Just wondering if anything exceptional is out there.

I try to stay away from FPS, cuz I just cant get used to playing them without a mouse and keyboard. I Have MGS4, and it is a bi#*h to learn the controls first and foremost, and then all the buttons and combo buttons and stuff. Game looks amazing btw.

So, with that being said, any recommendations? Feel free to include FPS if they are that good except COD4, I have that one on the cpu.

    -Battfield: bad Company
-Warhawk (some will say, I am not a big fan do to the learning curve)
    -NCAA football (online dynasties FTW!!)

Hum well Motion would say WarHawk. Also I like NCAA Football 09 online especially the dynasty aspect. Little Big Planet will probably be huge as well.

Basically any game you want has online so just go with that.

Stitches get out of my head.

I was going to say Battlefield and I've only played the demo but he said no FPS, so I didn't.

Thanks guys. I'll have a look.

How steep can the Warhawk learning curve be though?

Mt. Everest steep. I rented the game and tried several times to play it but I just got dominated. However Motion who is the Warhawk expert says that if you keep trying you will love it and I know it does have great depth. However since I have played it they released a major update that includes beginner only servers and an offline training guide which it never had before so I would say it would be easier to pick up and play now. So its worth a try with this new update and if you have patience it will be awesome I'm sure.

Unless you're a hardcore multiplayer shooter person... I'd stay away from Warhawk. It's pretty ruthless. The learning curve is a steep one.... With no true ranking system, your at the mercy of hoping you pick a server that's actually noobs.

Good game, just needs some sort of placement system

Actually Mor I think the new update created beginner only servers with an offline training mode to make things easier.

The offline training mode is just a tutorial, it's really only good for easy trophies. I haven't tried the noob servers yet, but is there anything to keep veterans off the noob servers?

The N00b servers have a ranking cap at 1st airman or something like that.

At this stage, it's best to wait for Resistance:2 which comes out the first week of November. Resistance:FoM is the best multiplayer game I've ever played. The first private beta for Resistance:2 was kind of watered down as they attempted to steal a few CoD4 fans (the one hit kill fan base), but I heard they fixed most of it to get that original feel back. I can't wait.

If that fails, then PSN in terms of online play will suck until February at least, which is when Killzone2 drops. I have no faith in CoD5. I believe it's the same dev team from CoD3, which wasn't nearly as good as CoD4. Night and day, really. So yeah, basically if Resistance:2 drops the ball, I'll be playing Gears 2 exclusively. I can't wait for MAG, though. I don't think it's coming out until Q3 or Q4 2009.

EDIT: Also, Warhawk was pretty fun in a weird way. Pretty much every kill / death in that game is cheap as hell, though. It's been inactively sitting on my PSN since CoD4 came out last year, but it was fun while it lasted. I don't know how active it is at the moment.

Cheap kill/death? What do you mean by that?

Warhawk is still extremely active, there was just a new expansion pack released a couple weeks ago. There are always plenty of people online.

I totally agree with you on Warhawk along the line of cheap kills. People in Warhawks chase you when you're on foot, people places mines EVERYWHERE...etc.

As far as COD:World at War(not really COD5), Infinity Ward is an awesome developer. COD3 doesn't have anything on COD4 or even COD2 for that matter. Personally I think COD2 was a better game then COD4. It still holds up.

Lastly, What did you mean by R2 taking some things from COD4? I was in the BETA but I must have not paid attention to details of that nature.

Socom: Confrontation is coming out in a few days. It's a TPS and after playing the beta, I've noticed that it's very noob friendly.

I was playing the beta quite a bit... The only problem is... The game is boring. Could just be the multi player aspect, but I just found SOCOM to be boring and dull. Why play a third person wanna-be COD4 when you can go get COD4. imo of course.

I get the same way when panzy snipers litter the map with claymores in BF2.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll wait for the new games comin out, and try a few demos. I don't want to jump into a game now that has a small following.

I have to learn how to play madden on the next gen. I HATE IT. You can’t run, you can’t defend a pass. The playbooks are LIMITED compared to the PC version. I can't truck anybody (on either side of the ball), don't know why? Takes 2-3 ppl to make a tackle. In general, it sucks compared to the old gen PC game. But, I will have to get used to it I guess.

To put it into prespective, I was a good player online pc, and now I struggle with Pro mode, not even All Pro. :pity:

So Madden will occupy the majority of my time till the newer games come out.

All I remember about Warhawk, in terms of headaches, was being killed by people who whored the tanks 24/7. I hated that so much. Rarely ever are there any decent gun battles in that game. It's a preference thing, though. That's why I love Resistance.

Might actually boot it up before Resistance 2 if NBA 2k9's online patch doesn't come soon enough.

Well, 1-2 hits for the most part. Not exactly my flavor. I like a steady gun battle with strafing.
