I'm looking forward to seeing it, but seeing the black top for Kirk is kinda odd.....

From what I've read, that detail is key to the plot, as it's some sort of first-command-type thing. Point being: there's a specific reason it's different from what you'd expect.

Cool, sounds like alot of new fresh ideas are going to be injected by Abrams. I for one am also glad they aren't trying to dumb down the look of it. I understand the reason why TOS looked the way it did, I've always felt they were no reason to try and keep with the look, just imo. I know others dont like it but it has never really bothered me much at all.

Based on early screenings of about 20 minutes of the film, I guess Pine is ok as Kirk, Quinto is quite good as Spock and Karl Urban absolutely NAILS McCoy.

Can't wait to see the trailer tomorrow night.

I don't know. I tried not to read the spoiler-rich reviews of the clips. I have a feeling he'll be fine. He seems to have a good grasp of the character in interviews.

Here's a REALLY meaty look at the film...so if you dont want it to be spoiled, DONT LOOK.

I got to say its like Dawsons Creek + Phantom Menace.

    I am really disappointed.

Yet, at the sametime, I actually expected this from Abrams.

I don't want to see the spoiler, but no matter how bad it turns out, it's still Star Trek. I thought that Nemesis and Insurrection were terrible and I had high hopes for Nemesis since the even-numbered movies tended to be good. Still it's Star Trek.

As much as he was the lead Kirk was never my favorite character through any of it - I'm really anxious to see Quinto as Spock and Pegg as Scotty as they were probably my favorite Star Trek characters growing up.

I do wish Shatner had not been a knob and worked with the writers to have a cameo as it would be fitting.

Quinto must have an edge already working with George Takei & Nichelle Nichols from Heroes.

Quinto wanted this role HARDCORE from the get-go. I have a lot of faith he'll nail it.

I feel like I'm cheating on the Star Wars trilogy by anticipating this movie (yes I said trilogy I refuse to acknowledge those other three movies as part of the master work)

I've tried looking for a Klingon translation of thank you for Hero's post, but I can't find it. There may not be an expression in Klingon. They probably don't have an equivalent expression.

    Nah, that was always overblown.

The only times he even did that remotely was when it was an emphasis scene and maybe he felt like he needed to do that to make it more dramatic....but that'd be like once or twice at most in an episode.

I'm dying to see this movie. I loved Star Trek since I was like 8 years old, and seeing the original series revamped makes me very happy. TNG was cool, DS9 a little less, I lost interest after that.

If you look around on the AICN site, you'll find links to other reviews, which it seems are similarly enthusiastic. I'm catching the midnight showing of this when it opens here, for sure.

This just gets more and more exciting. I have to say that although The Wrath of Khan was great, I liked First Contact even more.
