Hopefully it continues. The offense lately has been closer to what he ran in high school, seems to be helping.

Good article about possible bowl landing spots. 1 win from being eligible, but it shouldnt be a problem unless the wheels completely fall off. The comments from the heads of these bowls in interesting. I like the idea of a 6-6 ND team getting in the Gator Bowl over a a 10-2 Big East team lol. It wouldnt happen, but I'd laugh.

I like the idea of the Gator Bowl and playing the ACC runner-up. I just hope it's Miami so we can get a Catholics vs Convicts rematch.

Or we could take any number of opponents from your schedule.

And Navy is 5-3 with a win against a higher ranked team than OSU has beaten. I wouldnt talk too much trash about them...

I dont want to talk about it lol

Man Claussen had the game won and he overthrew it, that'll hurt for awhile. Weis got waaaaay too conservative in OT. Playing for FGs, when your kicker sucks was a mistake. He had a career game, but you cant keep relying on him.

yeah i was kinda ticked at the announcers who seemed to keep trying to pin the blame on the kicker at the end of the game there. claussen blew a couple of endzone passes there that would have sealed that game. i really only saw overtime so i can't judge any other part of the game but claussen looked bad in OT.

Horrible news. Floyd is one of the best freshman WR in the country and Brian Smith has been one of the best defensive players on the team this season. Two big blows :pity:

Hopefully both are back healthy in time for the bowl game.

Some good news possibly, there are rumors that Sam McGuffie (aka Vanilla Ice aka White Chocolate) is transferring. He played against us this year, so it'd be great to see him leave. Not to mention it's another reason to laugh at Michigan ;) WR Zion Babb and LB/S Artis Chambers are also leaving, when it rains it pours :chuckle:

Looks like ND is in the Sun Bowl, unless the Gator or Cotton decide they'd rather have ND over an SEC team or a Big 12 team...I have read rumors that ND has a deal already set up w/ the Gator bowl that ND would get in if they beat Syracuse, but the Gator bowl has never taken a 5 loss team; until now maybe.

Cotton, Gator and Sun bowls are still interested in Notre Dame - NCAA Football - SI.com

Hey Don, what is your take on Clausen's play this year? You think he has a future as a starter in the NFL?I haven't watched much of ND.

Too early to say he has NFL talent imo. Or at least I'm not a good enough talent evaluator to project that far ahead lol. He'd have to make some big strides over the next two years though. He does have a strong arm, but his deep ball needs work, and he's more comfortable in a spread offense out of the shotgun, which isnt a great thing. He also locks onto a WR a bit too much still. We'll see what types of strides he makes over the next couple years though.

    Where's the suicide smiley?

I'd fire Weis. He maybe a great recruiter, but does it really matter if you get highly talented players but cant coach them?

I have tickets for the ND game against USC, glad I didnt pay money for them cause that'll be one ugly game.

OH man Don I'm sorry but Weis is god awful. Fire him he can't coach at all. I'm sure ND would get a very good coach but Weis is not cutting it.

So you're done with Weis? Who do you want to replace him? He's a great coordinator, but maybe not so much as a head coach. Good luck with the rest of your season man.:hi5:

I think a lot of fans have given him a pass because of the recruits he has brought in. This game ended that. I just hope his contract isnt as hard to buy out as it's rumored to be.

I could see Urban coaching the Irish. Myer has accomplished alot so far got a national title, produced a Heisman trophy winner, and could be on his way to another national title appearance

The buy out might earn him another year. Also winning whatever crap bowl we go to could save his job. We'll see what happens, his contract makes it hard to predict.

A $20 million dollar buyout seems highly unlikely or at least I would think so. I would think you guys are stuck with him for at least another year. I have to wonder though, how do they figure $20 million as the buyout number? If he signed a 10 year deal in 2005 worth $40M and they're paying him 4 million a year, wouldn't he be owed $28 million because of seven years remaining on his deal?

    Thanks

I dont know. The contract has been a bit of a mystery since he signed it. I dont think any of the numbers that are floating around are confirmed, just rumors/speculation. It's possible i guess that there was a clause that they could buy out the contract for a flat rate of 20 mill, and that how many years are left dont matter.

ESPN had it confirmed at $40 million over a ten year spread, I think. I didn't think about the clause but I think you may be right on that. Either way, that's a hell of a buyout for Weis and it sucks for Notre Dame.

Here is an interesting copy of an email sent to a friend of mine on the Miami Hurricane Scout.com board.

Notre Lamers are getting what they deserve after their arrogant ways when Dr. Nosepicker Holtz was cheatin' there (I mean he cheated at all of his other schools you know he was cheatin' there too :wink2: ).

Good luck with the buyout......NOT !

It is entertaining how much other teams fans still care about Notre Dame...though a Thug U fan talking about anyone else's arrogance is pretty funny.

Worry about your own team
