After watching all the games yesterday what players impressed you that are going into the draft? here are some of mine.

1.jake long- I watched this guy dominate on the line and i absolutely love him! i have watched him before and he looked good but yesterday i watched almost every play and he didnt miss any blocks all day, that i seen. he is huge and i dont know why people say he cant play LT ?? well he looks the part and he is playing LT in college? people say he is slow but he looks as fast as carey, and i think he is #1 pick material.

2.erik ainge- i have seen ainge play a ton and i think he will be a very decent nfl qb, he has the size 6'6 and the arm, he would be a steal in the 3rd round imo but i think after the combine he will be a 2nd rounder no doubt.

3.mario manningham- i havent seen alot of him but he looked good yesterday, he looks to have soft hands and decent size, mabe a early 2nd rounder? late 2nd?

4.rey maualuga-olb-usc- i know he says he is not comming out but dang this guy is a beast he was all over the place yesterday, maybe he changes his mind?

also i have to talk about chris long, ive heard all the hype about this guy so i paid close attention when i could and honestly he didnt impress me that much, granted he was double teamed alot so i will give him that but no way is he a better prospect than jake long! he looks like a bigger version of roth, he has a good motor and fights hard but he could be a great player or a bust its hard to tell, i just wonder would he be that popular if he wasnt the son of howie long?

^ yeah same here. i was really impressed by him and manningham. I was really dissapointed in Brennan vs Georgia. Also, Mendenhall looked really really good out there vs USC as did Maluga ( sp?) the usc linebacker. The linebacker from georgia, i wanna say his last name is brown but not sure. he had 3 sacks and a pick on Brennan and Hawaii.

You have to be kidding me.

He's not riding a his dads name at all.
I watched that game just to watch him and he created havoc on a regular basis.
The opposing QB was constantlyfeeling pressure from him no.
He played in a 3 point, standing up, outside, inside, played the run well, rushed the pass well, dropped into coverage. The friggin guy did it all.

I wasn't impressed with Jake Long. He's not worth the top of the 1st grade many think he is IMO.

I'll be very dissapointed if we don't take C. Long with our first if we stay at our spot.

wow i am suprised how high people are on chris long, i probably watched 20 snaps of long yesterday and he almost got a sack, i guess i need to watch more of the guy? and how in the world did jake long not impress yesterday? he dominated everyone they put agianst him? and i did not see him vs. gholston i guess he got dominated? well i will go on record and say jake long will be a better pro than chris long, but i think chris has the tools to be a good pro, we shall see.

Chad Henne had the game of his life. Aarington was great also. Rey Meluga sp. was great. McKnight showed why everyteam in the country wanted him to come play for them. Percy Harvin was great in a losing effort.

The bowl games in general have been a terrible dissapointment, IMO. Florida/Michigan was great but I was more intrigued by the Ice Bowl.

Tony Temple probably had the best day but he's probably a mid-rd guy.

I saw Chris get double teamed sometimes triple the whole game and he just pushed them all back into the QB, and when he cant get to the quaterback he deflected the pass, he has a great motor, he was going as hard at the end of the game as the first, I think he will be a great pro.

I would definitely agree, but I would also add Chad Henne to the list of MI players. Jake long was an animal yesterday, and controlled a guy from FL that had 3 sacks against OSU in the championship game last year. manningham looked like a total playmaker, would love to see him opposite Ginn!!!! I wouldn't mind

    1. Jake Long
    2. Mario Manningham
    4. chad Henne

    Jake Long?:lol::lol:

Chris Long looked 10x better than Jake Long did. Jake Long got beat on a few plays. Chris Long was wrecking havoc despite being double teamed almost every play. He was Virginia's defense.

If we go Jake Long with the 1st I will kill someone.

    Chris Long didn't impress you?

    He deflected 3 passes.

    he forced 2 holding penalties.

    his man false started twice.

    he got 5 QB pressures.

it was a miracle that he didn't have at least 3 sacks.

    He wrecked havoc.

I like when he sheded off one blocker, and then another, and was in on the tackle.

Totally agree here with Davis. Guy runs like a WR. I don't see him making it out of the first round but I would love this guy in the early 2nd.

Chris Long played very well. His "stats" may not reflect a huge day (ie sacks) but he commanded attention from multiple blockers which undoubtedly helped the rest of the defense to take care of business.

I also saw Jake Long, and thought he did look good against Florida. He is definitely a premium run blocker as I saw him pancake at least three guys. On one occasion he went commando on a Gator linebacker driving him 10 yards down the field and them slammed him to the ground on his back. He pinned the guy's shoulders to the ground as he used him to get up. Clearly shows a mean streak. LB went back to the huddle shaking his head. Don't think he is a number 1 guy, but if we dropped into the 7-10 range, I would love to have him even at RT.

Colt Brennan had the spotlight and had no opportunity for success. I've saw him a few times but he looked tiny. Right now I know he's got really no chance to be a QB in the NFL but Pat White is somebody to look at as project WR. He's a Jr and I think he'll go back but I think he's more of Antwaan Randle El than Robinson or Smith were a couple years ago.

I want to know what that fellow runs the 40 in. Did you see him run catch Percy Harvin? Granted he had an angle, but I never thought I'd see that happen.

Mention Medder again and I'll ban you :gun_bandana:

Jake Long is a dominant force in the running game for sure, but he's got major issues blocking speed rushers. Harvey got by him yesterday a few times, though he didn't make the play, and Gholston owned Long like Darryl Tapp owned D'Brick a few years ago. A top ten pick LT should be a lot better in pass protection than what I've seen from Long.

I agree about Maualuga, that guy was amazing. Best LB performance of the year by far from games I've watched.

I think you need to watch Chris Long a lot closer and plug in some more games. I think he's got a lower ceiling than Gholston, but this guy's floor is probably Trace Armstrong. You're doing something pretty special when you get your college jersey retired while still playing for that college. Long kept Virginia in games all year and practically won the Maryland game all by himself. That, despite constant double teaming like you saw yesterday.

I think that's what impressed me most about Chris Long yesterday. It seemed like he always diagnosed where the play was going immediately and put himself in position to make a play. Tech did a pretty good job keeping two lineman on him all game, but even that didn't stop him from disrupting quite a few plays.

I'm not sure how many sacks Long will get as a rookie, but I know he'd provide a drastic improvement to our run defense. He's possibly just as good against the run as he is a pass rusher.

It's the draft so anything's possible, but I'd put a lot of money on Chris being the better Long at the top of this draft. To me, an injury is the only way Chris is going to be a bust. Jake, on the other hand, has some serious question marks about his game.

By far the best game of his career, including one of the best catches you'll ever see on any level. That was a heck of a play.

Certainly has better size than Mario, but his production paled in comparison. I'm not sure if anyone helped their draft stock more than he did yesterday though.
