oh yea he would be way to expensive i think they would want a first for him and he isnt worth the #1 overall pick
I don't even know why I'm going to respond to this.... QB has been the MAIN problem for this team for MANY MANY years. Not WR. You want to bring in Chad Johnson first and you stilll have the same freaking problem. A pissed off WR who won't get the ball because A) the QB has no time to GET THEM THE BALL or B) The QB just flat out sucks. You fix the QB before you throw your draft picks around like Wanny. You still want to say I'm owned for making that point?
kitna sucked to and we dont have a very good QB eather and john beck could get him the ball down the field
fix the o-line and beck could do much much better, but we also have NO receiving targets worth **** except ginn christ we dont even have a decent TE
I like Beck and in time I think he will be good, but don't tell me to expect him to come in next year and play like Palmer, or even Kitna for that matter. Chad Johnson would make our team look sexy, but he wouldn't be utilized like you think, and that is because of the QB position.
Yup youre still owned for saying Palmer MADE Johnson. Which is not true. i agree not having a QB has hurt us but not having a true #1 WR has HURT us just as much. You give us a #1 WR with Ronnie Brown and a Decent OL and our QB will look decent till the Tuna finds the next Romo.
If this was the only trade that occured or FA signing that occured I would understand and certainly not expect much. But if this trade actually switches from rumor to reality, and it was the 1st of several player movements, then I would rethink this. I just dont think our TALENT is horrible. I think our execution and consistency is. If you can improve Talent and depth with other moves, and improve execution and consistency to the scheme than this addition would/could actually mean a lot.
I'd do it in a heartbeat. Who you going to double cover? Ocho Cinco or Ginn? Both? Put a linebacker on LBook? Ocho Cinco, Ginn, LBook in the slot, that combo would be NASTY!
Fins need a Veteran QB and Fix the Lines NOT, I repeat NOT a wide receiver. See Moss and jerry porter in oakland. No lines, No QB, no running game = FAILURE. Period.
Instead of quoting numerous posts and taking up so much space, I'll just reply to the points. #1 We were able to get a 2nd for Chambers because SD was desperate to fix their offense and save their season. In no other bizarro world do we get a 2nd for Chris. #2 Ne traded a 4th for Moss because his value as a player was in the crapper. He publicly stated that he wasn't trying out on the field and was up to his usual antics. If he was playing his butt off and not getting into arguments with his new coach, the Raiders would have gooten much more for him. #3 Ocho Cinco is a PITA and a "me first" player, that goes against the type of players that Parcells has said that he wants. If we are going to trade a draft pick away for a WR, I would rather see what Arizona is going to do with Larry Fitzgerald. They have some big decisions to make with some of their FA's (this year and next) and talk has been that they might consider moving him.
Not true. Yes, OL improvement, but if we do that, and can add Chad for a 3rd rounder you dont need a Veteran QB.
you mean when I said this: Chad Johnson is not Chad Johnson without Carson Palmer. Newsflash.... we don't have Palmer, we have a Lemon. I don't see where I said "made" Is that what you meant..... ?
Anderson would probably cost the Phins a first and a third, and giving up or wasting picks has got us to this point in the first place. Personally, I don't care who we draft in the 1st round as long as it is someone who will make a difference and who gives us a better chance to win.
I know we have lots of holes, but leaving Beck as our QB is not the worst answer for 2008. Fill the OL holes, use your RB, set up the pass (deep too) with accuracy and providing time to throw, get a TE for outlet needs. I would fill other holes that mean more before thinking a starting QB other than J. Beck needs to be found. We need to improve the D as well...cant do it all if you worry about QB when we have J. Beck.
First: Parsnips would bring in Oucho Meo if he thought we were that one player away..which we obviously are not. If the other cogs were already filled, he WOULD bring in a guy of questionable character ala Turdell Owens and Just give me the Da*M ball Meyshaun... Second, sorry, but trust me...Fitz is not leaving the desert anytime soon...Now Bryant IS a free agent this year and I would LOVE for him to be our main WR target. He has been very quiet behind Boldin and Fitz and is a VERY nice reciever...
what about trading Booker and our 3rd for chad johnson it is alot better to trade booker then just release him
Johnson and Johnson...bringing the Baby Lotion...Want to guess which one is the baby, and which one is the lotion?
