was hopeful that Jake would be well prepared. To the Seahawks credit they disguised it extremely well.
I was going to create a thread about a fact, but I think posting it here wouldn't be off topic: This year we're constantly into the highlights in some manner. Every week we have a player or a play disputing some award...''Defensive/Offensive player of the week'', ''Rookie of the week'', Play of the week...bla bla bla Check espn highlights...look for NFL.com videos.....the dolphins are making a case for some honor in a weekly basis. That means we're already making noise.
That was his number at the beginning of training camp. Someone else had 77 and he took it when they got cut.
With Flacco and Ryan, C. Johnson and Forte and a few other skilled offensive players out there, Long's chances of garnering any postseason awards are slim to none...the public only sees the guys who move the ball, to a lesser extent the guys who int. passes or sacks the QB and never sees the guys along the OL...Longs doing well enough...I'm happy with him and I'm sure the staff is happy with his progress...
He had the one big mistake as mentioned in the thread, but I've gone back and rewatched the game and DAMN!, for all the blitzes that Seattle attempted and the pressure they got on Chad, almost all of it came over the right side of the line. Outside of that one play, Jake was OUTSTANDING in pass pro. It's so satisfying to know that we have that guy for a long time. And all the questions and concerns about his pass protection when he was selected have all gone out the window. Outside of a few mental errors that have led to a couple sacks, I haven't seen him give up a single sack because of his abilities against a speed rusher (which was everyone's primary concern). And he's went up against some decent speed rushers so far (i.e. M. Williams, T. Suggs, etc.)
