If its true that Zach will be gone next year should we sign Lance Briggs and pick up Bernard Berrian to be our #1 WR they are both really talented and Berrian wont cost that much but Briggs will be highly paid but if it is true that zach will be gone and Marty Booker will be gone should we pick these two people up in free agency.
I dont really think it wouuld matter if we had jesus christ at WR until we get a solid QB who can be accurate
I want Colt Brennan throwing him the ball with last nights game he will drop in the draft and we might be able to get him with our3rd round
I don't want to pay the money Briggs will want, especially after we got blasted for paying Porter less(most likely). And I would easily prefer Bryant Johnson over Berrian. I think Johnson is much more well rounded and should be cheaper.
Bryant Johnson is no where as near as good as Berrian. I had both on my fantasy team, I know how good they are
Javon Walker has publicly stated he would like to be traded out of Denver, depending on the price what is everyone's thoughts on him. I personally wouldn't mind a Walker/Ginn duo, if he can stay healthy that is.
Berrian is better, faster, has better hands. And no, im not basing it on fantasy. even when Boldin and Fitz were both out, Johnson stepped up for 1 game and had 2 TD's, the following game Zona's 4th WR jereme Urban had 2 TD's and Johnson was non existent... No, im not basing it on fantasy. I said I had them both on my fantasy team so I was following them basically each week and Berrian is far better than Johnson
i agree that berrian is better or i would have posted it as Lance Briggs and Bryant Johnson will be FA
Post it however you want, i wasnt questioning your post, i was responding to stitches post. chill out
oh gosh, imagine this as our 3-4 lb Vernon Gholston, Zach Thomas, Lance Briggs, Joey Porter then idk...Taylor, whoever, Roth at DL
Stats are not the end all, be all. Johnson runs much cleaner routes, gets good seperation, and has better hands than Berrian. Berrian might have better deep speed and ups, but that is about it. I have watched both of them play each chance I get this season closely, as I knew they were upcoming FAs.
So have I, I disagree though. I would much rather have Berrian than Johnson. And Berrian did everything he has with a revolving door at QB just like we have. If Berrian had Warner throwing him the ball instead of a worse QB than we have Berrian could be pro bowl caliber
Not sure what Zac has left..., do we want to see him leave with brain damage..., there must be a starting role for Crowder...
i dont think Crowder is good enough to start at Middle Linebacker. He needs to stay on the strong side and we need to find someone else, either FA or draft, who can be productive in the middle
Agree to disagree over this then. No big deal, just don't want this to be based on stats, which it seems like your opinion isnt.
yea u are right if Zach leaves channing would take his spot but zach said he wants to finsh out his contract before he retires and he wants to do it in miami
Briggs is not a 3-4 LB, he has stated he wants to stay in the 4-3 Berrian is good. But he is the same type of WR as Ginn. We need to bring in a possession receiver.
maybe thats cause Briggs needs those 4 big a**** in front of him to be productive. Be funny if Parcells brings in Keyshawn
don't go thinking that Matth ROth will have his spot easily next year... Rodrique Wright and Vonnie are doing very well there... and there are those kids in the draft... mister long and dorsey... and jason taylor also who was playing DE this year but our next Dcoord will probably put him back to Jack.. that is if he's still on the team
Actually it is more of a 4-3 . . . hell even look at the starting lineups for us on gameday . . . . they always introduce us as a 4-3 . . . its still a hybrid, but I really hope we stick to a 4-3 and draft one of those BIG 3 DL in the draft (Dorsey, Long, Gholston . . . if we can't trade down).
I actually think if we draft on of those DE's in the draft, and JT is back . . . Roth DEFINITELY doesn't start, which is fine by me . . . because he looks much more productive in situational pass rush modes. It's cool, we need depth anyways . . . Roth can also play DT . . . alot of versatility on this line.
A little late to this discussion, but as you know, I am a Bears fan, so I will shed a little light on these guys for you. Lance won't play in a 3-4 alignment, and I don't see us shifting from that system any time soon. At least not into a system that Briggs would want to come here for. As for Berrian, he's a guy I'd love to see in Miami. He reminds me a lot of Chambers in what we saw early on in CC's career. CC showed that if he could just step it up a notch, become a more consistent receiver and time his routes a little better, he could be one of the best receivers in the game. Berrian is similar. Moose has been our go-to intermediate and inside man. Berrian has typically been the go-long-and-catch kinda guy, but he's shown to be a more consistent pair of hands than CC ever was. He definitely helped Rex out a lot because he is very good at beating a defender to a spot. I think that would make him a good big-play receiver in a system such as ours, that relies so much on timed passes and a balanced spread receiving game (at least, our offense should rely on these factors).
Not yet. Happens every year. People get hyped up about potential free agents and 80% of them resign before free agency starts. Free Agency tends to 90% of the time be about guys who get cut in Feb for salary cap reasons.
http://celtkin.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1930 There was already a thread about Javon Walker and personally, I would pass on him.
the deal that Lance Briggs signed says that they can not Franchise him and they dont have the money to pay him any ways
I've got an idea, how about we avoid signing big name free agent, except maybe for a relatively low-priced veteran at QB, and build via the draft. Patience is key. Instead of going for the quick fix, let's keep building a youthful foundation like we start doing this year. Let's trade for more picks!
Funny that's why they almost announced a deal at mid season this year. It's been a lot closer at times that I wouldn't be surprised if it's worked out before March.
