According to the Sun-Sentinel, Sparano is going to interview tomorrow.

Werent we bringing the Vikes DC for an interview? He would be the Rooney Rule guy right there.

And if we dont get Sparano, dont be shocked if Bill goes after someone like Todd Bowles or Maurice Carthon. Apparently hes been developing these guys for years and could just jump the gun. And if we do get Sparano, dont be shocked to see them as our DC/OC.

I get the feeling that this is all a formality for the Tuna.

He probably had all of his cronies on board before he even called his lawyers up and met with Wayne to sign the contract...

Lol..funny how we find ANYONE to be someone to satisfy the Rooney Rule. Hmmm, how about that guy on that team. I think he is a good candidate.

Which is a good thing. Parcells had a plan and so far it is working.

Am I the only one that feels the Rooney Rule is more condescending than helpful? I'm all for more black HC's in the NFL, but it seems like teams ignore it anyway and they bring in minority candidates without any real interest in them just to satisfy the rules.

    How is that helpful?

If they don't have any interest in the guy, all their doing is paying for a free lunch in order to skirt NFL rules. JMO

Overall I agree. Mainly it seems like a rule that gives both a false sense of hope to a coach who wont be hired, but at the same time giving him experience to be able to interview.

Depending on your point of view it has a need and still serves a purpose.

    It is incredibly condescending.

Imagine if you could afford to own an NFL team how would you like someone telling you who and how to hire YOUR employees.

I would hate it. It makes sense in principle, but not in practice...

Al Davis hired Art Shell when there wasn't any policy mandating how to make hires, Bill Walsh started his programs to bring in minority coaches long before this was in place. Denny Green was a coach hired and fired before it was around as well...

He doesn't have to be nice. He needs to trade his two 1sts to New England or the Jets for their 1st, and then trade that pick to us with their 2nd this year and 2009 1st for our pick. Oh yeah...and throw in a fifth so we can take Sam Keller or Matt Flynn.
