    So here we go.
The 2007 season, at least for the Miami Dolphins, is over. It wasn’t an easy season for any Dolfan to endure, and the outcome was far worse than most fans were expecting. A 1-15 season is a tragedy, but there is a bright side to it, it shows the integrity of the fanbase.

There seems to be a divide between fans who wished Miami had held on to Cam Cameron as HC and those who believed Parcells and company did the right thing in letting him walk. Whatever your belief is, you should be proud. For one reason or another, your still here, still hopelessly devoted to a bad team, enough to argue with others about something you truly believe in. It’s a good thing, taking pride in your beliefs, and your team at the same time. That’s the beauty of sports in a way. There’s nothing stopping you from going out and buying a Patriots jersey and simply rooting for the best team, there’s no law saying you can just jump ship and feel like a winner. Yet, there is something wrong about that, isn’t there?

This season brought up questions such as “Why do I put myself through this?†or “Why are they so bad?†We’ve seen Injuries, ridiculous timeouts, poor personnel decisions, lack of heart (CLEO…) you name it, and Miami fans endured it this year. And yet here we are, on a message board discussing how things can get better.

Why am I still a fan? Because anything other than Teal and white makes me sick. Because when I was a kid, I thought Dan the Man was the best to ever play the game, and I still do. Because when I see Ronnie run the ball I feel bad for the suckers trying to tackle him. Because I’m exactly 5-11, and seeing a guy like Zach Thomas play bigger than he is for 12 years has been a blessing and a blast (Thanks again Zach) Because I have a dog slobbered, torn and worn out Dolphins blanket that my dad gave me for my 6th birthday still laying on my bed today. Because for some reason, the Dolphins are the only team that ever made sense to me.

You all have answers to this question, you all have your reason for believing in this team, no matter what decisions are made. You all know what question this is, and you all know why, after a 1-15 season, its good time to remember.

Why are you a Miami Dolphins fan?

Ever since I started watching football, it was Dolphins. I was strictly a basketball fan for a long time, but the first team I saw when I started watching football was the Phins. It just stuck with me.

I started to watch football when I was five years old....in 1971. I chose the Dolphins as my team because I loved the aqua blue color. That is the only reason I really liked them at first. I was living in Italy and so I had to listen to the SB's on the Armed Forces Radio network, as the games were not broadcast on tv around the world like they are today. I remember the Cowboys beat the Dolphins in the Superbowl...but the Phins then went on to win back to back SB's. I have been with them ever since...through the good and the bad.

    Just a die-hard fan!!!!

Started watching them in the '71 SB against Dallas and just fell for all the guys. Shula is my hero, along with Zonk,Griese, Kiick. Nick B. all the other guys. Been bleeding aqua & orange since and plan on keeping it up, no matter what. The history of this team is awsome and I never thought the '72 guys got all the recognistion they deserved, and still do. :bighug:

  11. This is one of the very best threads I have seen on here in a very long time in fact I will go as far as saying best ever thread I have read. Props to you for making us all take stock in our love for our team.

I dont really like the fins i like all the really hot female fin fans lol just kidding i like the fins too!

I became a fin fan when I was a young buck and met Larry Czonka in an airport. I was too scared to even meet him. My aunt told him I was afraid to come talk to him and he came over to me and acted like an uncle. It was 1977 and I was a 7yr old boy and he was the biggest monster of a man and the nicest person I ever met and from that day forward I knew that was a fraternity I wanted to be associated with. Lots of great stories since then but that was my magic moment of becoming enamoured with the fins.

I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't a Dolphins fan. I have no idea why or when I became one. My dad wasn't a football fan (let alone a Dolphins fan). He is really into boxing. I do remember at 6years old begging my dad for Dolphins shirts and other Dolphins related stuff. I collect mini helmets and, at one time, I had about 50 Dolphins mini helmets (as a kid) and almost every player card at one point.

Anyway, like I said, I can't remember how or why. But I know that I have converted almost my entire family into Dolphins fans through the passion I have shown for them all of my life.

I was born in Florida in 1966, the same year the Fins were born. My mom was a Florida native and my dad had lived here for years at that time, and the Dolphins were the only team in the state so that was the team we rooted for and being a stubborn, hardheaded kind of guy, I refuse to change.

It's Griese, Csonka, Morris, Kiick, Kuech, & The Perfect Season. It's the Orange Bowl and the crowd there. It's Don Strock, Duriel Harris, Nat Moore, Tony Nathan, & The comeback and then lose in OT to the Chargers (what a game). It's The Killer B's, A.J Duhe beating the Jets in the AFC Championship, & Jim "Crash" Jensen. It's Dan The Man. It's beating the 85 Bears on Monday night. It's The Marks Brothers and ALL of DAN MARINO'S comeback wins and it's DON SHULA the greatest coach of all time and only TWO losing seasons with him running the show. More recently it's Zach, Timbo, and Jason. There is certainly more, but it is these type of games and players that make my blood run AQUA and ORANGE. It is these type of things that I try to explain to my 14 year old son (also a Fins fan) to keep his hope alive. It's all of this that has kept me rooting hard EVERY Sunday (and purchasing the "Sunday Ticket") through all of the "lean years" and the 1 - 15 season.

