    He was asked who is the team to watch..{only posting this because he is one of the few opinions that i respect on that network}

He said he loved us, they way we are being built, our lines, our pressure on the QB.

What i loved most from what he said was that we have'nt even played our best football. Its so interesting to me and something ive been talking about, iam watching these games like buffalo for example, we played a bad first half in that game and still had the game out of reach midway fourth quarter.

Ive been saying that we are talented enough to compete this year, we are'nt necessarily that young or old as a football team, perfect blend of youngsters and veterans.. We can do this {serious playoff run} if we stay hungry and humble.

Trent dilfer also said something that i agree with and that was The Jets are the team to beat because of one man {you know who}. which kills me to say but i do agree with. I think its gonna come down to the miami dolphins vrs brett farve, if it wasnt for that guy we would of kicked their behinds in that first game, i was so scared of him going into that game just because of his skill set and how that skillset is a really bad matchup for us. but have a meaningful game against the jets at the meadowlands with our tough team at the end of the year.....priceless, win or lose....

I still think you are setting yourself up for a let down. I'm happy with where we are at, but we have also lost games that playoff teams would not have.

Farve is not the key to the Jets, its the defense, and if Jenkins plays like he did yesterday they will be tough.

I've been saying it for weeks now:

December 28. Dolphins vs jets for the division crown.

Why? Most of us are going to be pissed if we lose regardless of how we think the season is going to end... so we might as well take this playoff hopes high and roll with it...

I don't see why everyone has to be negative when people set their hopes high. Whats the point of even rooting for a team if you expect disappointment?

So what if we could go 4-12, we could go 12-4 with that very same logic.

I fell ya man, but this is the time you have to live or die with your team, i feel like they get it now and iam gonna push them as hard as i can. If they lose one of the next two games, I will be dissapointed.

I study this team like a lot of us do around here, but i can honestly say that i have read every article and listened to every presser all year, i feel like i know my team, i feel their ready for this run. What iam really scared of is, are we ready to do our part.

There is only one thing that can stop this train the next two weeks...our fans not supporting them like they want us to.

They are very aware of the empty seats, i think they feel like they have earned our respect and hope that we are there for them come sunday. This team wants to play in fron of a crazy crowd, their young, exuberant and are developing a swagger, all their missing is the twelth man.

I think Brett farve is a great football player, i think he singlehandidly beat us in the first game of the season. I believe the jets are the team to beat in the afc at the end of the year. hes only gonna get more comfortable.

    Two reasons..

His ability to keep a play alive is uncanny and does not show up in the stats.

2}The deception to which he plays the position, his misdirection, play action skills are the best in the league. both of those things are our kryptonite.

Jemele Hill was on First Take this morning and said she likes Miami to win the division because they have the easiest remaining schedule and the only team in the division who is getting better week by week.

I find it crazy how people just discount the New England Patriots. Tom Brady or not, they've held the crown forever now and they're not going to give it up lightly.

The game against that team in a couple of weeks will be very, very tough to win...home or not. When you embarrass a veteran team like that at their home field, don't expect them to not remember. It's much like the Ravens game, but we'll need even more intensity than that beat the NE Patriots, especially if the Division is on the line.

We've got a GREAT chance to make the playoffs and win the division, but we'll have to get past the Defending Champs to do it. The Bills and Jets will be difficult, but my money is on the Patriots to be the gnat.

Is anyone actually discounting the Pats?...I haven't read anything saying that. But most are viewing them as mere mortals these days. As well they should. With 3 losses out of 8 games they're middle of the pack this year. Now take into consideration out of their 5 wins the Jets are the only team with a winning record. To me that validates their mediocrity.
You're right we need to get past NE to be division champs, but:
We've taken a giant step in that direction by beating them in NE.
We also need to contend with Buffalo and NY
In the past we've usually had to play in NE late in the year. This year we don't have to worry about playing in the snow and cold when we visit.
The only cold weather divisional game we have this year is the final game of the season in NY. Our 2nd game against Buffalo is inside a Toronto stadium.

Question.....what does this mean? I have no idea.

If our DBs and defense can play as well as on Sunday Favre will throw some picks too.

    Hopefully more than TDs .

We all know that when a football team shows promise that the fans will be there for them. But the lack of fans isn't because we aren't there to support them, I just think a lot of people simply can't afford it. I know from past experiance that 2 tickets, parking, food, gas and tolls can run you up around 3-400 bucks. Times are tough and the league has priced them selves out of some fans reach. It sucks but it is what it is. I think if tickets reflected todays economy, we would see sell out games.

i understand brother, what i mean the most is our demeanor inside the stadium, we must battle the configuration of the stadium and cheer extra loud so we can make an impact, as fans we need to step our game up, get more emotional. just get loco man. This team deserves extra effort on our part.

Hey Late, where did you get that quote from regarding the Pats being the gnat? My guess is that it equates them to being the fly in the ointment; a non-playoff bound team that will be good enough to hurt the chances of other so-called good teams from getting to the playoffs. Personally, I still see them making it this year and still winning the division crown. Just a guess, but that reign will not go away just yet. We will take it from them in '10 (Brady will be back for them, six to eight new starters on defense/offense for the Phins, in '09), as if my bold statement carries any weight.

Favre is our Achilles...just look at the first game...two throws dictated that game and lost it for us. Two throws that most QBs would be coached to NOT attempt and we can't defend them...they were lucky, not necessarily skillful throws, but they beat us none the same...

No, the Jests are the team that can make or break us, assuming we stay the course until we play them next...

In post #13 in this thread. It's in the post that I quoted..very last sentence.
I have no idea. It may be a part of a certain vernacular that I'm not familiar with because I'm old or it could be a misspelled word....no idea.
Regardless, the Pats are not the team to beat in our division anymore. They've become passe

That's my take on it as well. Favre just does things that you can't anticipate. About the only way to deal with him is to put him on the ground.

How many times does Favre have to throw into triple coverage before it becomes anticipated? :shifty:

I agree Favre has played better than I expected but he hasn't been great. IMO Jenkins is the bigger factor. Take Jenkins off that team and we beat them going away. They also have at least two more losses. But keep that team the same and leave Pennington there instead of Favre then I think they have one or two more wins.

We are still way short of having the talent, the running game, needed to compete seriously if we do get in the playoffs. I am no longer ruling out the playoffs completely, but I will be extremely ecstatic with this team whether we get into the playoffs or not.

Already this team has gone further than I ever dreamed we would in such a rebuilding year and after going 1-15 just a year ago. I hope we do make the playoffs, still doubt we do, but no longer calling that crazy. Either way, we will be considered winners and a team to look out for next season.

I don't know. Our team definitely has holes but the rest of the conference is so bad that I can't say we're short of talent in comparison.

And you're, whatever happens I'm happy with the progress of this team.