First, if the Rumor is Chad for just our 3rd why throw in Booker??? Second, yes, it is better to trade Booker, but not just give him away when the opposing team via rumor is not asking for him.
pretty much the samething. Johnson is Johnson regardless of the QB. the stats i posted just proved that. Hows that??..LOL
I disagree on Tuna bringing in TO and Meshawn, Jerry Jones brought TO to Dallas and Parcells didn't draft Meshawn. That doesn't mean that Parcells wouldn't bring in a guy with questionable character IF we were one player away, but like you pointed out, we are not. It's been rumored for a while now, might be worth checking out. I haven't payed much attention to Bryant to really comment on him.
Chad Johnson before Palmer: 2002 24 CIN WR 16 14 69 1166 16.9 5 2003 25 CIN WR 16 14 90 1355 15.1 10 Yeah, he was nothing without Palmer. EDIT - oops....just saw that someone already posted these stats.
Trust me bro, Fitz leaving here is about like Zach or Ronnies chances of leaving Miami Also Bryant Johnson is one of those guys that is too good to be a third reciever. Has all the tools. He is 6-3 215, fast enough, runs good routes and has VERY good hands. Would be a very nice complement for Ginn....and nice in the red-zone as well As I said, he is a FA now and the Cards are gonna probably use their tag on Carlos Dansby. The one thing I have seen locally about Fitz is that both his and Anquan are going to have to re-structure their contracts. Bidwell has become much more open to keeping the players that coaches WANT, and I think that Whisenhunt wants both these guys
Bryant is only decent. There were a few games that he needed to step up and didnt. one week he caught 2 td's and the next didnt have 1 catch and the fourth reciever Urban, caught 2... Urban actually challenged Bryant for the 3rd reciever spot towards the end of the season. I watched Bryant closely over the last half of the season and he didnt really show me anything that says he would come in here and be successful... Probbaly nothing more than a james Mcknight for us
right. and he would have the same type of stats in our situation. Lemon or Beck..... yup.... you know it all baby!
With all due respect. Bryant Johnson. WR for the Arizona Cardianls was 33 in the league with 46 receptions for 528 yards (11.8 yard per catch) but only 2 touchdowns...remember he is a third reciever. To say that Urban challenged him is wrong, and you have been terribly mis-informed. Last year he was 26 in the league in reception. with 50 receptions for 740 yards and 4 touchdowns. The guy could easily be a starter for 25 of the teams in the league. The fact that he plays behind Fitz and Boldin makes him expandable for the cardinals
first off How do YOU KNOW Lemon or Beck is the QB next year?? So whos the know it all again??? you must be the child cause youre the one who getting mad. Lighten up kid have some root beer
Tell Green Bay how hard it is to get WRs through the draft. First rounder Javon Walker was an instant success. Second rounder Greg Jennings was an instant success. Third rounder James Jones was an instant success. Don't tell me you can't find WRs in the draft. Chad Johnson was taken in the same round as Chambers in the 2001 draft. That was a draft that produced enormous talent starting in the first and went deep. Want some examples? Round 1: Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne, Koren Robinson. Round 2: Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers. Round 3: Steve Smith. And the biggest steal of the 2001 NFL draft.... Round 7: T.J. Houshmandzedah Drafting is the best way to get talent. Not trading for players that already peaked. The pick we got for Chambers is less than ten picks before the first pick of the 3rd round. We would basically be trading Chambers for Johnson straight up. Which is a good deal, but we could draft a younger version of Chambers or Johnson, or someone more valuable at another position, with that pick.
Great, a 32 year old calling a 28 year old out as a kid? I am more mature than both you put together, and I am only eleventeen years old.....