I grew up in Miami,FL and when I was 12 years old I saw the first Phins game played on Monday Night Football in Buffalo when the Stadium was called Rich Stadium. Of course, most of the Phins games were boadcasted because they were the hometown team. I had very little knowledge about the NFL or its past history, but decided that the Phins were gonna be the team to root for.
The year was 1982 and we had a class trip to the Orange Bowl for Crime Stoppers week. We also got autographs from various players and I remember meeting Dwight Stephenson, Doug Betters, and Mike Kozlowski just to name a few.

That experience just solitified my being a Dolphins fan and I stuck with from there. A true fan sticks with their team thru thick and thin and that's what I've done and I won't change. GO Phins forever !

I was 14 years old in South Florida when the first rumors of a new AFL football team coming to Miami were rumbling through the area. The formal announcement that I read was in the Miami Herald. Liking the new AFL because they threw the ball and ran like crazy compared to the old NFL, which appeared to me old and stodgy, I was thrilled. Later, I listened to the first game of the opening season on my radio (it wasn't on TV where I was - remember arials, masts, and rotors) when Joe Auer took the kickoff back 95 yards for a score. Have been hooked ever since.

I came to this country at the age of 7 (1985) and didn't really know much about Football, one Sunday after my family came back from church, my mom turned on the TV, and a Dolphins game was on. I got hooked instantly, and never looked back since. Watching Shula and Dan was some of the best childhood memories I have.

    Forever a Fin!

My father and mother were dating during the early Shula years. At the time my whole family on my mother's side had season tickets taking up a whole section of the orange bowl. If you have access to some old Dolphin Digest's you can actually see my Aunt. The one before the Super Bowl in the perfect season has a screaming fan on the cover and the title is Jimmy the Greek predicts Dolphins over Redskins. That screaming fan is my Aunt Peggy. My father's favorite player ever was Larry Czonka. It cracked my father up to watch him rumble over defensive players half his size. Not being a Dolphins fan in our house was akin to growing up communist in the Macarthy era.

I was seven years old when we drafted Marino and remember growing up watching him with my dad on the couch on Sundays. I also remember some of the great games like watching the Phins beat the Bears on Monday night in 1985. Ironically when I was younger I only watched the games because my father cared so much. I would root for them, but was pretty ambivalent to if they won or lost.

My father died in 1990 while I was still 14. For whatever reason watching the games became much more important to me then. It was almost kind of a way to hold on to something we shared. Since then I have lived and died (mostly died lately) for the Phins be it in season or off season even though I haven't lived in South Florida for over twenty years.

I can't really tell you why I'm a fan. I just like the Dolphins for as long as I can remember. As a kid, something must have caught my attention. Logo, colors, who knows. Noone in my family is a Dolphins fan, in fact, I'm surrounded by Steeler fans. I'm pretty sure Dan Marion had a lot of influence on me though. Sigh.....

I have lived in Florida my whole life, and in South Florida for the first twelve years of my life. I remember watching Dan Marino leading us from fourth quarter deficits on a constant basis and became a fan.

I can't stop rooting for them, no matter what.

I became a fan at a young age in 1970. The Dolphins were the first team I had ever seen in this new sport (to me) called football. So 38 years later, I really have no choice. My brain is so hard-wired to Dolphins football, you would have to put it in a cuisinart to de-program it.

Living in Toronto I was raised on Hockey, I suffered as a Maple Leaf fan for too many years before I turned on the TV in 1993 and saw the greatest QB of all time, Dan the Man, throw for 400+ yards. I havn't looked back. I'm still a Leaf fan but at least now I can actually see my team win once and a while. 1-15...15-1...whatever, Orange and Teal 4ever.

I became a Miami Dolphins fan back in '82. My Dad who is a Chicago Bears fan loved to watch football every Sunday with me and my brother. One morning his watching CBS and the Miami Dolphins were playing the New York Jets. I was amazed and mesmerized. The final score in that game was 45 to 28 the Dolphins won. That year I followed them in a Strike shorten year. They ended up with a 7-2 record and made the playoffs only 9 games were played that year.

The following week they played the New England Patriots in the Wild Card round and won 28-13.

The following week they played the San Diego Chargers in the Divisional Playoffs and won 34-13.

The following week after that they played in the AFC Championship Game against the New York Jets and won 14-0 to go to Super Bowl XVII.

My Dad told me they are going to the Super Bowl!! I told my dad I want to go!! So on January 30, 1983 my dad took me to SUPER BOWL XVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. My dad bought me a hat and t-shirt. I absolutely fell in love with the Miami Dolphins. We lost that game 27-17 and I cried for a long time but, my dad always told me "Son they are the greatest team in all of the NFL back in 1972when you were just 2 they ran the table and went 17-0 and winning Super Bowl VII. They also won SB VIII as well in fact they went to 3 Super Bowls in arow!! THEY WILL BE BACK COUNT ON IT!!"

Since those early days 25 years ago and counting I have been a fan. I will always be a Miami Dolphins fan for life. And eventually one day I will see my favorite team ever win a Super Bowl and even if we don't I will still root on the greatest team of all sports The MIAMI DOLPHINS till I die.

This season (1-15) has really made me realize how true a die hard I am and will always be. GO DOLPHINS NOW AND FOREVER!!!
